Some really cool kits I've seen lately have been 30 Minute Miniatures (every single on looks cool and you can easily change pieces for different it like a make-your-own-mecha), Metal Robots has put some really incredible looking highly detailed metal kits and last I forgot the company that makes them but the OBSOLETE mechs are some of the coolest new designs I've seen in years (the models are from the KZfaq show OBSOLETE).

A gloss varnish before using these is a good idea, as the glossy surface will break the surface tension of the panel liner, and cause it to flow better, and pull away from the edges if you get it somewhere it shouldn’t be.

Guys, this product is an enamel based paint. Unlike what the guy implies this not some "black ink". I don't want to be "this" guy but these type of paints are toxic and we should use some precautions when using them. Read the SDS (safety data sheet), Tamiya is providing for all its products free pdf copies. It is no coincidence that some of the listed solvents in this product have exposure limits in a closed room (well ventilated area is a must). It is also suggested to use protective gloves (minimum EN74 grade). Know what you are dealing with and take precautions. Use paints according to the SDS. Stay safe guys.

@dust_bin_gaming7319

This is mostly due to the kind of plastic Bandai uses in their kits (not all plastics are the same). Bandai's kits are also several times thinner than most of GW's kits. But I would experiment on spares first, anyways, just to be sure. Also it's better to *seal*, not prime. Gloss, preferably, as it will promote capillary action. Making application and clean up quicker. Primers tend to be flat, more often than not, and will be more prone to staining since they don't have a perfectly smooth surface.

As a builder of both franchises since.. 2E, and Anime started being a 'thing' in the US... Honesly, I don't use this. I like Citadel's own Washes better. Thin 1:1 with acrylic medium and a drop of dish soap (maybe a few drops of water if it's not *quite* thin enough), and you've got your own 'custom' panel liner, in *any* of Citadel or Vallejo's shades! They behave nearly identically this way. *And*, being water based, clean up without any harsh chemicals like thinners, or lighter fluid (which is the most recommended for cleaning Tamiya's). And, 0 risk of solvents eating plastic.

Can you change the color of the panel liner when you run out of it Say if you had a wash or a contrast paint?

If you are careful and the model is clean then it works, just need to makenl sure the applicator isn't too loaded with ink 🙂

I've got to try this, mu current method is undercoating my model in black and then painting all the panels so carefully I don't do into the resesses (or having to repaint the area if I make a mistake). The the bottle come with the applicator or do you have to buy it separately ?

Cause i could really use that for my tau fire warriors where i already botched the leg guards and crotch plate, did slightly ok with my missile drone with the smallest brush i could find. This never works for me and i have the exact same product? Is there a reason why? It never flowes and always leaves heavy coffee stains around where i panel lined
@SimplyWarhammer
@SimplyWarhammer Жыл бұрын
I guess the more layers or thickness of paint can stop it working too well. I primed/base painted an ebay rescue rather than stripping it and that extra paint made the panel lining less effective....
