Jester has a small part near the end of this picture. The entire Hall Johnson Choir, who had come to Hollywood to do "The Green Pastures" were the extras at the last segment of this film, Jester as assistant conductor as well. Paul Robeson got the producers to change the lines for his final speech to reflect his own progressive thinking, but he hated the picture. It is a strange tale, following the path of a coat of tails as it moves from owner to owner until at the end, it ends up with a group of share-croppers (Hall Johnson Choir, along iwth Ethyl Waters and Eddie Anderson) with pockets stuffed with cash. Jester recalls how during a rehearsal for this picture, the radio announcement came annoumcing the raid on Peal Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941.
