This is absolutely awesome! This is going to cause an explosion in cup industry! 🙌 I still love Yuuki cup and that one hurts too when pulling it out so I do what's called the "hot dog in the bun" where once I pull the cup about half way out, I push the rim inward with my thumb and close the top of the cup a little as I pull it out the rest of the way :)

I'm excited to see a cup that *could* be my goldilocks cup and can't wait to try! Sorry in advance for possible TMI: I'm one of those women who just hasn't quite found THE ONE yet (but I'm close!) due to a combo of low cervix and bladder sensitivity (I've given birth), but also trying to find the right firmness and cup shape as well. The problem has been that most cups are WAAYYY too long. "Low cervix" cups sit below the cervix (as they're meant to), but then that's so low in the canal that I can actually FEEL the cup, which is VERY uncomfortable. So I actually use regular length cups (on the shorter length) with a diameter wide enough so that the cup sits higher (with my cervix actually in the cup a little- I've had no capacity problems), but frequently the pressure of the rim (if the diameter is TOO wide or TOO firm) will cause the bladder/urethra sensitivity issue (it feels like constant low-level burning just like a bladder infection) and will even literally cut off urine flow and I have to remove the cup just to pee!), so cup softness and shape come into play. But if the cup and rim are too soft, it won't open properly so then there's issues with leaking and the cup moving down/coming out when bearing down (I'm talking just sneezing or coughing here!). I'm hoping the Tampax cup will be *that* cup that sits high enough around my cervix so I can't feel it, it's more tapered and not to long, but also won't be too firm around the rim to cause the bladder/urethra issue. Crossing my fingers!

I just used the regular cup for the first time yesterday, I haven't tried the heavy yet. This is my second cup ever(my first was the Femmycycle). I have an inverted uterus, so my cervix ride HIGH all cycle, and I found this cup harder to reach during removal. It took me a good 15 minutes of effort to get it down far enough to pinch the bottom securely. Im going to try the heavy today to see if that is less of an issue. Otherwise, it was very comfortable and no leaks!

Can u make a video about using a menstrual cup while having an IUD
@SeaChelsters
@SeaChelsters 5 жыл бұрын
Kortney La Rosa I am both a menstrual cup user and an IUD haver. I haven’t had any problems thus far, though I am very aware of the possibility of pulling on my IUD strings. I’ve read a few sad stories about IUDs coming out while pinching the cup with the strings dangling inside. Before ever pinching the bottom of the cup to remove, I do always make sure to tug on the stem a bit to pull the cup down and away from the cervix and strings. Honestly I don’t even pinch the base anymore because it worried me too much. My current removal routine consists of gently tugging on the stem to guide the cup down, then I use my middle finger and the mid section of my thumb to pinch the stem only. At the same time the tip of my thumb bends in to punch in one side of the cup. Almost like a one sided traditional pinch, it breaks the seal and folds things in a bit to narrow the cup for the exit. Thus far I have had success in both not pulling out my IUD and not worrying about pulling it out. I did try at one point to probe around to make sure my IUD strings were tucked up and around my cervix before inserting the cup, but I found this cumbersome and it didn’t give me peace of mind about the string placement since they could still shift around. That’s just my experience, but there it is for what it’s worth :) I love both my IUD and Eva Cup. Two of the best decisions I’ve made!

I'm one of those who had a bad experience 🤦 I was using a cup at the same as having an IUD and had done for about 6 months before it came out. I was always careful to break the seal first but I think the strings got stuck between my vagina and rim of the cup and unfortunately it just pulled it out, it wasn't until a few days later that it fell out, I think I probably just dislodged it. 😬

Thanks for your reply. And yes, I have the cycles when day one is a bit heavier, but I dry up all the sooner. I feel like I am pretty full with the lunette small in, and all but the last nub of the stem removed, though I do have a little bit of leaking. I'm never sure if it's residual or not, or if it's the cup and my physiology. But I wear a cloth liner or black underwear and I'm fine. Nothing major. I'm starting to consider period underwear though. I'm so light at night that it seems like I mostly don't need anything, but I'm still wearing a pad just in case.

Question: did you guys find that because the cup 'migrates' higher up closer to the cervix, and since it is more v shaped, that the cervix would sit in the cup and take up a big part of its capacity?
@PutACupInIt
@PutACupInIt 5 жыл бұрын
We both have relatively light periods with a heavy first day. I didn't notice it being an issue on my heaviest day, but I could see where that may be something to consider if you have a very heavy flow and really need a high capacity cup.

