@Buildsum
@Buildsum 9 жыл бұрын
RobertJohn Hi Robert You could note it if you wanted or you could delete the reading on 17. If you do take the reading just make sure that you end up with the same RL for both. I checked the Rise and Fall sheet and we do so all is OK.

Please correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't you need to take the level readings before building a house or was there another reason for taking them after the house was built?
@Buildsum
@Buildsum Жыл бұрын
Hi Mate, there is usually a site survey done as part of preparing the plans and getting the contours for the site however information about the height of specific points on the site are not included. To be fair this is not a survey that you might usually require, you may only need to get the height of one or 2 points at any time however the process is the same and the point of the video was to demonstrate how the level book is filled out.

so why can't old mate on datum 9 stand right on the corner so when you move the dumpy (change) he can see the staff from both sides and have the same reading (not moving the staff just turning it so he can see it with the dumpy) and if he did how would you write it on your sheet?
@Buildsum
@Buildsum 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Mate, yes that is the idea however you won't have the same reading because the instrument has moved and won't be at the same height as it was. The booking on the sheet would be the same. Hope this helps

great animations! I love all your vedios and you are really helping us all! I only have a question: at the end of the process, when you looking back at the datum point (the reading is 2.634), why did you record it in the "foresight" column? The datum is a known point, I think it should be in the backsight column?
@Buildsum
@Buildsum 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mate, in this case, because it is a closed survey the point would be known, however, if it was an open survey it wouldn't be and as it is the last reading in the survey it will have to go in the Foresight column otherwise the checks will not work. Hope this helps.

I certainly no expert and I imagine it varies from school to school, job to job and depending on what type of report. If you watch the video I posted it shows how that style can be read , used to double check for errors etc. What you did is fine and will work....I am sure some where they teach or use a system completely different than all of this......there is certainly nothing wrong with what you did.
