Taking Our New Jeep Gladiator Offroad - How Capable Is It??

It’s time to take our Jeep Gladiator Rubicon Offroad and test it out on the trails while it’s still stock!
We head down to Uwharrie National forest to get some trail time behind the wheel of the new Truck.
Starting off, we hit some easy trails, and slowly moved up to some harder trails.
In the factory Rubicon setup, the Jeep truck does fairly well for what it is. This Jeep is not designed for hardcore Offroad, however with some upcoming mods and some tweaks it can be a very capable trail rig and perfect for overland adventures.
Stay tuned for upcoming videos when we start adding some aftermarket mods and of course, more testing of its capabilities each step of the way.
I know a lot of people will jump straight to 37s on this Jeep, but I think 35s with a small lift would also be a great option for off-roading while still retaining the factory handling.
In a few videos from now I will do a comprehensive review of the Gladiator, things I love about it, things I hate about it, things I will change, and overall how it performs on the road and the street.
Like Cassie mentioned, a lift kit, 35s and floor mats will be some of the first upgrades. And more to come after that!
Thanks for watching, if you enjoyed the video please give it a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel!

JK Gear and Gadgets I’ve found with my buddy’s JL that the 8 speed auto will upshift off road making it seem like the Jeep is cutting power. If you put it in manual mode and choose your own gear it won’t do that. Not sure if the JT is the same but that’s what I’ve found with the JL

IMHO, the Gladiator wasn't designed for serious rock crawling and/or off-roading due to its long wheel base. Did you really "give" the Grand Cherokee to your brother-in-law? Or did he actually "buy it" from you?

Bob Quattrini XJ’s are beasts!! 400,000 miles is a lot for sure. My 1996 has 190k so just getting broken in :). A few up upgrades has me out wheeling way more expensive rigs here in Texas. My daily is a Ford Raptor so it’s not totally an affordability thing, I just love my XJ.

You know you’re hard core when you’re already out beating the skids and rockers before you even get your plates. Oh... wait... they probably have to come from Alaska... so... ya.. that might take a little while. Still awesome to see. Skip the 35’s though. Just go 37’s..! Little lift and 37’s would be still a great daily and be better off-road. Love the new outtro lately too 👍🏻

Have been at Uwharrie in a side by side and it was so fun. Thanks for the video. I really want a gladiator, and doubt I would be going down trails like these. Thank you for posting this. Tomorrow I'm taking my JT offroad for the first time and I'm looking forward to seeing how it differs from my JKs. Right now mother nature is washing the ORV park for me so the rocks will look their best in my video. Already I know I'll need 35's for that extra peace of mind. In your video, the JT was stopped in its tracks by terrain I'd hardly notice in my JKs. However, you did a stellar job demonstrating that the proper line and tire placement can get you through some relatively gnarly situations, even when driving a sled. I'm also impressed that you shot this on a GoPro- it doesn't have the typical "GoPro" action camera look. Which model do you use and what's your FOV setting? Thanks!

Dutch was a lot more washed out a few weeks ago and a lot more difficult especially for a low vehicle heading towards that rocky section. They have been doing a lot of trail maintenance over the past few weeks to fix the gravel roads and trails from all the wash out over the winter.

All the FCA stuff aside though... let's not forget how people reacted at the 4 door jk... this is just a 4 door with a bed, the right driver will get the job done... as a jeep tech, financier & an enthusiast, these things are awesome...

I don't mind bringing tech to help it make the climb, no problem bc not rocking 3rd on list east coaster & daily driver truck is 1st on list, w/trail or Baha type speed running 2nd on list.