I would like to say this is the best cup for me. I've tried different brands but ALL of them gave me bladder pressure and it was almost impossible for me to pee. With this cup I don't have that pressure feeling and I can pee normally and this is really important whenever you're not at home or at night when you don't want to take it out and do the whole procedure, you just want to pee and go back to sleep. Unfortunately at the moment is not available in Europe, I had to ask a friend to buy it in USA and bring it here. Hope it'll be available here soon.

"Big Tampon" 😂😂😂 You guys have really convinced me this cup is worth trying out. However, I'm concerned about removing it. I have to fold my LENA cup into the c-fold when I remove it (and I can only use the punch-down fold to insert lol). I haven't tried removing it without folding. I instinctively fold because I feel pressure and discomfort as I bring the rim of the cup closer to my opening. It just feels like it would really hurt if I just pulled it out fully open.
@PutACupInIt
@PutACupInIt 5 жыл бұрын
You will definitely want to use caution when removing this cup if the LENA was an issue at removal. You can compare their diameters on our measurement chart for an idea of the difference (putacupinit.com/metricchart) but using the pinch and angled method will help with that for the Tampax Cup or others. We have been hearing good things now that general public have had some time with the cup. This is the only cup that didn't work for me. The super wide rim with the narrow body makes the rim compress my urethra, which causes a constant uncomfortable urine leaking sensation. I leaked menstrual fluids after only 3 hours. The large rim causes a messy removal because of a strong suction with the initial tug and a sudden collapse of the cup and spillage. I have been using the large cups of Mooncup UK, Lunette, Ruby, Fleurcup, Yuuki Rainbow, Organicup with zero issues for over a decade.

I'm not sure I understand why Tampax went this route as a business decision. If it turns out that lots of their devoted customers decide to try (and fall in love with) this cup, it'll seriously eat into their bottom line, right? I guess they're hoping to take business from other cup companies, but... If it becomes a real revolution away from tampons and pads toward cups, I'd think that would be a seriously bad situation for their bottom line because cups are so so much cheaper.
@plunkybug

Melanie C probably because they were losing tampon sales with the increased popularity of cups, so offering their own is a way of maintaining sales instead of their customers going to other companies to get cups.

They do recommend getting a new one every year, which I wish was brought up in the video. If you take care of it properly it should last up to 10 years (unless they made their cups cheaply so they degrade faster 🤔). But people who don't know much about cups and don't do research beyond what comes in the pamphlet will take Tampax's word as gospel and toss it. Their sneaky marketing towards the uneducated/potentially poor long term quality product will make sure they keep making money and that pisses me off

Thanks so much for such a thorough and thoughtful review and unboxing. Having multiple trans friends, your comments on the tag line in the unboxing video is well received. I'm having very mixed feelings about this cup, but between your review and itsjustkelli's review, it is something I might try. But I'm not a fan of clear cups so I dunno. Amanda said she has a light flow and prefers the bigger cup. I have a super light flow so it makes me curious. But my super light flow is maybe to the halfway line of my small Lunette after 12 hours and then I taper off. Day two is barely above the top grip ring after 12 hours. Beyond that, I have next to nothing at night and switch to my cloth for the last few days because it seems like overkill for glorified spotting. How does this compare with Amanda, in terms of capacity and such? Also, I had never seen that method for removing a cup. I usually try to do the hot dog in a bun method by essentially pressing in on the cup to put it back into the c fold position to pull it out. I don't know if you have tried that yet with the cups. I find that it is less painful that way. My biggest problem with removing it is as I bear down, sometimes I get a urine squirt surprise which is not exactly pleasant, but hey, I am washing my hands and cup so it's not that bad. But still a nuisance even after I feel like I had finished peeing. I'm still kinda interested in trying this.
@PutACupInIt

On average, I would say my period is fairly similar in terms of flow, but I do have a random one here or there where I'll actually almost fill the cup on the first day, but then have essentially nothing the rest of the time. It's super weird. I haven't done that exact removal, but I can definitely try it. As for size - I preferred the heavy flow option for fit (the small wanted to sit lower because of how it hugged fit around my cervix), but I can't use the small Lunette. It doesn't give me a good seal and I end up with a bit more than residual leaking. If you do try this one, I would expect the small to work better based on that. -A

