This was an awesome interview man. I didn't even think of the "changing your appearance" after completing a contract to move on to the next job portion of the flavor of assassins. It's so so good.

My first event was heavy hitters prerelease, and I drafted a Victor deck. It was fine, but after learning more about other heroes I realized that Arakni resonated with me way more. The lore, the flavor, everything. Loved this interview, your content has been very helpful for me to learn this super fun hero.

I would enjoy watching Arakni's go through a slow journey of power increases and understand that it could take quite some time. However I'd prefer we quickly get to the stage in the journey where in a given meta the debate is "Is Arakni B tier or C Tier right now?" instead of the debate being "Is Arakni C tier right now or some bottom tier we recommend you never play past an armory?". I love the idea of keeping his power cards flavorful and can't express enough that he needs some power that doesn't require hoops to be jumped through. He needs a card that is just for him that doesn't require any extra setup you just either react it on a contract/assassin attack or you play it as an attack. That card needs to be something powerful enough that people wince in the same way they do when other heroes play Command And Conquer/Shake Down/Crippling Crush/Golden Sun/Steelblade Supremacy/Red In the Ledger/Arclight Sentinel/Blazing Aether/Lumina Ascension the list goes on and on. Coercive is a great card and I love it but it's a card that needs to be combined together with several cards to get good use out of it. Arakni can be punished very hard when trying to keep a bigger hand making it even harder to line up Coercive usage. When I compare it to these other cards it doesn't really hit the same level. Some of the cards I listed even require the same amount or more setup but the payoff is way higher and often the card is in a deck that doesn't play on the back foot most of the game like Arakni does. I can understand the sentiment of stealth being a better archetype overall for assassin it makes a lot of sense. The emotional side of me that loves contract though wants to go 10 rounds with Bryan over it. I really hope it doesn't just fade into the past and we still get heroes where their Archetype is focused on Contract. Arakni and Contracts flavor are my favorite things in FaB.

As someone whose only CC deck is Arakni (and have no plans to build other CC decks at all), I can say that Assassin - Arakni specifically - is an awesome class/hero concept! Mechanically though, Arakni lacks fangs. I find myself becoming more heavily reliant on _my own body language_ instead of big plays in order to influence my opponent to make subpar decisions. I also find that Arakni is an okay fatigue hero and an okay midrange hero, as opposed to leaning heavily towards either archetype. The contracts always _do_ eat cards though, and that's what I like the most in playing Arakni. Nonetheless, I have loads of fun playing Arakni, and I look forward to more specializations and majestics for them!

I think Arakni even in its current state has play into most of the meta besides illusionist! But I agree no matter what I love the theme and play of the hero.

Me too! Although I believe his fatigue is weak, not mid. Especially when opponents just throw in all their sideboard to counter it. They will run out of life before running out of cards. 1)Araknis ability or 2)contracts need to be tweaked (gaining more silver or go again 3)or make Stealth Arakni an adult. Coercive Tendency isn't as useful as I thought it would be because most opponents won't let contracts hit and above all, assassin cards work best with attack reactions, therefore you have to focus on ONE card hitting. Which also leads to a poor card for card exchange

@@fan-i-am You don't need to hit with the contract attack action to resolve Coercive Tendency's effect; the banished card via Coercive Tendency just needs to fulfill one of the contracts in your combat chain. That said, you save Coercive Tendency for when your opponents are already lacking in blocking equipments. Resolve the first zero-cost 4p contract, and play around two other zero-cost 4ps.

@@AdamCartel yeah I know all that but that's if you save ALL 4 cards while you take damage before Ur turn. So the question is IF U get all that 4 card combo, CAN U deal more damage than Ur opponent did to you? Or at least get a couple of the on-hit effects of those contracts? It just never seems to work out. It feels like you need to play Arakni like Riptide: just play defence cards/reactions, traps and life gains(sigil of solace) The objective of the game is to deplete the opponents life count. Even IF U can fatigue their deck, U still need to do damage. I guarantee you that if Stealth Arakni was and adult CC it would do better than Huntsman

@fan-i-am Coercive tendency is great, even if you only use it to get 2 attacks off. You just need to make sure you play it on a card that you know you can fulfill the contract with. You don't need to hit to get the go again, just need to flip the right card off the top.

I have no idea if Bryan read comments but i'm so happy to hear how he designed Coercive. As an Arakni main who almost quitted the game because of how weak i felt, Coercive made the fun twice as funny for me. It's one of the only card of Arakni deck when i draw her i know i will have fun and i can shift my gameplay. So thank you for such a card.

Love to hear that the sentiment behind the development team is to let those more niche heroes grow better slowly. Having them suddenly get spiked as the best hero in a metagame rather than earn their way there would feel bad. The slow growth rewards those players that really understand the hero and gives them more time to savor that hero before they LL. :)

I don't think I would like viserai as much as I do if I saw his face, I know he has it on his young car, but as an adult he's just a glowing mask in armor and that somehow really appeals to me

Bryan: "I Want Arkani to be able to get more aggressive at the right moment" The answer is right there! Print support for Redback Shroud and stop pidgeon hole reactions to one specific mechanic like Contract and Stealth only reactions goddammit!

Exactly, and stop bottle necking equipment so hard. Shriek razors being tied to only blocking attack actions feels so bad. It's already a 2 cost with destruction, just let it be a regular shred. Let me give any defending card -1

As someone who got lucky enough to pull the Cold foil EA Redback Shroud, I agree so much with this. 😁 I love that card but man it doesn't feel as good as it seems.

I have pit together an arakni list with all the odds and ends and I know it at this point is a skill issue why I haven't won games in events. I am having fun getting better, I this last weekend had every game grind to my tempo but I wasnt able to hold onto it. With time I will only close out more games. I am excited to get there in the future though.

Love your channel and love your content, but I have some constructive criticism because I want to see you grow into a bigger creator. Try and be more conscious of when you breath into the mic. Every exhale took me out of the interview. I hope this didn’t come off as aggressive. Thank you for what you do!

I tried in our rtn during week 4, but 2 draws sadly killed that dream and put me in 10th. Drew against dash IO and Dromai.

Dash io seems manageable but dromai is just auto loss

@simonluk4438 yeah the dash io was only a draw because the player hadn't played in awhile so they having to play a bit slower. The dromai I'm honestly surprised I drew against.
