In this video, I start a fun car project, to make a shelf queen and a runner Tamiya Super Hornet from 2 used cars I purchased a while ago.
I show you the 2 buggies, I clean them up and show you the parts bin I have accumulated...... Enjoy!

These videos are definitely my favourite so I will be glued to this series. I do have 2 Tamiya builds to do myself. My all-singing-and-all-dancing Plasma Edge II which is going to have all the major bling and hop-ups and my Grasshopper II which looks very similar to your Super Hornet - I guess they share some history. That one will be mostly a stock build but ball-raced of course. I always use metal bearings, there is no point in not using them. I run my converted 2WD brushed Vantage on a 2S and it goes like a rocket with an impressively long run time - almost an hour. My RC builds took a back seat last year as my hobby spending was mostly focused on my third hobby last year - building up my little music studio - so I was buying music software and a synthesizer I'd been wanting for ages. Hobby number two has taken even more of a back seat due to health and mobility issues and I think that is unlikely to change. I've been a keen amateur photographer since I was 13 but I've not been out snapping for 3 years. Hobby number one - my longest serving hobby - is electronics, of course, and that also encompasses RC. It will be very interesting to see how these Super Hornets turn out. I've yet to build a Hornet.

Hi Nick. Glad you like the format of the videos that covers this topic. With hindsight I would have started THREE channels, but I don't want to start again for a third time. Yes the SH is the same chassis as the GH2, I should have mentioned that. It is hard to cover all aspects of it all when talking off the top of your head as I do in my videos. It is all ad lib, so to speak. I forgot to mention Ohm's Law and another commentor has mentioned it. Ball bearings are one of the best hop ups you can do, so simple and so cheap! I might try a 2wd conversion for my Vantage 1.0! Nice idea! Yes you have told me about your electronics hobby.....fascinating. I love all aspects of my three hobbies so I am very lucky to say I genuinely love all three of them. My photography is on the smart phone. The electronics seem to make the most basic photo look good. My SLR is not as good so that is mostly redundant now. This series will be 4 or 5 parts. Next up will be Sunderland Part 2, then Sputnik Part 3 and this one will be stripping both buggies in part 2. Nice to see you Nick 👍

Hi Simon, a great looking original Super Hornet. On the MSC, go very careful with drummel tool, the contacts can also be cleaned of oxidation, by using electronic switch cleaner, try that first (imo). The reason the resistor gets hot on the 1st speed is all down to ohms law 😂😂the resistor is having to sink more of the battery pack current in 1st speed, whereas in 3 speed, full current flow is being sourced to the motor 😊. I’m currently doing a re-release Hornet, so going through memory lane for me . Best wishes 😊😊

Haha.....Hi James. Yes mate.,...getting old isn't much fun! What I do now when I leave a room is I speak out loud the item I am looking for....and then keep saying it as I walk about......lol. Otherwise I have to go back and stand in the same spot for it to come back to me.....lol. Yes...I am always opening boxes and finding a new spray can, or some ball bearing sets, or a hop up....I never even knew I had.....lol. haha 👍😂
