The problem is with RTO, if they can provide an office in every state where they can deal with paper work and registration, that's when these conversions would take off in a big way.

Currently as per government norms each & every vehicle to get electrified via retrofitting needs to gain permissions alongwith qualifying the required safety norms (passenger safety) especially. These tests cost manufacturers significantly e.g. 1-2 crore per car like nexon ev , tigor ev, mg zs ev, etc. Considering all these factors, any car not gaining minimum 4 Star GNCAP safety rating wouldn't be qualified, since thermal management research does require cost quite a bit. Something that the retrofitting companies wouldn't be willing to invest.

Very good startup, but have a lot of learning to do. The efficiency of the electric motor decreases from the gearbox. Don't get me wrong, but there's no necessity of a gearbox, with each gear there will be power loss due to transmission loss which in turn decreases efficiency. And also he's telling, they'll be able to customise battery pack according to the range, that i understand but where will you put such a big battery pack in the car that you're converting?!🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ But the idea is amazing. All the best to them. Hope they are up to the task.

One firm from coimbatore named Jayem Auto made electric nano, but it did not go to production, may be tata was not interested, or cost was too high, or due to regulatory hurdles of conversion. It is good to see the chutzpah of the two youngstars this time. As a next level they may try a front wheel drive version of this car, so that a large battery can be accommodated in the engine compartment at the back. Good luck boys

I want to know one thing from you, that like a few years ago, the registration certificate used to be mentioned on the installation of CNG kit, then will it still have to be mentioned on RC for converting to electric ??

EV me ye agr gear box pura remove krde toh gadi ka weight kum hojayega and range increase hojayega ...and ye gadi se off-road toh karega nhi toh huge torque bhi nhi chahiye.....han to compensate passenger load they may have to use a big motor (more torque required) which they are now achieving at low gears ....but every time you will not move 4-5 persons in car so I think it will be good to remove the gear box and use the same motor
