I never had the original Tamron to compare, but the G2 is a great lens. I use that along with my Tamron 70-180 for events. I was going to get the Tamron 35-150 which is a great lens, but at 72 years of age, I prefer the lighter weigh and wider coverage, 28-180mm, for how I cover events. When traveling light, I then switch to the Tamron 20mm, Sigma 65mm and Sigma 90mm (a very light travel package). When taking images indoor, for a longer reach, I use the Sigma 85mm f1.4 and the Samyang 135mm, f1.8. For landscapes (along with the wider lenses), I will often use the Sigma 100-400mm (though heavier). Macro, I use the Laowa 90mm f.2.8 Macro lens (this lens really blows me away). So for my uses, pretty well complete. Stayed with the A7riii, because for me, 42MP is enough.

I'd love this lens starting at 24. Long end 5mm more do not matter, it is easy to crop, but 4mm at short end is something you often can't compensate.

Amazing shots and great lens i got the older lens and im excited to try it. i wonder if it would be as great as my old zeiss 2470 ssm with adapter maybe not but it will be light for sure 🎉

Thanks for doing this video! I didn't quite catch what you meant Vs the Sigma 28-70. Why do you think this is better? Also for everyday and travel do you prefer this or the Sony 24-105? Thanks all the guidance 🙂

Thank you for watching! you can customise this Tamron via the utility app and it is weather sealed, unlike the Sigma 28-70. I do like 24-105 and that extra reach is certainly more practical when travelling but it is only f4

@@PavSZ do you see this lens as more of an event lens then? Yeah the weather extensive of this lens being greater than Sigma 28-70 is definitely an appeal.

I feel like mine is slightly missing focus once in while, but I don't have a way to confirm it. What will be the slowest shutter speed that you will use for portrait photography? Also will you be able to share few original jpegs?

By the book, you shouldn't go lower with your shutter speed than your focal length of the lens - so no slower than 1/80 at the 75mm zoom of this lens. I have no means to share permanently original files from any of my reviews right now - sorry

Hey Pav looking to buy this lens or the Samyang 24 to 70mm for my Sony full frame cameras. Which would you choose? Which is best? I shoot portraits and weddings. Thank you for your videos, they are great.

they are all good. Samyang is the biggest and the heaviest (and some people report problems with the mount coming off). Still great quality lens. Tamron is a safe bet but you loose 4mm from the wider end. There is also Sigma 24-70 f2.8 - another great lens but make sure you get one that doesn't have dust issues. I talked about it, not long ago in my review of it

If we want to compare this lens with the sigma 24-70 DG DN lens, regardless of the price difference, which option do you recommend? Optical quality is more important to me.

performance wise there would be very, very little between them two. It all comes down to the price, size and weight .... and Tamron is cheaper, smaller and lighter

how is IQ compared to sigma 28-70 mm? Is it true that from 50-75mm this lens is quite soft wide open?

not true at all - this lens performs consistently throughout its zoom range - wide range of samples in my video prove that.

it is smaller and lighter but it's not 24mm .... I also think it might be marginally sharper than the Samyang

Only you could decide which one is the best for you. I believe that they are two totally different lenses. Different focal ranges (although similar), different weight and size

@@kumarthapamagar3496 honest answer ... the best one is the one you don't have, always. Go for the one that appeals to you more and enjoy it. They are both excellent lenses
