The guy who has infinite supply of ammo and destroys worlds bare-chested is back again! And this time he has a shirt and a friend with him.
This very colorful movie by Mr_K ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/Mr_K ) and EZGames69 ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/E... ) plays through the game with both characters at the same time (which is far from trivial to do), and 26.28 seconds faster than the previous run ( tasvideos.org/787M ), thanks to better optimisation.

I still remember how amazed we were back in the day when the 16-bit consoles launched. The graphics of those massive arcade machines in your living room but without the constant "insert coin" prompts. The last time I was really amazed by video game graphics was in Half-Life 2, now everything just looks the same though.

That's because the Source Engine is either on par, or vastly superior to most game engines in the more than a decade since. Look at Cyberpunk. What a fucking technical joke compared to HL2.

There are tons of games with unique visuals, for example: Monster Train, Noita, Synthetik: Ultimate, and ULTRA KILL. They're fun, too

Everything only looks the same if you’re just focusing on the big titles trying to be super realistic. That’s the point of them, after all. If they’re all trying to look like real life, they’re all aiming for the same end goal and the same graphics. Look towards smaller titles or stuff that’s not just focusing on realism.

Even after playing modern games and other retro games I have never found something that amaze me more than Contra 3 and Hard Corps. Truly greatest games.

The amount of fun had during downtime is amazing! Jumping to a monster's stomps, fusing, and outright having a silly western style duel. This is now my favorite TAS

For aspiring players out there: The Spread Gun isn't the best in this game. That goes to the Concussive missiles. The DPS of them when wildly switching is incredible and can melt bosses.

10:48 I guess they didn't code the music transitions with this sort of scenario in mind... It looks like (or sounds like?) going through the boss gauntlet this fast made the game so confused that it started the last boss theme before the transition into the gargoyle's theme finished, so some way or another it's trying to play both songs at once.

Yep, that boss being defeated is supposed to set the flag to transition to the next track after one more music loop, but it ends up playing both at the same time

From the submission text: “Scroll Glitch: After you die the game looks for a valid location to respawn you. The spinning poles in this stage are not considered valid locations and the platforms on screen are too far to the edges of the screen to be valid so P1 respawns in a junk location which causes the level position of the players to go backwards. Pressing left as P1 deactivates the glitch and allows the screen to start scrolling forward. Increasing the level position past a certain point activates an event and the next eligible event is the skeleton spawn - or at least that's what I think is happening”
