In this review I wanted to test the difference between Tank RO Units vs Tankless RO Units. I also compare them to tap water and a basic refrigerator filter to see if they are even worth it to begin with.

Hey Davil, great video, one of the only of its kind on KZfaq actually. Any update on the Waterdrop tankless system? Do filters last about as long as advertised? I've read a lot that TDS reading varies a lot in the first 10-20 seconds after the system sits for a while, anything noteworthy that you've seen?

Thanks! I've replaced the filters twice since I made this video. The ro one once, so yea they do last as long as expected and the unit beeps when they need to be replaced. I haven't really noticed any increase in particulates in the water either.

Thanks for the video. The one thing I'm interest the most was the water taste between the APEC and the tankless system. I didn't get to see that. I just installed the APEC ROES-50 system because I was tired of buying, carrying, and recycling. The APEC water system tastes amazing just like bottled water from Costco or Aquafina, not that crappy Arrowhead bottle water.

I have same system. Try adding APEC's alkaline filter. Makes difference in taste and will help to add minerals to your water.
@wapperjaw8282 Жыл бұрын
The difference may be due to types of filters ... etc. My tank Ro System has a mineral filter. My tap water from Detroit is pretty good with around 123 ppm. My RO system brings it to zero, so I added a mineral filter to it now avg. between 13-20 ppm. *So what do the filters filter concerning the Tankless vs what do the filters filter with the Tank???

I would never drink from disposable plastic water bottles. For 1, those things sit in warehouses for ages, toxicity and chemical leaching happens on those plastics. Secondly, plastic water bottles require 17 million barrels of oil and 2.5 million tons of CO2, and that's just for the US. Worldwide multiply that times 50 to 75, it's not good.

Good video. Since the pump turns on when you run the sink, what about hooking it up to a refrigerator ice maker (I’d split the the line going to the faucet.) Would the ice maker have enough demand for the pump or would it cause the pump to run constantly, etc.?
@TheRealDavil2 жыл бұрын
I would imagine anytime there is demand it will turn on so it should work. Ice makers generally just pull water to fill the tray so would run all the time.
@Natedoc808 Жыл бұрын
It will meet the demand of the ice maker so long as the ice maker is asking for water, which will cease once the ice tray is full and trips the shut-off lever.

@guidedbygreen1480 Жыл бұрын
@@hellapellanyc6465 just like your dishwasher discharge, your RO waste/drain line needs to be on a high loop. High loop is when you have the tubing looping above your sink, tacked up at the highest point in your undersink cabinet. by doing this, you are ensuring that you have no black flow coming from your drain and all of your waste is going where it needs to be. before high loops were allowed, an air gap was required. in this circumstance, a high loop is fine.

I gave my son and niece ro water with their formula pretty much always, no issues. I drink it exclusively and have no issues. I don't really cook with it often but that shouldn't make any difference either. There are studies advocating for and against purified water so I would say it's probably fine. For ph, most home stores have water test kits or you can buy a bottle of pool tests strips that test ph as well.
@sandragarcia34543 жыл бұрын
@@TheRealDavil Thanks for your input, I was worried, I also read, I could install something to remineralize the water, did you do this with your system?
@Hertz2laugh2 жыл бұрын
@@sandragarcia3454 R.O. basically strips everything out of water, including minerals. Water salesmen use this to freak people out and scare them into buying remineralizers (I know this because I used to work in the water filtration industry). The reality is that humans get all the nutrients they need from *_solid food._* There's no way your health is going to be negatively impacted by not getting the minerals from water. Instead of spending on a remineralizer, just buy quality meat and veg.
@guidedbygreen1480 Жыл бұрын
If you have a water softener, then you likely have hard water. Hard water is water rich minerals such as calcium and magnesium. A water softener reduces these minerals and replaces them with high levels of sodium. Which is why the water feels slimy. Now an RO SYSTEM removes all disolved solids, including your added from softener sodium now. I believe the added sodium is no good for a baby or anyone to drink, and thus an RO system is beneficial. Water is at a PH of 7 (not 8), and RO water is slightly acidic because of it's void of minerals. So I advise that you add US calcium carbonate remineralization filter as the final filter on your system.
