The MG ZS EV is right in the sweet spot if you are looking for an electric SUV for the family. It's got 461 km of range, is spacious, feature-packed and drops below Rs 30 lakh.
But what if you don't want to stretch your budget this far? The Tata Nexon EV Max makes a good case for itself with its 437 km range. Yes, it's smaller but also a good few lakhs less and is not far behind with the gadgetry. So which is the better buy?
The MG ZS EV gets a larger battery pack with this update, growing from 44.5 kWh to 50.3 kWh. The one in the Tata Nexon EV Max is notably smaller at 40.5 kWh but quite a bit larger than the 30.2 kWh of the standard Nexon EV. Having said that, there’s less of a gap in the two SUVs ranges. Great video overall. But here i like MG ZS EV more than Nexon ev. ZS EV has so many useful features even I heard the genuine owners' feedback also of zs ev. They also like their car because of the great battery, and 3 regen modes. Safety features.

So this was a 28 minute long review/comparison and did not bother to speak of BACK SEAT SPACE, THREE PASSANGERS AT THE BACK SEAT/FLOOR BOARD/BOOT SPACE etc..at all. Great job Overdrive!

Weird he mentioned that the Nexon Gom is more accurate. It totally depends on how to drive and will keep on changing all the time. Further , he fails to mention that on the zs you can see the % you can arrive at on your destination. Missed the charging speed, rear seat comfort due to the raised flooring on the Nexon Max/ZS along with the boot space.

I enjoyed watching the old generation Overdrive editor driving these totally paradigm shifting modern cars. I just kept on thinking of an old Padmini. A great original take on a comparaison.

In the EV segment, the ZS EV is a good choice. You have compared the top two electric vehicles, including the ZS EV.

Thanks for this review, the Autocar's comparison was extremely biased and the range test made no sense! I found the ranges to be closer to what you guys have found than what autocar was claiming anyway. Looking forward to your review of the BYD atto 3 !

Good unbiased review in my opinion, even though some important area's were not addressed to. But i am highly surprised that you have rated ZS EV and Nexon EV same in safety whereas ZS Ev has six airbags to Nexon EV's two to start with plus a plethora of other safety features !?

Commentary volume is so low across all your videos. Watched new Autocar video and this back to back and there’s a stark difference in the narrator’s volume.

In your previous video 7 months back, you said much lesser range for nexon EV max. either you're lying now or then. I find your comparison biased with more loving towards nexon, don't know the reason why. Still waiting for a true comparison...

Have you forgotten the Hyundai Kona or have just blatantly ignored the fact that it exists 🤔 Kona infact happens to be the most superior EV in comparison to both of these.

Hyundai has forgotten India exists and are selling their 5 year old car while updated models exist everywhere else. No one wants to buy a Kona anymore, and its superior to neither of these. Nexon EV Max offers better value and the MG feels more premium, Kona is just confused. with worse off range than both.

A 5-year-old car is still no excuse to skip it completely. It still exists and sits in between the Nexon & the MG. Drive all 3 of them and you would know. In fact for that matter, it's surprising that a 5-year-old car still had/ has a lot of features these new cars don't. Not to forget BMS & range are the most critical bits in an EV. And yet again it has the best of both worlds among the 3. Another critical aspect is the most amount of reliability among the 3. Most of the Nexon & MG still get their BMS fried at a select few chargers & the owners are left stranded waiting for a tow truck. It is due for a facelift for sure with its current set of headlights & the bumper to be upgraded. I am all in for a bigger MG & a made-in-India EV. But the fact still remains that neither of them can match what Kona offers in terms of technicality & technology. Not a Hyundai fan boy, but they have nailed their EV's.

@@ullasraj It exists but aside from 6 airbags, it offers next to nothing over the Nexon? why would people even consider it? The car has the lowest range of the 3, and has battery recall issues. Im not sure where you're getting the information wrt its BMS reliability. Lastly, the car is bascially a token gesture by hyundai. there's no reason to take it seriously until they take the market seriously and actually offer cars they care about. I wouldnt trust them for spares or reliability either until they show that they actually care about the customers who buy the EVs. I test drove the Nexon EV max and the MG ZS EV. I asked for a test drive of the Kona and the dealer literally told me to check out the BYD E6 instead, Dropped the idea of the Kona almost immediately. While i would've liked the Hyundai Kona to be included in a comparison, the neglect its facing from everyone is coz of hyundai's attitude towards the market. This is imporatnt when buying a car, which is going to last for 5-10 years.