How do people pinch the base cuz normally I cannot reach my fingers up there in order to pinch the base I always have to bear down (push & gently pull) until I can get the cup low enough for me to pinch the base but I can't put my fingers up there and then pinch the base if that makes sense that being said when I tried to Bear down with the Tampax it is very hard for me to remove it because this cup is made to stay in place and the reason for that is so when you poop you don't poop your cup out which is great it stays in place but then it makes removal for me personally a little bit difficult actually very difficult I need a cup that can stay in place when I have a bowel movement but it's also not so resistant when it comes to pushing and if you're like me this cup isn't for you not because it's uncomfortable or because it's hard to open up inside of you it's because removal can be very difficult

I’ve bled for 28yrs and was never really able to use tampons. First it was a intense hymen situation, then most tampons (Tampax I’m looking at you) expand lengthwise and I could easily pop them out just bearing down - I’ve actually completely popped out one by sneezing. And third I’ve always had heavy and cloty flow, and after my 2 kiddos I’ve legit had clots the size of my palm. I’ve had clots work past a tampon. Bizarre. I think I may try tampax cup, I do have a cup and it works very well for me but i can still bear down on it easily and I’m prone to some terrible GI issues when I start so I avoid wearing a cup because pushing one out in that situation would be awful! I wish I’d known about cups in my teens, but it was a game changer in my late 20s because I couldn’t manage a tampon even for swimming really.

Which cups have the least leaking issues in your experience?
@PutACupInIt
@PutACupInIt 5 жыл бұрын
That's not something we can really answer because for one person a cup will leak and the same cup works leak free for another. I will say that I hear the soft and super flimsy knock-off cups reportedly leak most but that is just because the softer the cup the harder it is to get it to open up and seal. Soft isn't always bad but SUPER soft takes more fiddling to prevent leak so for a better chance of success beginning with a cup that's at least soft/average is best. We have a firmness chart on putacupinit.com/firmness and you can always take the quiz on putacupinit.com/quiz to see what cups are recommended for you based on your body/age/activity level.

I end up squatting/ hovering over the toilet a bit to get the right position. I don't have to do that with my other cup, even when it's really full, but with this one it's essential or it's a huge mess. Don't know why! I also always note how full it is so I can track volume.

Question from a first time cup user. I watched videos from you ladies and itsjustKelli b4 actually trying one. I decided to go with the lena cup and I started with the small and I'm happy I did. I have a heavy flow so I thought I might need the larger cup but the small cup worked just right for me. I never had a leak due to watching the videos and I always made sure it popped one inside. There was a few times where I couldn't get it to pop so I know a softer cup wouldn't work out for me. My only problem I'm having at the moment is that its hurts when I remove it and I make sure to break suction and wiggle it out. Its minor pain putting it in which isn't bad and I use the punch down fold. So is there any tips you can give me to make the cup hurt less when I remove it. I really like using a cup but the pain I get from removal is dreadful. If I have to use a softer cup which one would you recommend. I just don't wanna fight to get it to pop once inside. I'd greatly appreciate your reply.

Teressica Phillips Lena makes a sensitive version which is just a bit softer. I wouldn’t consider it a soft cup - just softer than their original. That may help. Also pinching the cup a bit higher as you remove in a tilt out motion may help.

We have ideas for that. 1: you can offer the cup to a friend if you haven't used it. 2: you can offer the cup to a friend even if you have used it but boil it to sanitize and have them do the same upon receipt as long as both parties are comfortable with it. From a hygiene perspective it's totally fine to do this. 3: burn the cup if it's silicone and it will turn to ash. 4: find a place that accepts used cups for recycling (Ruby Cup does)

Elle, I have the same issues. Even though, I'm 25 I very very petite. First, I would say make sure you are using lube. I always wet my cups and put lube on the rim. I make sure to cover both inside the rim and out. This can make the cup hard to hold so I find gripping it at the base with a firm grip works best. Use the punch down fold. I also either squat or lay down on the floor (my house) where my muscles can really relax. I then insert just the tip of the cup and bear down. Make sure to angle towards your tail. Once you get the pointy part of the punch down almost in stop bearing down. This will kind of help suck up the cup as you push it in. Once, it is in you'll want to make sure it popped open by inserting a finger or pulling it down then pushing up. If it is too painful, don't continue because you could hurt yourself. Hope this helps.
