I'm not sure why people get hung up on a gun without red dot availability, when it's intended purpose is up close and personal self defense.

Honestly, I have a red dot on my G3 but I’m not a huge fan even though it’s a full customized TORO complete with comp and other fun stuff for competition shooting. The thing has fantastic accuracy but target acquisition and reloading I personally favor a three dot tritium/fiber sight. It is a personal preference but I could honestly throw out the red dot and be better off for it. I’d never trade my Shield Plus PC fiber sights for a red dot even though I have the option to do so. I am getting a GX4 but will for sure put tritium/fiber sights on it.

@@patrickfellers4266 Yup. I've been waiting for Taurus to get their front tritium night sights back in stock so I can grab one for my GX4. I don't want to buy a whole set since I like the simply blacked out rear. I just want to change that front sight.

@@IAMRUSTEDROOT my thoughts on the 3 dot instead of the black back and nightsight front is that in a low light scenario for home defense I wouldn’t be able to line my sights up as accurately without the aid of the framing dots. Again, personal preference but I can shoot faster and equally as effective without the red dot.

@@IAMRUSTEDROOT I do have a question for you since you have a GX4. I plan on using it for a bug-out pack but how concealable is it? Any problems? You might be a different body type than myself but I’ll take any data I can in these decisions.

The job of these micro compacts are to pull fast and get on target quickly with good capacity for more than one target. For this job the GX4 excels. Replace the front sight with a large bright night sight and you have a pistol built for conceal drills. No extras needed.

Given that your target is within 7 yards. You got guys trying to shoot 50 yards with this pistol and calling it bad cause it doesn't group the same as a 5 inch barrel.

I'm glad the gx4 doesn't have an optics plate or a rail. This is for discreet carry not for accessories. Not sure how an optic helps at the effective and typical defensive situation of 10-20ft factoring in adrenaline and reaction. For those wondering the p365 is almost identical in profile but a mm thinner.

@@ricardorodrigues9693 look when I originally wrote this and I still stand by my assessment. Optics unnecessary in a sub compact platform. Practice your draw and effectiveness at ranges of 10 feet.

Recently bought this gun, which for me is strange because 5 years ago you could not give me anything from Taurus. Solid shooter, no issues after the first 100 rounds. Don’t care about rails or add on sights. Solid effort Taurus

1) It's an 11 not 10 round capacity 2) The finish is different from G3C (liquid nitriding , or tenifer on the G3C vs gas nitriding on the GX4). Gas nitriding generally achieves a deeper depth of case hardening and corrosion resistance.

@@2010hdultra The 10 round is just a ban state compliant version. Most manufacturers have one. There are 10 round M&P 2.0 Compacts, but it is hardly accurate to say M&P 2.0 9C have a "10 round capacity".

I haven't had my GX4 very long. Shot about 100 through it. Impressions thus far. Reliable small inexpensive. I think it will be a decent backup. Put larger grip adaptor on like it more gives me more to squeeze. Wanna put another 200 through it to properly evaluate. So far so good.

After seeing numerous good reviews on the G4X, I purchased it from Buds for around $300 and immediately took it to the range firing 150 rounds using a wide variety of training and defensive ammo. The firearm performed flawlessly. I found it very comfortable to shoot and really like the trigger. I also found the breakdown very easy both disassembly and assembly. By way of background, I’m retired law enforcement and own and regularly shoot all of my handguns - including a Taurus G2C, Taurus G3C, M&P Shield 40, Beretta PX4 Storm Subcompact and SIG P365. I couldn’t be more pleased with the G4X and now alternate it as my EDC with the P365.

I like it i got one. I an not really into a Optics on a small budget micro pistol. Some of the Optics cost as much as a pistol. But over all i like the feel. I installed the BAckstrap. But i have yet to fire it, due to time and ammo costs right now. Any way thank you ! Keep up the good video and i hope Mrs Hegshot feels better

I do love my Taurus pistols. On the GX4 I'd like to have seen the sights upgraded. Not a big fan of the blacked out rear sight. Like the flat trigger and backstrap upgrade. Definitely going to add one to my Taurus collection soon!

Men I was going to upgrade from a shield 1.0 to a plus 2.0 but when at my Lgs and held the gx4 and felt in love with the ergonomics and price 446 out of the door, shield plus was going for 596.00 so no brainer for me … shield is bigger heavier more slippery difficult to unlock breach/rack slide, rear sight ramped not flat for one handed operation, gx4 smaller lighter and holds one+ round over the shield plus….Taurus won my money this time, plus with a slight modification/plastic washer to my carbon fiber holster for the shield 1.0 y can holster the gx4 perfectly.

tritium sights for a glock 43x fit this straight up. I think they can be had for $65.. so even if just replacing the front and striping the serrated sights with some paint, you can make this a great EDC. I just got one and it's the same size as my kahr single stack with 6+1 that I can carry in gym shorts and a light tank top here in florida. definitely gonna see about the sights and then get it to the range for break in

