Talking Pieces of Christie’s Important Watch Auction Spring 2016

We continue our coverage of the main important watch auctions to be held in Geneva this mid May and we now focus on the highlights presented by Christie's for the auction of the 16th of May.
The first watch that we talk about is an exceptional Breguet pocket watch dating from 1800 and is most definitely one of the most complicated watch of its time. Its full name is the No 217 "Montre perpétuelle à répétition à quantième de mois et dates et équation, échappement libre à ancre". A full programme by itself!
We also cover two very rare Rolex that both have been "tropicalized" through time, as well as two special Patek Philippe.

I know this is an old episode but I am rewatching it. I love how the auctioneer at 0.31 in Says “Breguet, the real one!” No dig at Swatch there then! Of course, if he wants to go down that road there are a plethora that comment can be added to which are the darlings of the Auction world top most of which is Patek!

Also, is he sure that gold Rolex has a patinated dial? It looks exactly like the tobacco dials that were on the GMT’s, exactly!

It will be really interesting to see how much these watches will actually fetch. The Patek Philippe would be the one for me. I have started putting in a bit of overtime. No pun intended :) The colour-change of the ROLEXes, now that's quite a remarkable change. First time I have come across anything as extreme as that. But would one actually wear any of these watches? I could not help noticing that the man's gloves appear to be of a higher quality to the ones I use :(
