I was unsure about my Ielts readiness 2 weeks to my exam(I hadn't being able to give time to study, I had just barely concluded reading a book about IELTS writing a friend sent me then). Initially, I had planned on practicing everyday for the rest of the week before my exam but that was when I stumbled on your video and I went ahead to consume them totally😂, afterwhich I practiced just 1 reading passage, 4 listening tapes, 1 writing module and 3 speaking practice with my friend. Hi Chris, I watched some of your videos for tips to try some online ielts sample test. Thanks to your tips, I was able to finish the reading section pretty early for my 1st time. I only got 6.5 for reading though, but when I checked the answers, some of my mistakes are quite unjust. For example: _ Some mistakes are from not copying exactly what was written in the essays, like my answer was "friends and families" while the correct answer is "families and friends". _ Another one is from an anatomy diagram for a fish. The part that need filling in is pointing to the fish's pectoral fin, so I answered "pectoral". But the accepted answer was "pectoral and pelvic" since this is exactly what was written in the essays. I even looked this up afterwards and the pelvic fins are indeed at a different position from the pectoral fins (it's quite obvious from their names). This seems to be a problem for computer based tests since the answers are checked automatically. So I want to ask since I have no experience with ielts, does this problem occurs in the actual ielt tests, specifically the computer based test? Since I decided to take the test on computer for the headphones advantage in the listening session.

Another great video here, Chris. My students have had a lot of success with some of the methods you mention for all skills. If you're taking video ideas, I'd love to see a comparison between paraphrasing techniques. The discrepancy between 'Uses paraphrasing effectively as required' (Band 8) & 'Uses paraphrasing effectively' (Band 7) is one of the parts I struggle to teach as an IELTS tutor myself. Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

The presented diagram illustrates the recycling process of plastic bottles. This process involves nine stages, starting with throwing away garbage into trash bins and ending with manufacturing goods from recycled raw materials. Subsequently, sorted bottles are shaped into cubes with the help of a special machine, and in the following stage, these blocks are squashed into many small chunks at the same time soaking in a bath filled with liquid due to cleaning. Next, a specialized apparatus manufactures plastic pellets, which are heated under a high temperature to get raw material in the eighth stage. Finally, manufacturers utilize almost-ready material as a source in the production of various commodities such as food containers, clothes, and pens. Hi Chris. Great vid as always, very informative. My first question- for writing an overall paragraph for a process diagram I’ve been given a tip to break a process into stages (let’s say, 2 or 3 general stages) and outline what they are, e.g plastic bottles are recycled and sorted, then are processed using various machinery, and then are turned into raw material for new plastic products (or something along the lines) - so we’re essentially breaking the process into stages, and omit simply listing all steps, which would frankly be a shitty overview :) what do you think about that approach to understanding the diagram effectively? Second question - as information needs to be logically organised, isn’t it essential to show that logic to the examiner?Or are they going to understand the underlying logic of unchanged shape of the bottles being in the first para, and then fiddling with it being in the second? Seems unlikely, so should we or not? Cheers and thanks much for the videos

I've got a question regarding describing units in a diagram e.g. a line graph that shows energy consumption in quadrillion units. Do I need to write out quadrillion units every time I put in the number or can I abbreviate it e.g the first time I write: "... 50 quadrillion units (50qu)" Can I then use that abbreviation in the remaining text or is that not allowed? In the advantage/disadvantage essay type in writing task 2 , should we state one advantage or disadvantage in introduction based on which we are going to be agree with or stating your opinion about the extent of the one( like : advantages are greater than disadvantages....) would be enough? coz u taught that your position should be clear from the beginning(opinion essay)
