Something I don't normally do as a stand alone video but today we are going to dive into the finally.. I mean, recently released 2021 Ford Bronco kit from Tamiya on the CC02 chassis. This is a new chassis type for me so I was eager to dig in and see all the bit sand pieces as well as the body set. Sadly I don't have time to build it yet so me rummaging through the boxes and bags is all I can do for the moment!
You guys are all awesome and I appreciate all the great comments and questions from everyone. Really enjoying talking to you all in the comments section.

It is a first for me so I am not sure what to expect from it. I do not have high hopes of it being incredibly capable so I am hoping with low expectations I will be rewarded with a great experience. I don't think it is a bad kit kit by no means but I have built and run a handful of very capable crawlers so the bar is fairly high for it! I am not expecting anywhere near that performance so I am hopeful it will surprise me! I do know it is going to look amazing as the body shell is fantastic!!! I am debating on the full roof rack though. It looks a little too safari to me but we will see once I can get to building it!

Hey mate . You could try painting the body first then cut away the overspray over the fenders and paint on the top . That’s what I’ve done with the landrover and a few others and it works a great and far quicker and easier than masking imo . I’ve got the trx 4 bronco but I do really like the tamiya take on it to . Cheers Addam 👍
@AddamsPlayground
@AddamsPlayground Жыл бұрын
I could but I need to keep the tape game strong! I need to keep up with masking off stuff so I stay sharp at it! I have seen it done and I may end up doing both as the black underneath may look too glossy as the real fender flares and roof do have a more matte finish to them. So I may pain it underneath and spray the from the top as well. I am slave to the old school has to be painted from underneath still.... I can't help it!!! Too many years of learned habits! I do love the TRX4 version but it is a pricey one and I already have a small stable of crawlers so it is still a possibility as I do not have a TRX4 with all the shifting and locking options so there is a case to be made I do need one!! I do really like the new Chevy pickup they just announced too, I am not a Chevy guy but even I love the old square body trucks!!

I have a feeling the light controller is not going to get used and I will use one that has actual function and the motor and ESC may get swapped as well. I loved my CC02 build (the G500) and have used it a couple times. The kit tyres were binned straight away for some softer ones. I went with 1.55 wheels/tyres combo. Quite impressed straight out of the box. Much more capable than the CC01 chassis. the CC02 is brilliant on the trails and light 'crawling', I locked both diffs on mine. I will modify it further down the line, but am going to enjoy it as it is and thinking I should take both the CC01 & CC02 out and do a video of them together...
@AddamsPlayground

Yeah, I was shocked at how stiff those tires are! I was wondering what they thought I was going to haul around in there!!! I have crawlers weighing twice as much riding on way softer tires with no issues! I do thing some 1.55s would look a bit more scale than the 1.9s would but I may get it built and see. I am thinking the tires size may be in issue but again, until it is built I won't know. I think a comparison of the two would be a great video! I am not sure if they make another tire for these but the ones that came with it were hard enough it is something I would expect on a toy grade car. Wow! That is really a great price! I think for collection wise I'd buy the F350 but for a fun one to actually drive and enjoy it I'd go with the Bronco. Now I have not built or run either one yet but I do know the F350 from a lot of other sources is the very stiff and rides really rough and rigid. The CC02 should be a much softer and easier to stay on its wheels type of truck. Being a builder and collector my knee jerk reaction would be to get the F350 but for a real world driver and kit to enjoy while you are over there the CC02 Bronco would be a better choice probably. Could never understand what servo saver does? Do you need if you have a 12kg metal gear servo!
@AddamsPlayground
@AddamsPlayground 4 ай бұрын
They were really needed years ago before metal gear servos were inexpensive and readily available. It adds some impact resistance in to the steering. With the tires always hitting things and taking the brunt of a lot of tumbles the servo gears can strip easily as they are very fine teeth on them. I have rebuilt a lot of old plastic geared servos back in the day! Basically it has one fixed point onto the servo shaft and one fixed point to the steering linkage and in between is a C-shape plastic ring that allow the two halves to pivot under the stress of the tires getting pushed away from the way the servo is trying to push it. Once the impact is gone the C-shaped ring forces the two sections to realign and the tire goes back to steering the way the servo is pushing. Push your hands together palm to palm and imagine one side is the servo and the other is connected to the steering linkage. If you servo hand moves then the other one wants to follow along. But, if you stop the linkage hand and the servo hand is trying to turn the it strains the servo and that can damage it, if you force the linkage hand the other way then it really puts a huge strain on the servo. Now imagine you have a rubbery disk in between you palm and one tries to stress the other there will be some give and it will want to return it back to the position the servo side is at one its own. That is the servo saver doing its job. I hope that helps. In crawlers they are generally not used and the servo gears are usually full metal and the motors in the servos are strong enough to hold the position. In faster cars the impacts can be much quicker and the servos are mode for speed and precision and not brute strength so a servo saver is more common in them to keep things running properly for a lot longer.

@@SRG-HITMAN-11 The kit ones should be fine but it is not a terrible idea to hold onto the ones you bought as I have had some last for many, many tumble and crashes and not break and I have had a few that broke with little impact at all. So may be a good thing overall you will have spares just in case!

As hinted through the comments... Kit Tires are GARBAGE! I've got a CC-02 waiting to be built, the Unimog. You're right - NOT a Crawler! But it doesn't pretend to be. I think it will make a nice Trail Truck! Enjoy!! 😉

Of your wheel choices... A, B or C.... I choose D!!! 😜 Try to find MST CFX 88mm or 92mm Tires. Similar in size to Tamiya - NOT made of VINYL like Tamiya! The MST are much softer.

Yeah, I don't have any intentions of taking it out on the rocks. 1 it is going to be too pretty for that and 2 I know it is just going to struggle and chew things up! I do hope it is going to be a cool scale trail truck I may be able to add some extras onto after the initial build. Hope you are feeling better!!

Yeah, pretty much. The chassis and components are not going to be as tough but the looks are dead on!

No, not all the new ones. They just include them in a few, mostly the higher detailed kits like this. TBH it is not a great light kit, it is nice they include it but you can similar or better for $15 from Amazon or eBay.
