For every machinist thinking what I am thinking, Wondering what I am wondering. All my questions were quickly answered after I look up Protolabs name in the stock market. Give me a thumbs up if you understand what I mean. Sorry for not being completely clear.

This looks more like a school than a machine shop. Only vertical machines? I don’t want to know how many operators it takes to keep all that spindles turning. That’s how China does it BTW. Room full of verticals but labors are much cheaper over there.

Such a shabby entrance area, these "offices": desks and monitors placed as close as possible without being able to see each other, ... then the cheapest machines bought and the hall stuffed with them! And so cramped, if two machines need parts at the same time, one is stuck in a traffic jam! working here must be a nightmare!

@@Dfk429S9fo3 I have been working in manufacturing for 34 YEARS! And I've seen a lot of factories so far, but never such unkind offices - if you take the sign off the door, nobody knows what's going on there! There are no photos, no models (not even the obligatory flag on the wall!) I thought such boxes as offices only existed in bad parodies! And we don't have to discuss the fact that this production is a nightmare, do we? A third of the machines, possibly reasonably organized with loaders (yes, you can handle different blank sizes with one loader!) should be enough!

Modernity is actually not a marketable quality. We don't want to modernize things, we want them to work better. If that means using computerized workflows, say that instead.
