As a talonflame main since launch, talon no longer does well charging to the front of the lines and eliminating as many Pokémon as possible before it goes down like Absol, gengar, and zeraora. Heading to the back of the lines is always the way to go in a team fight, targeting squishy or low HP Pokémon or, if you play brave bird aerial ace, waiting for the enemies to be grouped up so you can get your aerial ace resets. This isn’t a bad Pokémon as long as he’s used correctly.

As a talonflame main, I see this video as an absolute win

I started playing Talonflame earlier this year. I made my own Cooldown build with 7 black emblems, energy amp, float stone, and razor claw, and it's been working pretty well! I've been getting better results than I used to with it. Thanks for the advice!

I'm actually playing a brave bird/aerial ace talon with muscle band, scope lens and razor claw, and I'm basically an assasin that you can't see upfront, i jump on opps back row, make few aerial ace resets, pick a KO or two and disappear, it's pretty fun

i tried playing the birb with full crit stuff and float stone, and i may have done 150k damage and 15 kills… next game i did 40k and we surrendered but we dont talk about that

They need battle item/ held item pages so you can switch a full set of items in one go. Pre-made pages that way you can switch for the build you want to play with.

Score shield, Atk Weight and Float Stone, with Movement speed emblems is my go to build. I've been going lane with it and its been amazing (bc im tired of fighting for jungle in solo q lol)

I think you have to go razor claw over attack weight, the value added in the fly -basic - flame charge - escape or basic again is huge and scales off of talons high attack stat. Stacks can be difficult in some games, esp. since talon is often jungling, and do not add as much proportionally to an already high attack stat. Also dominating in that first gank or two is really important as talon will fall off late game no matter what item set you use, and razor claw is best for that purpose. I am looking forward to trying the black emblem set. I didnt realize it was an option now.

just started using talon yesterday, this video was perfect. ive experimented with both movesets but i feel like i enjoy brave ace better, but fly can be really fun too, i have to try that emblem build for sure! i run cookie, weight and razor for brave ace

I tried the build and boost emblems you recommended. That's freaking good and comfortable for this pokemon. In that game, I was experiencing lagging in first 4 mins of the game because of my wifi connection was unstable. After that, the connection was stable enough to take part in the game and I took buffs and knocked opposing pokemons out. I didn't score a ton of goals because I didn't have enough time because of poor wifi connection. But I somehow managed to score 96 goals and my team won the game. Not a bad one though. Thanks for your guidance for tips and tricks

The set I've been using is score shield, attack weights, score cookie (I used to use float stone). And my attacks was flame charge and fly. But I like Aerial ace for healing, and I went brave bird. Mainly cause it can get me in and out of a fight faster than. Fly . The reason I went score shield is it makes it ezr to get attack weight stacks . earlier.. and having cookie for more hp means score shield's- shield is bigger.

I don't know, i just love this pokemon so much. Like, it's a heckin fire hawk with one of the best design and cry in whole Pokemon universe. (Yep, fire type is my favourite type. And I like birds, eheh) And he is still my main from very beginning of the game... kinda. Even tho it kinda lost it's value. But i still love my Talonflame. I even used one in Pokemon Go back in the days and it did really well! I named him Gosha, btw :D And later, after Pokemon Unite was released, I saw Talonflame on the starter pokemon choose screen and I immideately picked him. So, our time to reunite and shine has come once again. Not without pain and numerous failures, my pal Gosha managed to bring me to master rank every single season. Unfortunatly, my birb isn't in a best spot right now :( I hope, someday they will do something that will bring Talonflame back to meta, hehe~✨

Playing this last night. If you read the unite from espeon, fly has a longer duration, so you can escape the damage and immediately punish

Being a Athena main in Smite i quickly learned and fell in love with our Talo here.

I just thought of something. Acrobatics has such a good mechanic of balance in the main game. Why can it not be adopted by Unite? If you have 3 held items, it does base damage. If you have 2 held items, it gets a 15% damage increase and 5% crit chance. If you have 1 held item, you get 30% damage increase and 10% crit rate. And if you have NO held items, it gets 45% damage increase, 10% crit, and heals you a set amount I'd like the gimmick build to have actual use. Held items change the game entirely. Having a pokemon focused on acrobatic's high burst damage sounds like a great speedster primary move. Take a pokemon like Crobat or Archeops in the game. Crobat has great speed and decent attack, perfect speedster. Archeops could be an all arounder, and the defeatist ability would help with some busted stats. Like near Zacian level stats at the beginning of fights, but the second it comes under half health then it has to retreat. Have a different color health bar like Slowbro and it can only overcome the defeatist ability by regaining health by sitrus berries (no Greedent oran berries), returning to base, or goal healing

i am really waiting for umbreon cause my main role if defender and my play style suits it stay ahead be the tank mainly snorlax is being underrated as i play him he is pretty amazing defender in game rn his block can setup crazy stuff

Im a talon "main" (try to play every mon don't find sticking to one character in any game as fun but still play talon more than any other) anyway as i was saying im still very new to unite so this is very helpful

I am a talon main, but i will say a good zacian can be very hard to overcome if comes into your jungle early. On the reverse though if you can get the levels you need, even zacian can be punished

My personal tip (even though I'm not that great) is to have a "healthy fear" I find that people are either too self sacrificial, bloodthirsty, or just run away at the slightest scent of danger when playing speedsters

I played Talonflame toward the end of last season and climbed another 200 points. Very fun playstyle.

I would say that Talonflame's biggest issue is simply how many bad matchups it has. It lacks the damage and bulk to easily deal with most supporters, defenders and all rounders on its own and is really dependent on fly for most of what it does

I love this charector but I can't play the fly build without razer claw because of fly into razor boosted auto and then either flame charge away or use it to kill.

