And yet when the marines go to get help they are ostracized by their command, removed from their platoon, and are isolated, and you wonder why the reenlistment rate is so low, the marines take mental health as a joke and a KZfaq video isn’t gonna change anybody’s mind, but I digress.

I agree. I understand the marines set their standards high, but when someone is honestly thinking about ending they’re own life, the marines laugh at them and treat them differently. I saw that a lot in the Army and I can’t imagine what the marines do. My cousin told me that whatever I do, don’t join the marines because of how bad they really treat people and the environment they are in.

It's things like this that inspire you to make a change when you know something isn't right. You put it on your PHA, you talk to an officer in the Navy. They tell you if it's still a problem in six months come back. You do the same thing again. Get told the same in another six months. Your thoughts get crappy midday of work. Someone you love was hurt by someone when you're supposed to be "protecting" the country. You try to call the counselor on base to talk to someone. You need an appointment, and they aren't available rn. You call a hotline to talk to an actual veteran who has worse problems. You feel worse and just hold it in a bit longer. I never understood why I had a buddy lose it and end up in the psyche ward, or why veterans kill themselves. Everything is pushed to the limits. It's not a problem until you're at your worst point and can't take it anymore. I'm not saying anybody in leadership wants us like this, but the system is setup this way. Just wait a bit longer. "Perception is reality". "If my buddies see me weak, they'll think I'm weak". Nobody wants to be pitied. In an institution that doesn't come with many benefits, we came to reclaim our dignity, our respect. Walking past therapist/counselor offices in the civillian world when you do have time. "Closed". We're supposed to be 24/7, on the job. Always a Marine, stay ready. Ready for when the world has problems. Nobody is there for us.

Her and I just spoke about exactly what you just posted about. Mental health is so important and doesn't make you weak for addressing your mental health. I'm here for anyone that needs someone to talk to. From: a soon to be Marine mom and someone who cares❤ YOU GOT THIS 💪❤️🇺🇲

USAF Sergeant here, to me service starts with the guy next to you. If we take care of each other, then we can do anything. Asking questions and caring about the answer is critical to getting through to servicemembers who have already given up on the force, and by helping bring joy into their lives we can save them. Aim High Marines, and Semper Fi.

I asked my 97 year old father (WW2 vet) if he, or his fellow soldiers, ever struggled with PTSD after they came home in 1945-‘46. He said, “No, we had too much to live for and accomplish once we got home!” He immediately went to college on his GI Bill, found a wife, got a job, bought a farm, had a family, got involved in church, and never looked back. He worked SO hard, slept so little, accomplished SO much, and did his very BEST at everything! …The hardest working man I’ve ever met!… …perhaps to drown out the memories…? But we never knew his war stories til the end of his life. He kept them to himself. He lived with me at 95 and 96 years old, when his mind started to fail. He took off one night out the back door, in a rush, yelling that we had to get out! It’s a bad deal!! The place was going to blow!! He was panicked to his core…still… …But it never came out until shortly before his death. That’s a lot of years to suppress past fears. They may never go away completely . But busyness, family, church and God help a WHOLE lot! Born-1926 Died-2023 I miss you Daddy. Thank you for your service! 🫡❤️🤍💙🇺🇸

In families, once there is a suicide, it more than doubles the chances of it happening again. Please get help if you are struggling. Please reach-out to your brothers and sisters, like the General said, the sun WILL rise tomorrow. The more we talk to each other and let people know we care about them, the better this world will be.

Gentlemen as prior nco, the biggest reasoning as to why the marines never said anything was because of the command teams. Maybe its time to really take a look at the leaders across the commands to be better as leaders and really understand their marines rather then sticking to old outdated ways of leading/ sitting in what ever battalion, reg, or division office like most command teams still are. Treat the marines like people while doing the job right getting a better out in my experience.

Semper Fi!…..from a proud Veteran…..Airwinger but still a rifleman. To this day, I will always honor and remember the day I stepped on the yellow footprints at MCRD PI, to the day I got out. The day before I got out, the SgtMaj signed my squadron lithograph and gave me aSgt Majors Coin. The day I got out, the CMC came down for a PI Graduation….not unusual since the Air Station was only about ten miles on the other side. Knowing Gen. Krulak…..I would not be surprised to hear he would try to get the abandoned airstrip on PI, now used for BWT to be rebuilt and him fastrope down from a (CH-46) onto the parade deck….(1999)…..Ospreys were still in development and testing! The base operations Mariy let me walked out to his staff car and asked him to sign as a momento of my service. Gen. Krulak not only signed the lithograph but reached into the briefcase and gave me a Commandants Coin. It was that moment I realized my mistake of getting out but too late then. Had some good times and if I toured PI again, to this day I could point out the footprints. )

I served in the Army, 82nd Airborne. My arrival in my unit was met by welcome to the unit, and brought up to speed on everything I needed, and needed to know. I felt the sense of Camaraderie and worth immediately. My son joined the Marine Corps. 0300 and did well also. However he witnessed attempted suicides and a successful suicide, as well as mental breakdowns. This was all from endless hazing by fellow Marines (seniors) while NCO's were nowhere to be found. I admit you must be mentally and physically strong in the event you see action, trust me I know, but it's traumatizing to think many parents who are proud of their Marine, get informed of there son's death because of action they saw inside their barracks, not on a battlefield.

