TalkTV's international editor Isabel Oakeshott joins Kevin O'Sullivan and Alex Phillips to discuss another torrid week for Rishi Sunak and the Conservative party.
It comes after rebel Tories have given Rishi Sunak six weeks to turn around the party's fortunes in the polls as one of his own ex-advisors joined those trying to oust him.
The Prime Minister is facing questions over his leadership among members of the party, but has reportedly been given the chance to redeem himself with two by-elections on the horizon.
Former cabinet minister Sir Simon Clarke went public this week as he said Mr Sunak is on course to lead the Conservatives to a 'shattering defeat' at the next election.

I had hopes for Truss, what she proposed was actually half decent for getting the nation working/producing. She must have been good too, look how fast they got rid of her and installed the person they backed from the start. She released a handful to a few selected fellow journalists and justified betraying Hancock's trust by saying it was 'in the public interest'. Then, as far as I can tell, she kept the rest of the messages to herself, effectively protecting him. Public interest, indeed.. But she's capable of the impressive skill of 'talking sense' i.e. stating the obvious. So everyone thinks she's great.

I have given my loyalty to the Conservative Party for over 40 years and 'beyond fed up' doesn't even come close to describing how much I despise what the recent Conservative governments have done. She is 100% right though, pretty pointless changing Tory Leader because it is too late - damage has been done and there is not enough time left to put it right - to be honest, I wouldn't believe anything they promised to do any way.

I agree, there have been times in the past when I was not happy with them but I still voted Conservative as a tactical vote to prevent another party getting in. But this time they have gone too far. Won’t be voting for them even though I know that this and people doing similar will hand the safe seat over to the Lib Dems.

I read the Rwanda Bill yesterday. It is very dreary but lists a number of ‘safe countries’ such as Albania and Jamaica. They are deemed safe unless the claimant states they are at risk of everything covered under the Human Rights Act 1997. Then they country is no longer safe and the inevitable appeal is lodged and they stay here Pointless

In the last 7-8 years we have had the referendum, basically the left v centre right. Woke and Diversity, the left v centre right. Net Zero, the left v centre right. Immigration, longer than 8 years but again left v centre right. So what good is a Conservative govt with a mixture of the two in today’s UK world? We have now in UK one party.2 wings of the Lib Dems.A Left wing called Labour and Right wing called Conservative.Reform are probably the only ones at least offering something different.

Why, they both multi-millionaire have leaders with no understanding of government and their polices don't make sense, we have a worker shortage so let's have net zero immigration, schools & Hospitals are in danger of collapsing so let's give the rich a tax cut which just happens to benefit the party leader.

@@steveholmes381if you listen to what Richard Tice said, he wanted to be more selective with migration, so we get more skilled immigrants over the freeloaders. Also there are plenty of workers, there's just a lot of people who refuse to work as they don't see the point when they give all of their wages away paying bills. They need incentivising and his plan is to reduce wasteful spending that currently happens, and raise the tax threshold to £20k. I'm not saying he will be perfect but I cee a lot more faith in what he's saying than Labour, and the tories have proved by their action that they are an awful choice for this country.

I speak as a retired police officer,hardly the type you would expect to advocate a societal change of enormous magnitude.However the time is long overdue for us to dismantle the current, deeply corrupt system of government that we currently have.
