Tata motors all cars are good quality steel. I used nano for 8 years which was a best in clause for local driving. Basic problem especially in tamilnadu second hand car dealers dont encourage tata cars previously. They prefer maruti and hyundai. So that the buyers was fearful to buy tata cars not to get a resale value. But now scenario has totally changed because of nexon altroz.

If Tata improves its engine and service, it can easily overthrow Maruthi

Their biggest weakness is their Quality Control and the reliability issues that arises out of poor Quality control. For every good unit Tata car, there's another car which breaks down in 2 weeks, electronic equipments malfunctioning etc., This is something which does not exist in other brands. Tata fans will say every brand has this but you don't see daily cases of piss poor quality control that gives owners' headache. Personal experience: A friend of mine suggested Tiago to me in 2016 because he had a good experience with it. I bought it as my first personal car. Issues startedon Day 1. Forget it's crude unrefined engine, notchy gearshift and general engineering bummers. The car was a owner's disaster. Every single month I used to take it to the service center. Sometimes the service engineers had no clue. But even when they were able to fix it, it would throw another problem. After 3 years of perennial problems, I sold it off. Another friend of mine who got the same car also had a bad experience but not as much as mine. P.S : Now I drive a Honda City. My wife drives a i10 Nios. The cars never gives me any trouble and ownership headache and it has been the case with 99% of Honda Citys. Can't say the same about Tata. This is their biggest drawback and the main reason why some people are not willing to put their hard earned money into buying a Tata car.

Tata may need to learn reliability from Honda, fit/finish from Skoda/VW, Design from Fiat, network from Maruti/Hyundai if they want to be a large player. Else they need to decide to operate in particular sector like KIA, which is also a good strategy. Ultimately auto companies get market share through smaller cars and margins from premium offerings/SUV. Difficult to do both