The realization of paradise or heaven or perfection. You realize that reality is absolute perfection. With the realization of immortality you have no more fear because nothing bad can happen to you. You've literally transcended death and so as an immortal eternal being that you now realize that you are, you're in paradise. You're in heaven. You realize that heaven is right here right now. Heaven is not some place you go to. Heaven is just the realization of eternity, of absolute love.

@@jaime4231you don’t think being an average civilian has its own risks? At least being a Marine is a sign that a person has a greater sense of self, not selfishness. We can do anything, including nothing at all, and that’s the most fulfilling part of being a Marine, knowing what your capable of, and not using those skills at all.

Disease and health, like circumstances, are rooted in thought. Sickly thoughts will express themselves through a sickly body. Thoughts of fear have been known to kill a man as speedily as a bullet, and they are continually killing thousands of people just as surely though less rapidly. The people who live in fear of disease are the people who get it. Anxiety quickly demoralizes the whole body, and lays it open to the entrance of disease; while impure thoughts, even if not physically indulged, will soon shatter the nervous system. To live continually in thoughts of ill will, cynicism, suspicion, and envy, is to be confined in a self made prison-hole. But to think well of all, to be cheerful with all, to patiently learn to find the good in all-such unselfish thoughts are the very portals of heaven; and to dwell day by day in thoughts of peace toward every creature will bring abounding peace to their possessor.

If you are a winger or a grunt, the non NCOs need to let the NCOs know what is happening and in turn it will go up the chain. We know each other on a level very few understand, we know when there is a problem. But that goes from the top down, if an officer has a problem, let someone know. Keep each other safe. We are a brotherhood, we should keep each other safe both on the battlefield as well as off of it, even after service.

"The beatings will continue until morale improves." - This is what marines would tell me whenever they referred to their chain of command. Well, the suicides will continue until the work environment improves. I've seen firsthand how your guys are treated on multiple joint missions/bases. Citing laurels from 100 years ago doesn't justify treating your devil dogs like actual stray dogs.

maybe if USMC wasn't WOKE celebrating Gat pride day/month and having Marines die for a country the size of New Jersey (Izreal, when hardly an american jew joins the military, they become doctors, lawyers, politicians, accountants to GRIFT the system and laugh at Marines who die for them) and USMC having a pathetic mission having Nothing to do with National Security or serving USA then Marines wouldn't commit suicide. Imagine a Marine Corps that secured our borders, trained so hard and well that NO EMEMY would dare invade our soil just how motivated our Marines would be? It's a FANTASY.

Would you ask your psychiatrist to go look into our fourth amendment rights that's being presented through felonies cuz I'm not allowed to look into medical but I'm wondering if it's got something through that and that's what being spread out against us and then we can't get the correct understanding of ourselves

Operation Urgent Fury, the seventeen Marines (special force) who captured Grenville on the first day of the invasion. On the second day they arrived at Governor Scoon's mansion to support the Navy Seals and evacuate Scoon his wife and aids. After evacuating Scoon the ten remaining Marines (seven were wounded earlier) retook the spice island radio station and there they engaged with the enemy all night until morning. Grenadian General Austin aka psychopath who was there at the beach below the radio station realized in the morning that he was surrounded and so he surrendered. These seventeen Marines were classified and later trashed and forgotten. The only acknowledgement these Marines received was a cheap Hollywood movie about them. Heartbreak Ridge starring Clint Eastwood which was 98 percent fiction and goofy goofy goofy. Marines who knew the seventeen Marines were hired to help with the Heartbreak Ridge movie but they walked off the set in disgust because of the fictional BS. Today I believe there are only four Marines alive today. So Mr. Smith, will these Marines ever be acknowledged or are they still debriefed and will remain forgotten? Know what PTSD is like, Mr. Smith? Semper Fi my ass! The Marine Corps of today is a disgrace.

Stop treating Marines like Shit and the problem would go away or be minimal. They won't release someone who can't or won't do it... But they will pick at them until their last day. The USMC is not for everyone. We had guys who should not have been there. They stated they did not want to be there. Yet the Marine corps had them stay the entire 4 years.... And those were the problem children or the ones on suicide watch.