I've been playing Talonflame since day 1. There's probably not a single wall untouched by my Unite Move at some point ... but for real, I definitely main Fly. A good bird knows when to eject and when to play tactical nuke.

that gardevoir rushing to score is probably poor judgment in the panic of possibly losing today alone i’ve retreated in two diff games with a full 50 points after winning rayquaza, because enemies were about to respawn and gun it for our goal, and i’m way more useful sniping enemies on goal than trudging across the map and dying

Huh , regarding talon, where to start ...... Talon is SO underrated it's almost quite criminal. I think people are not giving credit to float stone + gale wings passive + flame charge low cooldown and fly how fast you can get around the map. What talon fame does best is control the flow of the game. I can't tell you how many times I've secured the kill on zacians who try to run with agility when they are losing. Water bear is also food with razor claw attack weight fly flame charge combo. You invalidate defenders cus you can simply fly in the backline and snipe out enemy decidueye and espeons. It's the mobility that makes talon so good. You can pull out of fights that you are losing safely if you see the enemy is winning and that way you won't give them free exp. Flame charge and float stone help out a lot here. Out speeding petal dance giga drain venusaur is just hilarious, you don't even need fly just flame charge and float stone plus gale wings is enough. When your cooldown is over you can fly on them and then flame charge out (flame charge gives more speed when used on an enemy for a few seconds) and basically you can take them out without them even scratching you. People just blindly fly in on enemy base and then brawl with the enemy ad then complain that talon is not good Players don't capitalise on talon's strength. Which is to control the battlefield. So many times I have saved a goal from being scored by 40 50 points by an enemy cus I knew I was fast enough to make it in time. If I see my teammates clustered on one lane I make my way to the other goal to protect, sure enough I make it in time to protect it from enemy who is trying to make a quick score. Basically it helps me fix the holes my team makes and cover them. I sometimes backcap at 2:04(if some enemy are on cooldown) And able to score junky 70 or 100 points . If someone comes or I see someone jumping from the jump pad, I immediately fly out. Back capping is not good in most situations though but sometimes while it's not great it won't be bad either Either I score and put my team ahead in points so no we don't have to go for ray but instead protect it and focus on the enemy instead. Or I don't score but I am not a liability for my team by dying. Also I arrive on time for ray cus I blackcap before the 2 minute mark But that is still risky business and honestly depending not how to game is proceeding and the position of my teammates, number of goal zones destroyed and number of enemies backcaping. I don't blackcap . Backcapping most of the times will loose you more matches than it will win. Backcapping is the single biggest reason why I used to lose matches with talon. Learning when it is a good idea and when it is bad is important. Your top priority with talon is not to score, but to help your team wipe out the enemy team. Take advantage of your mobility and use it against the enemy . The unite is an amazing defensive mechanic against regileki, and helps displace the enemy team formation. Honestly with a Pokemon who has tools to escape like talon, you should not have an excuse of dying to the enemy unless it was when your team was pushing against the enemy in a team fight. Dying at the ray fight is fine but you also took out enemy espeon at full health and urshifu also so that is a major advantage for your team. And even at low health it's not really that bad cus with fly you're invulnerable to damage . Taken out like so many pokemon on at decently high hp with fly and boosted auto attack at almost 10 percent hp on talon. Fly is decent secure on ray also.But of course knowing when to pull out if you see you're gonna get killed is key. Honestly, with all the tools talon gets to escape, you should not be having an excuse if you are dying multiple times in a match. Also invading after getting fly is great. You can get their blue and red buff. You can distract their carry to run after you( they will never catch you ;) ) Their lasers sometimes assist them in taking care of annoying invaders. Which is also great cus fly is one of the few moves that actually helps you escape from the opposite side of the map successfully even when multiple enemy Pokemon are after you Also, ALOT of the times brawling is fine with talon but you have to pick your moment based on the enemy Pokemon and where not the map the fight is taking place. Those massive 1.5 k boosted attack help one shot squishes also. One of the highest attack stats in the game(it's close to 600) . Stacking is great, try to stack early on but don't over commit. You can get the remaining stacks quickly once you get fly. Just don't give the enemy free exp just to get stacks in early game. It can snowball the match against your team. More than exp, dying putting you on cooldown is the real problem, which basically leaves the match at a 4v5 for a little while, simply the fact that your presence is not there can turn the flow of the match to the enemy's side. In lining early game you dying makes it a 2v1 and your lane partner is basically bullied by the enemy scoring or stealing their farm until you arrive( which is the time it takes for you to reach your lane + spawn cooldown timer)Especially at ray the team that gets the first kill is at a BIG advantage cus you re basically fighting at a 4v5 for the next 25 timer counts approx. By the time you respawn your team is dead and you are alone. Wrote this without my glasses and am tired so my genuine apologies if you had a stroke reading this😆. Thanks for sticking with me so far. Talon is my 2nd most played mon, and while he can be super fun at times, he is SO matchup dependent. He's a melee fighter with basically the same endurance as Decidueye, so any stray CC just ruins him so hard. There are certain mons where, if they don't die to the Fly, you're dead because they just turn around and kill you uncontested with CC that stops your flame charge/eject button. Pika is a good example of this, where if he has Volt Tackle/Electro Ball, he literally doesn't even have to aim to just click each ability and punish you for leaving him at 1%. With the introduction of speedsters like Dodrio who just have constant insane speed, Gale Wings feels really underwhelming. I think a better way to rework it would be if above 85% HP, instead of gaining 10% move speed, it would be unstoppable during its moves. So you get rewarded for outplaying obvious auto target CC immediately after you land, but it also gives value to Talon's other moves besides Fly (since Fly wouldn't really benefit from it), which has always been a tough balancing aspect of Talon since Fly is basically the only thing of value he ever brings.