The service problem due to money minded dealers mostly. They are trying to make money from customers instead of fixing the actual problem with less cost which will make customers happy. For example, they do suggest to change the whole part instead of the repair it which will cost more to customer and more profit to dealers. So Tata motors has to involve directly into this problem to make it better. And this is not only problem with Tata motors dealers as other dealers also have same attitude. Good SWOT analysis about Tata Cars... Improvements of factors described under Weakness + Threads needs to be converted to Strength + Opportunity. Car having 1) Body 2) Engine 3) Wheels 4) Various controls (Instruments and controllers) 5) Comfort, Infotainment, Luxurious 1) Body - mostly based world steel production and manufacturing ability. Hopes, when we choose higher safety, the amount of money spend for its body is higher than low safety level vehicle. # When we consider safety factor, it needs to be withstand some amount of force. Accordingly, the weight of vehicle will increase, it causes increased pulling capacity of car, will result in more energy to move vehichle than the lower safety level vehicle. So, fuel efficiency may decrease due added weight of the vehicle. But, this is not only factor. 2) Engine - If you check thermodynamic cycles and efficiency of IC engine system. First, how the complete combustion of fuel happens, second how the energy from IC egine to wheels is transmitted. There are many kind of energy losses happens. To improve fuel efficiency, we need to reduce those losses, ideally 100% is not possible. What technology is adopted in Tata cars engine, I don't have any idea. I don't know better knowledge about engine (IC) Pioneer in this field. Tata have R&D, but I don't have idea whether they have R&D for engine manufacturing. Never compare any manufacturer fuel efficiency, first check the vehicle pulling capacity is same, then we can compare and notice where is the difference, whether, less efficiency is due to incomplete combustion, or more losses in transmission of energy from IC to wheel's rotating motion. Definitely, Tata may have better idea, and will work out to improve economic fuel efficiency of their cars. The western world is moving towards Hydrogen as fuel. Yes, the recent Delhi PM level and consequences shows a better lession to move towards Hydrogen (Green Hydrogen - Production of H2 from water using electricity produced from renewable resources) fuel vehicle. I don't have idea, whether Tata have any plan. Agree that, EV is good option, but again Carbon emissions will be there, if non renewable resources is used for that electricity production. Because, there lot studies going on to improve electricity production from Renewable energy resources. For EV vehihles, charging stations, people's purchasing ability in India needs lot of improvement. Tata needs to look better efficient long life, affordable engine (Better solution is manufacturing own engine with indigenous R&D efforts). 3) Wheels - Another energy loss is due to the friction between wheels and surface. Friction is must for wheel movement, I am talking about best design to mitigate unwanted frictions. Any one suggest about cost contribution due wheels. 4) Various Control - It's depends on required number of measurements so, accordingly price will vary. And recent time demand in chip manufacturing is also thread to this. While comparing any vehicle kindly do one to one perfect matching models, otherwise, it will end in bad and wrong comparison. When, expecting more safety future, it require lot of measurements and it's controllers. It's direct addition of Cost to the vehicle will be vital role in choosing better safety level. 5) Comfort, Infotainment, Luxurious Comfort level having lot of factors, from entering the vehichle, sitting, holding hands, head room, leg rooms, head rest, exit from vehicle, and more. This is purchaser choice. One to one vehicle comparison is not possible. Infotainment, Luxurious- All knows well.... Fuel efficiency or Milage - Never compare any vehicle which doesn't have one to one matches with another. Hihger milage with Better level of safety, long life is important. Sales - It's depends on dealers and purchasers. Service - Tata need to improve. I would like to know onething how many users prefer dealers service or they prefer other party service as good as manufacturer, appart from waranty and others. Any one share various vehicles service cost for atleast five years. Spare - This play vital role in middle class family members having cars. Two factors involes, Spare price and it's reliability. Every one knows that appart from engine and chips, and some major parts, most of the spares are manufactured in India by many small scale industries. While roaming through any vehicle assembling plant, we can notice this. This kind of spares price mostly depends on material and man cost, we know China and India have cheaper man power than rest in the world. Mahindra have their engine manufacturing plants here. But, I don't have idea about rest My knowledge is very very tiny so, please excuse for mistakes. mw efforts is great, SWOT analysis is not easy. Ad said by Asir, his accumulated knowledge over the periods has given useful informative video. Every industry do this SWOT or market analysis with their experts team. But, when their aim is only sale the vehicles, or it involves purchasers safety and affordability, will vary. As said by Asir, Tata takes the factors of purchasers and improves by incorporating those in their manufacturing is very good path forward. Excellent insights. Safety is indeed a selling factor. But when others who have dct, wireless charging, ventilated seats etc picks on safety as well then Tata will have no answers unless prepared for storm. Yes as you told, many are threatening me that engines are not reliable , what you will do with safety when the heart of car(engine) itself is unreliable.

@Motowagon I have recently start watching your videos and i have watched almost all videos, basically i love driving bikes, but from your review i got many things. Each and every bit of detailing, to understand this i need to surf internet/search my old Engineering books 😆, but great work. And i have one suggestion.. As now manual transmission are at legacy level, all cars with manual transmission gonna perform with the power given to it. If you can focus on Automatic transmission on all type of cars will be best and useful, due in near future people running regardless on time and traffic automatic cars will play better role on roads and safety... BR, Motowagan family member (as u say always 🙂)

As you said, the moto of these videos is not to defame any manufacturers and I am sure it will be a video series for everyone including customers, dealers and manufactures. Usually, in your review video, the last slide have positive, negative and total marks which acts as a summary and give better insights into data. So, it would be very much useful, if you could add some charts or grading sheet for strength, weekness, opportunities and threats. Since, u r having more technical things in these swot analysis, the summary will be really beneficial. Please include a summary sheet if possible.

Very informative, neutral and authentic video that gives an unbiased view. Educative too. Tata needs to work on customer loyalty. Honda city has been a stellar example. My question to you is on the three pot mill. How do you think Volkswagen is able to manage a highly refined 3 pot motor? While I agree that a 4 cylinder engine ensures that one cylinder is always in power mode, a 3 cylinder motor benefits from lesser parts , space and weight.
