One thing I have learned is I send a introduction letter via E-Mail before we start cutting there and their estimate. It explains all the services offered and when payments are due and so on. It also explains when it will be serviced. A brief explanation of yearly costs depending on what services you would like. This way anything I may have missed is explained in writing. Sometimes I really do not explain anything when seeing them. I just ask for their Email and I am golden cause they are going to get a Email explaining it.

Can you help me understand what licensed and bonded mean in lawn care?
@dandylawnandmaintenance4407
@dandylawnandmaintenance4407 10 күн бұрын
@@jesuschristfirst5775 I am licensed with a State Issued Contractors License as a Landscaper. The Insurance and bond is required if your Licensed in this State. In case of any property damage while working say you break a window my insurance kicks in to pay for any damages. The bond insures any projects not preformed correctly. In this state if you work for a Property Management Company as a example most will not hire you as a contractor if your not insured for at least 1 million in coverage.. Let me set a small example. Say your out mowing and its hot dry grass. A fire starts and burns up all the grass and a house on that property. Well I am covered by insurance for damages. Many clients who live in expensive homes may look for someone that is Insured and Bonded. I also charge a Sales tax which I pay to the State. You can be Licensed or you can just go under the radar and not be Licensed but you may expect a lower level of clients. It also shows your committed as a provider.

I had a customer complaining to me about my prices being too high, told me his last guy was cutting his yard for 45.00 dollars but complained he wasn't doing a good job. Not weed eating not edging not taking care of the weeds in the in the sidewalk or the driveway in the cracks. Explain to him on my services and what I could do for him the best you can give me was $50 I came out and told him that I don't think my company would be a good fit for you. Taking on these types of customers are nothing but problems and headaches.

I got clients that skip every now and then. Most don't. When they skip I charge $10 extra. If they skip more than once I let them go. If the grass hasn't grown I don't cut.

To piggyback off big sarnt my tip is to have a CRM program that semi or fully automates your process, get an EIN, look into commercial insurance. Have branding on your vehicle or trailer, even if it's a magnetic, until you can get a wrap or vinal letter. Select an area within a 5 mile radius and focus on that area. Also, research the going rate in your area set your prices to be competitive within that price point. As you grow offer service packages and (a la carte) services for additional revenue.

Not sure if I would like servicing this property, looks very technical and tight spacing. You did an excellent job.

That was a great POV presentation Johnny. Your business acumen is spot on for both lawn care providers and for customers, professional and knowledgeable. This is definitely what customers want to see, no grey areas and a consistent approach. Beautiful crisp clean results from the back and front yards. Many thanks for taking the time to share with us Johnny, much appreciated. Take care, see you soon and POP SMOKE PEACE ✌️💎

The hardest part for me is trying to figure out how to get into hoas or neighborhoods that actually have grass and not everything growing in it. I could advertise but not sure how those specifically in subdivisions and hoas would see it. Living in the country, there's a few neighborhoods around within a 10 mile radius, but I've received nothing but crappy yards that turn into mowing nothing but dust in quite a few of them. Many days i feel like giving up as i already have a few health problems but it took so long just to build what little i do have and everything I've invested in, that's why i keep trying. Even many of the rich want to always find the best deal and for me, i can't drive 15-20 min to a job and 15-20 min back for one $50-60 yard that takes 45 or more minutes to do. Any advice on going about that? Thanks again for all the content you upload. You've inspired me a lot.

When I see small guys just starting out at the gas station and they ask me for any useful tips, first thing I always tell them "dont let the customer dictate your price, and if you educate them about cut height and serice schedule and they say I dont care how it looks I just want it cut; run away you dont want a customer like that, they're nothing but a headache."

Excellent video as always Johnny! Question: Is there a specific reason why you are mulching instead of side discharging?

Thanks for the tip on the shirts. I used to get cotton via vistaprint, but im looking at switching to long sleeve high performance tees with SPF protection. I was looking thru Fin print designs, do you find that the camo hides the dirt and stains better? Or do you prefer the solid red color and feel it stands out more? I also like the idea on I saw on one of your shirts that had a sleeve logo indicating Veteran Owned Biz.

The grass doesn't even look like you are even cutting nothing. I'd tell you what you have good customer then cutting grass that look like it just got cut yesterday. I think they have money to pay but the people I deal with are cheap and broke got to find a different area. They don't care how high it is just to cheap to let me cut it every two weeks but I have couple of customers that do like it cut every two weeks. They have HOA but I guess 20:56 there not strict and making people keep the grass cut on a regular basis
