If you're like me JRPGs take up a lot of your time and it can often feel like you're not beating as many games as you would like or getting as many experiences as you desire in gaming each year. Short games really shine when it comes to solving a problem like this, and here are some recommendations from myself and 5 other youtubers!
Special Thanks to all the folks who helped by lending their voices and expertise to this video.

My usual gaming routine is to play one long game followed by a short game or two. I don't like going from one long game right into the next. Having something you can beat in a day or two is a nice way to break things up.

Special thanks to everybody who joined. You can find their channels in the description or hell, right here too! But a special, special thanks is owed to Happy Console Gamer for not freaking out when I showed him that I animated him as essentially a person, an alien, a worm with a head and a blob (A blob is what having a hangover feels like to me so it seemed suiting) I had a lot of fun getting weird with that one and he seemed to enjoy it! In my case, first Uncharted. A good friend of mine ask me to stay at his place for a weekend to take care of his dog while he was away and told me to play his PS3 all the time I wanted. So I did. I sat down at 7 pm, and finished the game by 6am, just stopping to have something to eat and to walk the dog out a few times. It wasn't my first time playing, but it was the my first time beating it. I inmidiately started Uncharted 2, and I almost beat it that weekend (just a couple of hours left to the end). This same friend also invited me and another one to his place the day he bought the PS3 and we beat God of War 3 that same day taking turns. Awesome experience!

Just Beat the main 4 UC games last year! Remasters. I actually enjoyed them all quite a bit but yeah, only the first one is that short haha. This story also reminds me of the time I invited a buddy over to the house way back, and we sat down and beat GUN on the gamecube in 1 day. Pretty well 100% too as far as we could tell. Man, special memories doing that.

@@TarksGauntlet I know, right! All those experiences are very special to me. I'll always remember them. The UC saga is amazing, I also beat them all, even the Vita one (except The Lost Legacy, which I need to find the time to do). Some of them a few times, it's the perfect well roundup experience. And they came in the perfect moment, when I was missing the good olde " classicTomb Rider vibes". The first is the worst to many people, but for me it's kind of, very special haha. I like to come back to them from time to time. Now with the movie out, feels like that time it's coming :)

I recently played and finished the first 2 Monkey Island games and both were short enough to beat in 1 sitting each (about 4-5 hours). Got the remaining Monkey Island games ready to play them in 1 sitting each too. I also remember a few years ago buying and playing Ikachan on my 3DS. The creator of Cave Story made a very short game years prior then got released on the 3DS eShop without much fanfare. Around 5$CND and an hour later, I was already done with the game. Yeah, having short games to play, especially when you don't have spare time, is always a welcome change from your typical 50+ hour RPGs or 30+ hour Action-Adventure games.

This video is right up my alley. The older I get, the more I hate long games. I just don't have 15+ hours to waste on 1 game. The last few years, I've grown really found of shorter 5-10 hour games. I would recommend Little Nightmares 1 and 2. The odd characters, the story, the absolute beautiful macabre art style. Soooo good!

Sweet video. These are great titles. Can I also recommend Severed (I have played it on Vita and Switch) a first person dungeon crawler with touchscreen combat that works really well and is almost puzzle-like. Looks gorgeous and has lots of secrets to find, you can 100% it in 6-8 hours.

I started getting into games that I can finish in one sitting around 2019. Reason for that is the frustration over rpgs I've been dealing with on how little I can progress in 5 hours. Thanks to shmups and games that thrived in arcade era, I discovered the hidden world of indies. And thanks to my frustration to long games, I discovered my number 1 game of all time. Anyways, I gotta try this Astebreed one day. Its the closest game to my number 1 game series of all time, the "Suguri" series...... Also play Suguri and Sora!

I found you through a review of Catherine. Since then I actually got a pretty bad brain injury. I can't game or do anything for more than about half an hour. This has made it so that RPGs, or many other skill based long games are just too much now for me. The last long game I played was fatal frame 2. I love this game but hated it by the time I was at the end because it took me about 10 hours which translates to 2 months or so now for me and this injury. Games I can enjoy today are sub 5 hour games and they still take me about 10-15 sittings easily.

One sitting can definitely be an asset. I think back to 2007 for instance and I really thing that the length of Portal and COD4 enhanced their appeal because they could be beat in one sitting. I wish more RPGs were like that. Suikoden I guess could be done in two sessions which is cool

Love AsteBreed. I’m terrible at these arcade bullet hellish shooter games. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the game though. Still haven’t gotten all the in-game achievements so there’s definitely replay value that will bring me back to the game from time to time. Also love the OST, and while the story isn’t special…I did enjoy it, would like to see EdleWeiss make like a sequel for Asteebreed. Oh, and With the recent news of WiiU/3DS Eshop’s eventual end. Decided to FINALLY pick up “Liberation Maiden” for the 3DS. Man, gotta say…Wish GrassHopper manufacture would develop more arcade-y Shooter’s. Would also love to see an ACTUAL sequel to the game with the same gameplay style instead of a visual novel sequel. (Strange that Mages never localized Liberation Maiden -Sin-…shame that game is stuck on the PSVITA as far as I know..) Which reminds me…. The golden era of Level -5…🙏🏻😞 since they published Liberation maiden for 3DS…they’ve really lost their way man…the lack of western releases of any of their recent games have been quite sad lately. Really hope “Megaton musashi” would get a localization at some point.

I've actually played Donut County. Yakuza Kiwami 2 was releasing in about 2 weeks at the time and I didn't wanna start playing a long game when it was close to one I was very looking forward to. So I went looking into the games in my library and seeing which were short and it ended up being TOO short even for my given mood. I beat it in 2 hours and had to find something else to play immediately after with plenty of time left in the day. I went and looked up how much it costs and I think it was like $15 or something along those lines. So I wouldn't really recommend it unless you can get it in a bundle or its an affordable price.
@TarksGauntlet
@TarksGauntlet 2 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure it goes on sale often and very cheap. But games are expensive to make, even the short ones, so pricing will often be a bit to grapple with. Astebreed was 2 hours and I think I paid almost 40 for my physical copy. Digital should be cheap now though, after so many years.

@@TarksGauntlet yeah but I felt it was pricy even when comparing it to games like To The Moon, A Bird Story, Finding Paradise, Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons, etc. Luckily I do think I got it in a bundle at some point so I didn't feel jipped. To The Moon is $11 for 4 hours of content. A Bird Story is $4.50 for 1 hour. Finding Paradise is $11 for 5 hours. Donut County is $14.50 for 2 hours of content. (I'm using times on how long they took me to beat the game)
@TarksGauntlet
@TarksGauntlet 2 жыл бұрын
@@dynastystar5515 To the Moon was also RPG maker. Stylized 3d is a bit more work. I don't know if we're working with CND or USD but Before Your Eyes which I included here is about the same price as Donut County. Still, recommending the game and recommending the game at full price are different things I guess. Tbh I didn't even consider prices with my parts. It's hard enough to get people to agree on how valuable their time is, making them agree on the value of a dollar is a whole other story haha.
