Horizon Forbidden West is an action role-playing video game developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. I didn't realize she was the voice of Regalla! I knew there was a reason why this scene really resonated with me, besides the dialogue itself. The acting and delivery were superb and now I understand why. This was probably one of my most favorite dialogue scenes in Forbidden West, and something that can easily be missed if you are not aware (after sparing her). I like how they portrayed her, still seething and full of rage and hostility, yet accepting her fate to die on the battlefield. She may not like her current situation, but she is bound by a code to fulfill Aloy's request. A lot better and more realistic than any sappy, sentimental dialogue full of forgiveness and all that.

Regalla's actress blew me away with her performance, especially in this scene. She managed to convey just how menacing and intimidating Regalla was, and u could instantly see why people would look up to her and followed her. She oozed power and yet still showed vulnerability at the same time. Stellar performance.

If you think about it, Regalla became a rebel because of the Red Raids. The Red Raids happened because of the Derangement. The Derangement happened because HADES unshackled the Subordinate Functions. And that happened because of Nemesis' signal. Nemesis' signal was also the reason why Aloy was born. It's all connected.

Man I like her character. She's absolutely vicious all the way down to her core. I actually feel for her, but she's allowed the past transgressions of the Carja to blind her with rage. She only thinks of herself & her revenge now.

That's doing a whole lot of disservice to her backstory. Her family was made an example out of by the Carja. She probably has no family to live for anymore and, as such, the "devastation" seems like a noble goal for her to uphold. The kindness of the new king isn't going to bring back her brothers: the least she could've gotten was vengeance but the Chief was too chicken to call for it. It is not mere vengeance when that is the only path left.

From a story's perspective, Regalla deserved to die after Aloy defeated her in single combat. It's just the thought of killing off a character voiced by Angela Bassett halfway through the game seemed like a waste.

@@aidenparker5955 She was tricked by a dude to suiсidе herself and her people against the Zeniths, she was in no way justified, she was a simple tool, means to an end. Not to mention her motivation was overwhelming vengeance and devastation. To become just like the enemy, to do the thing she claims to hate, it would be like exterminating every German and Japanese person after what some of them did in WW2, even though their leadership changed and they no longer do those things, which leaves you as the only monster. You can't say "peace is just a lull" when you are that exact mоthеrfuсkеr who instigates new conflicts, it's hypocritical and stupid.

Same! Admittedly she's not the first character who I wasn't prepared to spare in this type of story-driven game. Loghain from Dragon Age: Origins didn't avoid his Death, The Man's paranoia and fear, however justified it may have seemed. Nearly destroyed everything he was fighting to protect.

Yeah same. Games be like "oh hey, this character tried to murder you, but maybe spare their life and invite them to your home, you could hear some neat dialogue" - nah bro, they get shanked for that. (All my homies hate Sten and Zevran)

@@steelbear2063 Funnily enough Sten and Zevran are two of my favourite companions, though it's purely for their dialogue with other characters. Well that and they're both sources of info about other places in the world we can't go visit. Dragon Age: Origins at least made all the companions interesting and fleshed out. (Yes even the Mabari Dog) Compared to Mass Effect 2's large cast of characters where despite the loyalty missions, only a few of the characters kept you invested in them. We wouldn't really be losing much if we removed a few, like Jacob, Kasumi or Zaeed. And Morinth isn't exactly super-interesting and would only be chosen over Samara for the sake of a trophy/achievement XD.

Wow, I missed this bc I wanted her bow lol. This is a great performance, one of the best in the game. I would have loved to see her and Sylens in a scene together. Going to need to spare her whenever NG+ rolls out.

When I chose to spare Regalla, I not only expected to have her as an ally, I also expected to see the GAIA base full of Tenakth rebels talking and preparing their weapons for the rescue of Beta and GAIA. As cool as the idea sounds, it wasn't going to be possible anyway considering Aloy wanted to avoid involving the Tenakth tribe in the battle against Far Zenith.

Cuando escogí perdonar a Regalla, no solo esperaba tenerla como aliada, también esperaba ver la base de GAIA llena de rebeldes Tenakth hablando y preparando sus armas para el rescate de Beta y GAIA. Por muy genial que suene la idea, de todas formas no iba a ser posible teniendo en cuenta que Aloy quería evitar involucrar a la tribu Tenakth a la batalla contra Far Zenith.

I like how at the end of each line of dialogue, it becomes apparent that she has made total peace with her defeat & is 100% resigned to her fate. It's... interesting. No struggle, no attempt at revenge against Aloy when she's not looking. It seems she does at least have a sense of honor that goes beyond even her unyielding rage.

Finally getting around to finishing Forbidden West. Angela Bassett does an amazing job here/elsewhere and definitely deserved more screen time, but I also cannot help but feel like the things Regalla says here confirm (for me at least) that the decision to kill her is the correct one. All of it is poor logic from Regalla's standpoint if her end goal is truly to cause the Carja and Hekarro as much pain as possible, and the fact she still cannot recognize how petty and insignificant her hatred and war are even after having a greater understanding of the threat they face show Aloy should not second guess killing her.

This is the only way to know the names of regallas brothers who were set alight by the red raids I do understand her revenge tendencies but hearing from literally every tribe about how the tenakth and the utaru pushed back the carja out of barren light and massacred its defenders its obvious she's taking it too far because she is going to start a war against people who want peace and weren't at 100% fault for what their king did and she caused a rebellion in her own tribe killing dozens just so other tenakth would follow her

Regalla was my Fav character i really thought she would be a real threat ...she should have killed the guy with the beard 😉 and escape with help of the shadow carja for a Future battle where she kills Seyka etc...she could have become aloys hunter so to speak...

I don't get why all the best fighters in this game are women. Regalla, the Enduring, Aloy, Talanah, etc. Men are naturally stronger, have faster reflexes, more endurance, etc. They're literally built for it. That's just a biological fact, not that women can't be good hunters.
