In the early nineties I hand built a Clod 4 link chassis and raced it. Took some trophies. Now that same truck is my super class crawler, with a different hand made chassis. Those tires ran so many miles they are now slicks on display next to the trophies. Always had two ESCs, what a beast. It can still out perform my Capra. Not bad for a hand made thirty year old truck. Thanks!

Hey Joe. Good morning. I bought my Clodbuster in 89. I had it till about 7 years ago. I had more than enough fun with it and so it to a guy that him and his dad bonded over a Clodbuster when he was young...so he wanted one he could run with his Dad. I only miss it because I can't hand it down to my kids....tho...none of it was hardly left that was original. At $275....I can always build another one.

I have a real soft spot for classic Tamiya and used to get defensive when they got criticised but in hindsight I think Tamiya bridges the gap between toy and hobby grade RCs: Toy grade plastic parts (brittle) with hobby components, especially on some of their high end cars like the Top Force or the Egress. You can’t really bash them but man they’re still fun as hell.

Dude that rig is a beast and I bet it's a handful to handle. I've got a dual brushless Clod (dual Traxxas Velineon 3500 system) as well with 4 link suspension oh and a homemade aluminum chassis. Great minds think alike huh? One difference is I'm only running one 3s lipo versus your two but it still has crazy power. My question is do you suffer any gear skipping or stripping when you hit the throttle to hard? I're read where one or two other guys have the same issue. Let me know what that great mind is thinking will ya! I'd highly appreciate it.

As someone who has built (and modded) a lot of clodbusters, I got to say, hats-off for all the details (especially the lighting). Not sure if you know, but the stock motors will run a 3S just fine (they can take 4S for short periods as well). I still run the stock chassis on my current clodbuster, but it is modded for clearance/suspension travel and runs 3S and it takes quite the pounding. I live in the northeast, and these trucks rule in the snow!
@ExocagedRC
@ExocagedRC 4 жыл бұрын
thats good to know, the esc is good for it but I'd have to unplug all the lights just to be safe. For what it is, 2s will stay in it.
@andymac0035
@andymac0035 4 жыл бұрын
@@ExocagedRC Yeah, I can see why it's easier for you to just stuck with 2S with all those lights. If you ever do want more speed the HPI 15t thunderbolt brushed motors give good speed and are happy on 2S (I used to run them on 3S , but they wore out fast doing that). A happy medium between the two is the RC4WD 20t motor. The key to both of these working is that they have neutral timing so that the rear motor (which runs backwards) doesn't burn up. Here's my current clodbuster running 3S with stock motors. Not the fastest one I've ever built, but definitely the most fun. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ituTppd1mLeRZIk.html

I'd make it into gas operated truck having the cool sound of being more realistic

Yeah that’s a thing I have up there because of the whole KZfaq junk a few months ago. I hope to get a Raminator but it will not be gas. I’d want a dual 1/5 electric setup in there so it has some serious punch.
