On several occasions some first team players had only returned late the night before, from internationals on long haul flights ie Allison Becker from Brazil, Nunez from Uruguay, Diaz returning from Columbia etc Unfair to force them to play early with jet lag when it’s not equally done to Man City and others

After that, they can play up to 4 playoff series (up to, though not typically, 28 games) of the most intense, physically demanding games you can imagine. I do agree, however, that the league should balance some of the games for teams in the CL knock-out stages.

The point EVERYONE is missing is that the average person pays hard earned money to watch their team. They want to watch their players at peak performance. They’re athletes. Poor Scheduling robs the fans of seeing their heroes at their best.

Sky and BT are horrible they don’t even show the game. Constantly playing or showing replays and then miss the next action. The atmosphere at the ground never comes through as it’s diluted out for some reason. The commentators talk over the songs before the game where really the cameras should be soaking up the atmosphere before the game. But they go to close up shots of managers faces right before kick off. Sacrilege! Like footy on tv don’t get me wrong but even goals get missed due to replays and commentators need to know when to shut up.

Have you actually seen the stats on Liverpools 12.30pm kick offs, miles ahead of every other club. Liverpool have suffered a lot of injurys. So no doubt its fair for klopp to say, if there wasnt so many games and such quick turn arounds for his team, some of those injuries dont happen. We only have to look to the US who have multi-million dollar sports with massive off seasons, to try and make it as entertaining as possible by reducing injury and fatigue. Sky and TNT are actually biting the hand that feeds them, as eventually the product will get worse if they keep absusing the players.

No thought is given to the fitness and stamina of footballers, and it hasn't stayed consistent since the inception of the Prem in 93, it has gotten worse, while as Jurgen rightly says the additional European matches will further add to the strain. So knowalls like Jordan can harp on all they like about being financially realistic but Klopp's point was "dont start saying English teams are failing when the reason why is there for all to see". Basically, Klopp is getting as many truthbombs in as he can while someone of his caliber is sitting in the chair. Hopefully Slot will take a leaf out of that same book.

Players are constantly getting injured but the fixture lists keep getting fuller.

It's not the amount of games these players play. As they are not sprinting for 90 mins, it's stop/start/walking and light jogging for the majority of the game. It's the training in between games in my opinion that introduces fatigue.

Im a liverpool fan and yeah we do have a lot of 12:30 kick offs but thats because people all over the world want to see us. We dont do enough gamesmanship like fergie used to do and dive for pens and win fouls and pull people back. Thats what we need to start doing. If refs are doing us on var and making us play early kick offs we need to dive for pens and cheat, make it a horrible game to broadcast. Suarez it up bite someone

Personally i think the ideal solution would be to set a Maximum & Minimum limit for appearances/minutes throughout the season for the entire 1st team squad. Perhaps with an emphasis of using the clubs youth players.

It’s not that they can’t play at 12;30. It’s about being able to play somewhere near your professional best. These players are athletes first and footballers second. You cannot expect them to perform at their highest level if playing three games in six weeks. Just look at the amount of injuries this season,not just Liverpool,but most of the top clubs 🤷‍♂️

I find the live commentary on TNT patronising, repetitive and missing any excitement or useful info. It doesn't add to the viewing experience and only makes me think, shut up, the football is great and you are ruining it.

12.30 slot works well for people like me in Australia who get to follow a game starting at currently 9.30pm which helps me stay up till midnight when the other games start.

Messi and Ronaldo played around 60 games every season. So did the likes of Kross, Modric, Xavi, Iniesta, etc. Never seen one manager or player complain about too many games. I do agree that timings could be better, but this too many fixtures, player welfare is bullshit!

Klopp is completely right. CL teams should be playing Friday night before Tuesday games, Saturday lunchtime before Wednesday games. People will still watch. It works everywhere else in Europe. TNT would do even better if English teams went further in the competition because they've got the rights to it.

The English FA and the SFA in Scotland are the only 2 Football Associations that don't help their teams out. La Liga reschedules Real Madrid and Barcelona games for example, when they have a big game coming up in the champions league semis for e.g, and Italy, German, Dutch and French all do the same. So why are we not helping out our teams? Because our teams would win more, and be injured less!

it's not all about playing when it suits them, it's an obvious disadvantage if you play more early kickoffs than the other teams. less recovery and worse atmosphere is something that should be shared between all clubs

There is no more football now than 30 years ago. Today, the clubs have bigger squads and better pitches.

12.30 is a horrible time for a footie match in any form, especially for a proper game as every supporter hates it.

Get on with it - broadcasters pay clubs millions in TV money, if it wasn’t for that, Liverpool and other “money” clubs wouldn’t be able to spend what they spend. Liverpool are a world wide brand, and moving KO to maximise income makes sense (like I said above, Liverpool FC benefit from this)

Here's another way of looking at the topic of this discussion ...The arthritic 38 year old Postman is obviously a fan of one of the teams that Jurgen Klopp has owned during his time at LFC. Herr Klopp has been vocal about match scheduling for years now and, to his credit, he's stuck to his guns about this. I really don't think that he ever expected a major overhaul of broadcast scheduling, and if anyone can't see his point - especially when it comes to the April 2024 LFC match scheduling - I don't know what I can do for them. Sorry, Jim, but you obviously sold your soul long ago. At least Herr Klopp has some guts, which is more than I can say for most of the so-called "football analysts" I've been listening to since our league was supposedly "bankrupt"!
