Those are just the people who agreed to be recorded and posted on the internet. I'm sure there were dozens more people they asked. Of course people will try to help, but this small batch of students don't represent all of Korea. I've had Koreans straight up ignore me or tell me they can't help me and just keep walking while I was lost in Korea.

@@amartinez5326 fr, when i went to Korea myself last year as a foreigner, i asked some directions because i was confused and lost, absolutely nobody helped me, thank god there was a kind black dude who helped me with my stuff.

Yeah. Im a half Korean and when I came back to Korea I don't speak Korean. So when I was lost most of the people there cant even help me. I mean I think they want to help but they just cant speak english pretty well

the guy learning french literally spoke with a perfect french accent i was shocked !!!! for having grown up with an east asian language it is really difficult to nail pronunciation for french. heck, it’s really hard for english speakers, too, and it’s much closer to french than korean is!

It's not easy to speak in a foreign language. It's especially harder to speak when put on the spot. Trying to remember an entirely different language, as well as putting that language into socializing with a stranger is definitely a task in itself. Major props to these people. Respect for also actually trying to help the two gentlemen.

I was lost in Busan and while crossing the street I asked a girl, in my very broken korean and then tried English, if she could tell me how to get to my destination. She didnt speak but started looking for things on her phone and kindly showed me how to get there. I managed to get back safe because of her. All this to say, the Korean people I met were so helpful and kind, even if they are not comfortable speaking they find ways to help. So 감사합니다 Busan girl, I still remember that kindness.

요즘은 잘사는 집에서 태어나 좋은 교육 받고 공부 잘하고 예쁘고 잘생긴 애들이 훨씬 예의 바르고 자존감이 높아 매너도 좋음. 영어 잘하는 것보다 서울대생 대부분이 친절하게 대해주는 태도가 더 눈에 띄는 실험이네.

This reminds me of the time I was in Seoul, Korea. I was inside the subway station but I wasn't sure how to get to a certain location. There was no one around me, except for a girl standing for a train that's going in the opposite direction. I gently tapped her on the shoulder, and I smiled "excuse me". She turned around and looked at me with a surprise and then smiled. I asked her for direction in English and she spoke almost fluent English. She spoke very softly and explained to me. I then smiled at her , thanked her. Our trains arrived, we waved goodbye to each other and she smiled back at me one last time before going on her train.

자사고였어서 기준이 좀 다를텐데요 한 2.6등급 나왔던더 같습니다. 2학년 2학기부터 끌어올려서 3학년 1학기에는 문과 일등 찍었었네요. 본인이 가고 싶은 학교나 학과가 있으면 목표를 정하고 자신감을 가지세요. 근거없는 자신감은 훌륭한 추진 연료입니다.

That is absolutely the very first thing I do when someone asks me for directions on my campus. I have an app with a map of the campus and all the numbers of the buildings. I know where to go in my everyday life because I know this is the library, this is the house where they do tutoring, this is the house with the labs, that is the house with all the rocks in the hallways. To this day I don't know what number those buildings have tho. Also I only know the buildings relevant to me, I wouldn't know where the education students go cause I don't do that xD

Oh, that's what they would do even if he asked in Korean! Nobody in Seoul knows what any of the streets are called. Every building has two completely unrelated addresses. And when you use a map for step-by-step directions, it says things like "Turn left at this cafe" or "Take the crosswalk at this bank" or even just "Turn right" (with no other info because it assumes you'll look at the map to see when to turn). It's absolute madness and yet somehow it totally works. Thank God for technology!^^
