We need to ditch fullbacks and go for a 3-2-4-1 system utilising our strengths, which are in attack. Here's my team in that formation: Pickford, Stones, Maguire, Branthwaite, Rice, Mainoo, Saka, Bellingham, Foden, Palmer, Kane. I picked Maguire because Southgate tends to never leave him out. I'd have preferred Ben White in there but that's not happening.

Modern football isnt about fixed positions any more, except for the goalie. Really good players can play in different positions, apart from centre backs , which is more specialised.

Sean Longstaff(35 games, 8 goals, 2 assists) has better stats than Curtis Jones(23 games, 1 goal, 1 assist) this season so I'm not sure how Curtis is even getting a look in. Even young Lewis Miley(17 games, 1 goal, 3 assists) is statistically better while playing far less games than Jones🤔

I’m not bantering or mocking when I say this but Harvey Barnes should have been in the preliminary squad every day of the week over Grealish based on actual form and ability. Barnes is low key one of the most underrated England players out there and is a proper winger who actually looks to combine, assists, score, work hard, and track back. He’s massively underrated.

With the players Gareth has picked, we have to play 3-2-4-1 Pickford Walker. Maguire. Stones Trent/Gallagher/Mainoo Rice Saka. Jude. Foden. Palmer Kane The 4 can be fluid and interchangeable. Kane will drop deep so we'll get Bellingham and Foden running into forward spaces. Saka, Palmer, Trent, Walker and Gallagher can provide width when needed

England have a lot of depth in midfield and attack, but they are quite weak in defence and GK. Furthermore, i wonder how Southgate will position Foden in attack. In a 4-3-3, Kane in centre, Bellingham as a 10, Saka is on the right wing and Foden would then be on the Left which is not his best place. England has a good selection, wonder if it's the good equation.
