I remember years ago, a friend & I took down an 80 ft Ham radio tower, by hand, in sections! It was way narrower than that, we had to share one rung together, one foot on the others! We had two 2x4's longer than the section, with hooks to hook for on the cross bars on the section below, pully up to the top, unbolt a section pull it up, and somebody on the ground guide it down! We did it from the top down, then cut the legs off! And we had safety gear, hard hats, shoes, pole climbing gear! Grandpa has it right, man on one side two kids on the other! I'd pack as much grease on all them parts good before I put it back up!

The good news is that Aeromotor is still in business and making windmills. So if you need info or parts they should be able to help you out.

The pipe of the well has a crossbar so that it does not move when the mill draws water, if you dig you will surely find it near the subway, at least that is how we place it here in Argentina. The grandfather, handsome for work!! Greetings.

Jordan, perhaps you can find parts under the old barn. Under that floor was an old windmill, perhaps there are parts there that could be useful. I would find an old well and use it there to pump water.

How far did you have to move the windmill to get it to your place? Your dad and grandfather are still going strong, I hope I am half as able when I am their age. I am super excited to watch you get this fixed and standing tall once again. You should put it in a prominent place on your property, perhaps use it to display flags and flowers on the lower part of the tower. I would run electric to it for lighting and holiday decorations. So I hope you don't wait a long time before you get it done.

Cool project! Might be interesting to convert to power a generator. I wonder if the original 18 blade unit would harvest more energy from the wind than modern 3 or 6 blade designs of this size? Amazing that it withstood 100MPH++ winds without destructing.

Great Work also love Aeromotor one on farm I grew up came down in 1960 from bad strom on hill was on! I want get one use for my CB Radio antenna on tower but my area would not allow it because fly path of Airport to close to me in Ontario Canada but false information I got because lots TV Stations towers and Cellphone also Internet use those towers my area also home farm to has 2 over 100 foot towers from them! Also stupid parts even Hydro goes thru my late Uncle farm for provinces wild has East and West direction over 300 feet up ! Makes me made about was lied to and couple persons on home for TV Antennas plus Satellite plus Internet and CB radios over 150 in area on Delhi self support ones ! Plus one over 300 feet in air too been up since 1980 to present years! Never heard had take down ! Plus TV Stations one tower is 600 feet up in area and heard one USA is 2800 feet up for Ham Repeater antenna is to !
