Smart 5 puts out a extra couple hundred watts. Bass version has more sub oriented settings. I'd stick w the bass version. Plus it's half ohm stable if that matters.

Yeah that 180a alt just isn't doing it. I bought a 320a alt from auto tech. Will be here Tuesday.

Did yours keep going in to protect mode when you turn up the bass

You'll have slightly more power probably. And the dual inputs are nice. But these smart amps still putting out 5k at .5 to 2 ohms is just unbeatable. And it's pretty small comparatively speaking. But if I were you, I'd wait till the smart 8k comes out. I'm gonna snatch it up too. I've had all the smart amps thus far.

@@1ohmwrecker yea and I’m glad you said that because initially that was my plan wait on the smart 8. I clamp a little over 7k on mine I have the 2 ohm version wired to 1 ohm

Nah, you deff can. Ferrules just keep it neater and reusable. Like on my smart 3k in my other vehicle tho, the input isn't big enough for 2/0 welding wire and a ferrule so I just had to give bare copper 🤷‍♂️

I love it. But Taramps indicated to me the other day that the Smart 8k is coming out with triple inputs! So I'm buying it soon as it comes out. Or maybe the JP83, but I hate the color. But smart 3 and smart 5 are both solid. I've had smart 3 for over 2 yrs, and the smart 5 about 6 or 8 months. So they are deff reliable!

I got a 300 amp alternator with a xs power agm running the car and a 64ah headway lithium bank running the system.

@@vs300c3 like 14.2v but my car ran factory at 14.0v so still better than stock voltage🤷‍♂️ if I'm revving at 1800rpm, it only drops to like 14.6v I got a more recent video kinda showing it.

Still only gonna see like 5k from it unless you wire it into the dirt🤷‍♂️

@@miguelangelaviles4886 yes, exactly! I was either gonna get a bass 8k or smart bass 5k. I was told by the guy that does amp dynos 'face kicker' to get the 5k cuz the bass 5k is .5 ohm stable, so even if you rise into the 2 ohm area, you'll be right in that sweet spot for the 5k+. I just got the bass version to have the bass crossovers. I had the original smart 3 previously and thats one thing that sucked about it. The smart bass 5k digs into the lows real real nice.

I mean, I could have... but its hard to justify the price. And hard to compete w 5k from .5 ohm to 2 ohm 🤷‍♂️ but If you're on a budget, I'd stick to the taramps. But I'm considering the jp83, or DB 8k right now lol. I got a new box coming in so after that. But taramps is coming out w a smart 8k soon here too.

@@superior3384 well I've had the smart 3 for 2 years. It's still in one of my other cars. Never had a issue or went into protect even once. My smart 5 I've had for 8 months or so now, pushing at full power. Never had a issue. Never been in protect even once. They rate taramps at 12.8v so they are used to taking a beating. Just don't get the MD series.

@@superior3384 regardless you'll get a 1 yr warranty. Which I upgrade atleast once a year anyhow, but they're really good on warranties too. But like I said, I've never had a issue to warranty 🤷‍♂️

Never had a problem with it🤷‍♂️ had the smart 3 before this and never had a problem w that either. Its still in one of my other vehicles.

@Mid Thumb the rf sounds a little better if i recall but I can't really tell myself lol...bad thing about the rf is it gets hot super quick so going to need a good external fan unlike the taramps where it's always cooler...

@@josephwilson6863 I see alot of ppl have issues w the SFB amps. They're known for failing hence the reason they're not in production anymore.

Great man. Some ppl knock Taramps, but out of all the amps I've ever had in my life, any taramps I've ever used never went into protect even once. Never even gets hot. Even a lil bit. So I can't say nuttin bad.
