I made a 1/2 gallon jar a couple weeks before Christmas. I was straining it on my countertop the other day when my kiddo hopped up on the countertop and spilled almost all of it. I was heartbroken. Thankfully I managed too press out about a pint from the scraps. I've been dehydrating my scraps too. Nothing going to waste!

Thanks to you I discovered fire cider. I made 2 jars but ended up needed another 2. I LOVE IT! Warms your inside. Better than plain ACV. I added honey of course. I sort of did what you did but I added some pineapple and cayenne. I tried to press what I could out. In the future I am going to blend it and dry it and turn into powder. I loved your idea of putting it into capsules.My daughter will be able to stomach the capsules. That gave me an idea of taking my powdered vegetables I do and put in capsules too. ... off to see where I can purchase capsules and holder. Watching you from BC Canada. ❤ Learning a lot from you.

If you are pouring from a container without a spout something that helps is if you hold a chopstick or something similar to the edge of the side you are pouring from! Then the liquid will want to run down the chopstick instead of the side of the jar or bowl, so you can control where it goes

One tip, it’s a bit harder with a big bowl/pot, but to keep the liquid from running all over the place, get a rod of some sort, long spatula, (any sort of utensil that you can pour down) and press it to the edge of the bowl as you pour, it makes for a cleaner pour and the fluid follows the line of the utensil, if you didn’t know that, hope it can help🤗

I've got a question regarding how to make a duel extraction with Lions Mane mushrooms. Anyone who has ANY info or advice on this I welcome with open arms! I suddenly find myself with a large amount fresh Lions Mane!! (almost 3 pounds!!!) Such a problem to have!! I've also I've never made a dual extraction before. In my research I've heard people say it doesn't matter which extraction you make first, the water based, or the alcohol based. However, I noticed that each person then decides to dry the mushroom, and do the alcohol based extraction first. My big question is why don't more people do the water extraction first? Here's my thought process: The fresh mushroom already has a lot of water in it, so it just seems logical to me to skip the drying process, and make the water extraction first. Yet, I don't see anyone doing this... Am I missing some information as to why the alcohol tincture is made first instead of the water version?
@TheHoneystead
@TheHoneystead Жыл бұрын
I’ve been taught both ways. However there is evidence that water based first then alcohol offers greater medicinal properties. Look up Christopher Hobbs book in my herbalism books link in the description. I went to his lecture and he said water first, but he did say that if it’s in alcohol then it will be ok. I mainly started with alcohol until he educated me on this topic!
@gardengatesopen

@The Honeystead AWESOME! That's just what I was thinking... Why NOT take advantage of the mushroom's already watery nature first?! Thank for the input, I will look into that book.