@Vaishak Achar I have my information from all the right sources as I own all 3 of them in the family :) Nexon & MG are both 2021 models & the Kona is August 2022. I would suggest don't go by the stupid sales guys at the dealerships. I always ignore them too. Just like you, I always ignored the Kona too until one fine day I called it for a TD as I saw an ad offering 50k discount on the Kona. I was blown away with its drive, power and efficiency. Kona has the highest torque as well as Km/Kwhr figures. It gives me an easy 8.5-10km. While the nexon & MG 2021 struggle to even reach 7km. 1 pedal drive is non existent in both the other cars as well as paddle shifters for regeneration. Regen level in Kona are the highest & most effective in comparison to all the 3. I have done thousands of Kms in highway runs on all 3 cars and the results are completely different from what the journalist show on their channels. Have done 24000kms in the Nexon, 18000kms in the MG & around 7000 in the Kona. Also am a part of all the 3 cars EV communities from Hyderabad & India so I go thru the ownership issues of the owners of all the cars. Battery recall was an old issue and was global. These things happen with many cars. What matters is your everyday issues since its a new tech. All the 3 companies in India are pretty much dumb when it comes to service and have zero knowledge. @@ullasraj i have read that the kona is extremely efficient, but tbh I'm just not comfortable with Hyundai's current EV strategy... So for now it's a hard pass from me. Id definitely consider the next Kona EV if they do launch it though (depending on how seriously they take the market again)

I don't think it's worth paying 7lakhs more for ZS EV. Nexon is the value for money EV. OD presenter needs to have couple of cups of coffee. Felt like sleeping after watching this.

I got nex ev max z + lux variant for 19.15 L where top end of zs ev is nearly 28.5 L nearly 9 L DIFFERENCE between the both cars

That is based on test. mG is more efficient in highway and Nexon in city. If highway driving is more then zs ev is more efficient.

@@shas312 watch Bjorn nyland range test of mg zs ev . At 90 kmph Mg zs ev will give 320-350 km of range while Nexon EV has more range drop at higher speed. Nexon is efficient till 80 kmph only . I am Nexon EV onwer and i love Nexon EV. But credit should be given where it is due.

No reason to buy either of these guys. Both are severely overpriced, and significant so over their non ev versions. The savings are not substantial enough to recover the additional cost, and you are locked into battery technology that will be archiac almost obsolete in 5-6 years before you recover the premium on the cars

Nexon isn't overpriced at all. It's a good value for money car and certainly no issue with battery going on obsolete within the next 2 decades. Your POV isn't the best considering you aren't using an EV currently. Statistics show that those who buy one EV, have ended up going for a second one , which says a lot about confidence in the tech

The premium for Nexon ev max is the silent drive, instant torque, no gears, auto hold in start stop traffic, no vibration. No ice Nexon at any price offer this and neither can Mg Astor. Add to that no maintenance n negligible running costs. Cherry on cake - zero emissions. EVs are not for everybody n that's ok, but it makes so much sense for urban commutes.

Don't put a blanket statement unless you talk about daily drive . If someone has more than 50-60 km per day . Within 4-5 years, cost will be recovered.

It's simple comparison. .. MG is car brand owned by Chinese government, on other hand Tata Motors is well known indigenous brand .. customers suposed to think twice before passing his/her hard earned money to buy a car between those two.. . Don't pay our foe...

Waah bhai kya dimag lagaya hai aapne Tata ka 80% parts china se hi ata hai bhaishaab koi bhi car bina chinese parts ke nahi banega to kya sab ko chor ke cycle chaloge kya or MG ki cars India me ban raha hai government tax le rahi hai tagda or yaha ke logo jobs mil rahi hai isme aap kya bologe, simple sa comparison hai bhai jo jisko aacha lage vo lega aap jaiso ki baat koi nahi sunega.

@@tuhinguha8758 how about not wasting time comparing 2 incomparable cars ? ZS EV is far more spacious and luxurious than the Nexon. Has more EV relevant features . The comparison video only makes sense if there is a genuine requirement to distinguish between 2 similar cars such as the creta vs seltos.

There is only one comparison: Buy MG, share of your hard earned money will go to owner of co that is Chinese government which in turn will invest into Chinese defence forces and may eventually used against your own countrymen in form of bullet. .. Buy Tata Nexon, it's completely mfg by indigenous co, share of your hard earned money will further go into co development to create more employment which eventually give push to national progress which includes you... think twice before buying MG. ..
