I just lost my grandpa yesterday. This song hits so hard. I rented his house from him for 5 years. Unfortunately 3 years ago he had to sell, and I couldn't afford to buy it. When the farm was sold it was like half of my heart was repeat apart. So many of my childhood memories are built there.I could write many stories. Some funny ones with my cousins running around with the puppies, driving our grandparents crazy. My grandpa called me a week before he died to tell me how much he loved me. Pop is a little bit of an under-statement. Now it's a lot of Hip Hop on Country radio, and it's gotten to the point that I prefer listening to the Oldies station over the Country one. There was a time when I enjoyed new Country, but those days are all gone as of 2016. It also doesn't help that my local Country station has to play the same new shit three times every day during the eight hours I'm working. And I hate how women are basically objects in really any new music. And a lot of newer songs don't touch on reality. Any time I'm forced to listen to XM's The Highway on a car ride with my family and a song comes on about how the main guy won a girl over and she dressed down for him, it's all I can do not to punch a hole directly through my dad's radio. Because that's not how a lot of peoples' lives are today! I like older Country better because it describes reality. But this song is a remnant of good Country left over from the old days.

My gmpa died when I was young. My fav line is the song title. I love the line about vets coming home, as a lifetime member of the VFW, all my relatives came home. Some didn't make the transition after Viet Nam, but they all physically came home.

Wish I could learn to drive again. My dad passed away a couple of years ago and one of my best memories was driving that little black truck around with him teaching me how to drive or even before that and him letting me drive around the farm or the neighborhood when I was like 13 or 14. Gets me missing that old man when I hear that line

My grandpa passed when I was two. only can remember one thing from then my mother passed just about 3 years ago and life never gets easier mentally honestly I think it gets alot harder a person just learns to live with it. This song gets me every time. ☹️☹️ Something as simple as a song makes a person cope with heartache but it always hurts when you truly miss someone you will never get to see again.

My grandpa passed this morning, about 8 hours ago. I was lucky to have him as long as I did, and damn it I'm going to miss him. I don't even know how to process this. I have no grandparents left.

Damn man!!! My grandfather just passed. I wouldn't imagine how my mom and uncle are feeling because I wasn't close to him. But, I just think about all that. R.I.P Grandpa Dean.😥

My Grandpa "Dadda" was the best person I have ever known and although it has been years and years since he went home to be with the Lord but I miss him always. He was a kind man who loved children and they loved him and would follow him everywhere he went and he was very funny too!

The one that hit me most heartfelt is I wish grandpas never die, as my father who was one of the best dads a girl could ever have has gotten dementia. And my poor kids and nieces and nephews and friends kids miss the old him and are broken hearted. I tell them he is still in there somewhere, just love him, and sit with him and hold his hand and remember what he was and the fun and love and it will all come back to you. I am lucky as the daughter who takes care of him he still remembers me well and my wonderful husband who still takes him to his favorite places. But what a wonderful man that filled our lives with such fun and support and love and his Whitt that usually came out in teasing everyone. Thank you lord for everyday we still get with him❤️🙏😇😘

Who the hell would've hit the dislike button on this song?! There's alot of hateful, unhappy people out there and I feel sorry for them! If you're really that unhappy and full of hate, ill tell ya that you'll only find peace by turning your life over to God. I'm not preaching but without faith, you're gonna have a bitter, sad life! I'm speaking from experience but I finally gave my life to Christ and I have peace now. You can too..

I didn't know my grandfather all that well so when he passed I was just sad for my dad and his loss but now I have 2 boys and my dad is the greatest grandpa a kid could ask for it kills me inside that one day my boys will have to go on with out him 😢

I can relate to this song by Riley Green . My grandpa died on my dad's said of the family. He died about 2013 or 2014 😞😢😞😢

I can relate to this song too. My grandpa on my mom's side died in 2005 just before my seventh birthday, and the one on my dad's side just a year later on Christmas. If my grandpa on my dad's side was still alive, I might've learned more about how to work on heavy equipment and semi trucks. We were always out on a tractor or four wheeler or in his truck every time we went out to visit them.

My ex boyfriend died 1 year 6 months ago now & when i found out he killed himself .I took it realy hard & i still do . I 😢 on & off 2 weeks before i know when he died .I will be grafing for along time now & im also moving on forward .😟😟😟😢😢😥 this ready heard on me
