John Oliver is really good at making long, boring or just massive things understandable without simplifying too much. He’s an excellent alternative to trying to read the 900 pages, especially if you’re prone to angry nausea, like I am. (I had to edit, because my keyboard changed to Danish and I didn’t notice. 😖)

I love John Oliver. But I can’t binge him or eventually I will lose the will to live 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ But I agree! He’s actually really informative, shares relevant sources for follow-up, and often has a call-to-action for those interested in ACTING on the issues he presents!! I kind of wish our real media at least added the humor of John Oliver if they are going to fail at effectively being the 4th estate 🤷🏻‍♀️

One of the things I would do if I were in the Biden camp is remind the people how the system works and what the 118 has accomplished. With what the president wanted to pass and make laws. Rather than bog that system down with nonsense.

Good point. A president can't do it alone. The "do nothing" Congress has passed the least number of bills in US history. Pound away at what they voted against. Pound away at Biden's accomplishments. Pound way at the fact trump is a convicted felon.

Trump has no beliefs of his own. He hears the grievances of the people he’s talking to and reassures them he understands and is going to do something to address these when in office. These promises vary depending on to whom he’s speaking.

It is going to take venues like this to point out project 2025. Educate the public so they do know about it. America deserves entire news programs on this. They deserve prime time programs on this. They deserve all the efforts we can provide. Great show!

I think they first created a plan for Reagan and have been submitting such plans to each subsequent president. I believe they also calculate the percentage of the plan that each president is able to carry out. So they know they won’t get everything. But they have target metrics they hope to accomplish 😫😞

Why do we think he will stop only at what he says? Why would he stop with P 2025? There will be no law. Also - why in the world do we have only three requirements as to who can run;? I think most Americans already think that marrying a non-citizen gives the person the right to stay in the US, if not automatic citizenship. At least I’m pretty sure most Americans would be surprised that a noncitizen spouse can be deported.

I listen to your discussions regularly and enjoy the discussion. However, I must strongly disagree with the statement made “no one wanted to overturn Roe v Wade”. Since it was decided there was a large portion of the population who did. I think this was a main driver of the conservative movement and the election of Ronald Regan. The complaint in the 1970s was that this was judicial legislating… un democratic…what has changed then is social acceptance by some, maybe even a majority, but nowhere near all.

I have no doubt you believe that - however the numbers do not reflect that at all. Lets be clear about some hard ground facts - one of the cornerstones of conservatism is to keep the government out of your lives - so in fact the most liberal abortion laws in the country were instituted by republican governors. Abortion became a significant issue as a shift away from busing as a social divider. It was part of the southern strategy- the Catholic church was the only group that opposed abortion. So the republican party believed that they could attract midwestern catholics and the moral majority - CNP - Paul Weyrich and Jerry Fallwell identified it as a keystone wedge issue. They circulated this through their growing right wing networks - and southern baptists that is where the bulk of the anti - roe v wade has been cultivated. Still represents at most 30% ish no where near a majority

I love this podcast, and I listen to it every Monday morning on KZfaq. My biggest gripe is that I often don’t know who is speaking unless Harry calls out their name. Is there no way the individual portraits, that I study closely throughout the podcast, be highlighted or otherwise identified during the discussion? I realize it would slow things down if each speaker self-identified, or was named by the moderator in turn, but I would like to know who is speaking at any given point. Not everyone’s voice is as distinctive as Harry’s, nor am I as familiar with as many guests as I am the host. Again, I love the show.

It often sounds like they are able to see each other when they are recording. I’ve heard random comments or questions nestled in the middle of an episode that felt like they were on a platform like zoom or something. Would love a video option!!

On the immunity case, it seems like Barrett was inclined to rule narrowly on the facts. That now seems like the best case outcome. Alito et al clearly want to figure out how to grant immunity to ONLY Trump and not Biden. Crazy.
