Hello ! I have the G2 for 2 weeks now and before it I had the G1 for about 1 year. The G2 focuses faster and more accurate, the eye af is much more sticky on my RIII . Also the corner sharpness is improves and the bokeh, indeed. The build quality is a little better and the programable button is a plus. Overall the new lens is GREAT , I love it ! Is the ideal leans on the Sony mount. I wish they made new G2 versions of the 17-28 and 70-180 too ! I already have the 70-180 and I really, really want the changes of the liitle guy on the big guy ! Especially the Af, on the G2 is much more dependable than on the old lens and the 70-180.

The tamron 11-20 was my first Tamron that I just purchased a couple months ago. I am not a pro and nowhere close to it, just enjoy shooting and also making videos. I was considering this one as a mid range when I saw it on pre order and maybe I will make it happen within a couple of months. Gorgeous scenery and video!

Yeah this lens is great. I tried the Sigma 24-70 and while it's an amazing lens the Tamron is so much more convenient for hiking and walking around. This thing is unbelievably light and small. You might lose 4mm on the wide end but the tradeoff is worth it. Not to mention that the styling of the G2 is much better than the first gen. Lenses like these are why I chose the Sony ecosystem.

I like the old styling look better, but it is much more ergonomically efficient. The customization is insane. But I can’t justify upgrading. I still LOVE my first gen. I’ll probably buy their 17mm first before upgrading

Great video! Not sure if you still have this lens, but, wondering if you have/had similar problems. When stopping down to F10 and above (F10 - F22), a noise comes from the lens (maybe the motor). When pressing the "focus hold" button, the sound stops--but restarts after releasing. I'm using two Sony FX3s (this happens on both of them). Lastly, I sent it to Tamron for warranty repair, and they stated their lens is not guaranteed to work on Cinema cameras, including the Sony FX3. Ironically, I tried it on the Sony A7SIII as well--same issues. Again, like to know if you're having similar problems with your lens while using the Sony FX3.

is it possible to get it balanced on a gimbal when zooming? I want to get a zoomlens for shooting weddings on a gimbal, but most of the 'budget' options don't have internal zoom. Does it work with this one since it doesn't look too big?

Hey I just got the R2 the second generation of this lens - and it does not respect the setting I input in your camera for AF track sensitivity & AF Drive Speed in video - if i set to slow on my 24-105 it gives me a slow smooth focus pull - on the tamron 28-75 R2 - it does the same sloppy low budget video camera looking focus stutter jumping in video no matter what the setting. Is the first generation 28-75 like this? Thanks! is there a firmware update coming to fix this?

Great review for this lens. I would love to see do the same with the APS-C Tamron lens like the 11-20, 17-70 and 18-300. That would include just about every focal length needed on a mountain excursion. That 28-70 looks like a perfect lens. Just take the 17-28mm zoom for times you need the extra wide angel shots. These two companies, Tamron and Sigma are really pumping out some incredible lens for the not so rich photo hobbyists.

@@dunnadidit : Just want to tell you I enjoy your format when it comes to photography. Tests on pictures a wall are great to weed out bad lens, but getting out in the world and seeing what it can do is far more important to me. When I shot photos back beginning in the 1970, I didn't care about how good the lens were, I wanted to capture images for my job and my adventures in the Air Force for the base newspaper. I was lucky to take my Nikon F2a into North Korea at the DMZ. All my cameras were fantastic, from the screw lens mount Pentax cameras, to the breach mount Canon FTB, and to my love, the F2A. Because I was using Tri-X and Kodachrome 64 most of the time, razor sharp photos wasn't a goal, it was getting the image. Cameras are time machines, never letting the past die. I feel your job is to bring excitement and joy into photography, not try to argue when is better. Is Sony the best, or is it Nikon. How about Canon or Panasonic? Who cares if you can't take a picture worth keeping. Oh, I do have a photo a friend took of me overlooking North Korea in uniform.

I love Tamron zoom lenses. They are great value for money. I own 17-28, 35-150 and 150-500. I just might trade 17-28 with 16-35 GM, so I cover the full range from 16-500. There is no place for this lens in by bag, though. Anyway, your video is great, thanks.

Yeah if you’ve already got the 35-150 this one would only be handy when you don’t wanna carry all that weight. I was the same about the 16-35 but I’m really glad I went for it. It’s so good.

Thanks for this video Dunna and I just subscribed. Anyways I'm looking for a 24-70 range lens for my A7 III, the Sigma Art 24-70 was the first that I was impressed at especially in a review from Jaren Polin and it can even beat the 24-70GM in some aspects. Then I read that Tamron is having a G2 of the 28-75 so I waited and watched the reviews and I'm impressed as well. However over a month ago I saw some videos and reviews of the Samyang 24-70 f2.8 its first AF Zoom lens and it seems good. So now Dunna have you experienced the Samyang 24-70 yet? Or have any of your viewers here have the Samyang yet?

@All Matt Racing I bought 3 sony 24-105 for the new inhouse studio, for the handheld stability, size and weight, plus the little more range with the zoom as I didn't know how far the cameras will be. I already used the same lens quite a while with my previous job and I felt while 2.8 would be amazing, this lens would full fill more gaps for my situation.

Pro tip! Put on your snow shoes when crossing the ice, they increase the surface area of your feet and you're less likely to fall through. Only pitfall is that if you do break through with the snow shoe on the you're gonna have a hell of a time getting your foot back out.