Under 300 definitely. For 200 maybe a shield plus. G3c is awesome as well. Never dealt with springfield or sig. Rugers trigger resets usually suck but they r reliable. Big fan of taurus and canik

I just bought my GX4 ($345) and I can not be any happier with my purchase! Straight out of the box and it grouped flawlessly! It does favor low left but a tight grouping. A lil adjusting and it should be just fine! Very lil snap in the recoil. This is my 3rd Taurus...PT 24/7 G2, G2C, and GX4! I may be a lil biased tho...I am a Taurus so...😀

Shot it today. Very accurate for being so small. Shot it more accurate than my g2c. Just as accurate as my shield but i needed the 8rd mag with my shield cuz i couldn't hit nothing with the 7rd flush mag. Suprisingly the 11rd flush mag on the gx4 didn't affect my accuracy. still want to get the 13rd mags tho cuz it is pretty snappy

I ordered Gx4 from Sportsmans at $269 and they surprised me with quick delivery. 5% military and a few explorerewards dollars I got it for $235. I tried a rental at the range and for the price I wanted it. I'm waiting for a keep tinkering trigger for my G2c. I'm pleased with price and quality.

I have the g2c and I love trust it it's been my edc for over a year with about 1000 rounds through it 0 issues but I have to say I have seen at least 3 videos of people with same serious problems of striker not engaging with multiple trigger pulls up to 20 in a row before it strikes with the gx4 not great.

Just picked up my GX 4 TORO. $295 out the door. Couldn't be happier. Compared to my Shield Plus and P365, I actually think I like the GX4 trigger a littler better than both of those.

Very nice review. I bought my GX4 for my NEW EDC. Wasn't looking for a firearm that was Red Dot Optics ready or had a 'rail'. I wanted a small 9mm that would be the best for self defense, concealment, yet have quality and be dependable. I wasn't going to be in any shooting competition with the GX4 as I have other firearms for that. Purchased the GX4 at my local Scheels and got the last one in stock at that time. 329.00 Put the Amerigo Glow Dot front sight on and a big+ over the white factory front sight. 29.95 Received the pinky extentions (2) for the two 11 rd mags that were included and that completed the grip for me....good to go with my pinky on board. 9.98 Of course my 13 rd mag has the extension. That's all I needed to do get the GX4 the way I wanted it on my hip.

I'm only at about 100 rounds out of mine so far, but really enjoying it. I've dry fired it a ton, and the trigger weight has dropped considerably. It was around 7 lbs new, and is now at 4.5 lbs on my lymann scale. If this gun is reliable, I think it's the best choice for micro-9's. It has everything most people need, and has the best pricing. I enjoy shooting it even more than my P365, and will likely replace my P365 in my carry rotation with this once I put a few more rounds through it.

You didn't mention it will take any aftermarket Glock night sights. Also, Taurus makes 13rd. magazines for it now.

Not all Glock comparible front sight will work on the GX4. There is very little room on the GX4 that for some Glock compatible front sight the sight tool will not have enough room to tighten the screw all the way in. OEM Glock front sight from G42/43/43X/48 cannot be installed on the GX4 using the standard screw used in Glock. But the Truglo Pro will work with the GX4 since its screw hole is offset closer towards the rear of the gun. This gives just enough room for the sight tool to work all the way in.

I feel like the next iteration of this gun will have an accessory rail and have an optics cut out... So I'll wait a year or 2 lol will probably be even cheaper by then too. Also, the takedown is dumb, I'm sure they'll fix it too.

I was surprised to find out that the frame is made out of stainless steel instead of polymer. This like having an updated slimmer CZ RONI. Taurus is punching way above their weight class with this pistol. I can’t wait for the TORO version to come out. I don’t even want a micro 9 pistol, but the value received for what you are paying is astronomical that I may have finally purchase a Taurus firearm.

The internal firing control chassis and rails are stainless steel. This chassis is mounted in a polymer grip frame.

I also had a question for you. Not having this gun in my hands yet after a recent purchase, I’m wondering if this is safe to carry without an external safety cocked and loaded.

It is similar to a Glock. Safety trigger. Cocked, there is not enough strength in the striker to ignite the primer if it were to fly, which it can't unless you pull the trigger the rest of the way to fire the gun. You need to carry it in a holster that covers the trigger guard completely and observe trigger discipline. I love it better than my Hellcat lately (with a thumb safety)

I hope that they change the witness hole on the top so it doesn’t blow fouling into the red dot when they come out with the optics version. Otherwise that will be an extremely stupid design.

I bought one and the trigger safety broke the first day. I sent it in to Taurus and called them a week and a half after they received it. They only checked it into their system the day I called for a status update..... a week and a half after they received it. They told me the repair could take up to 4 weeks. Really??? A month and a half to repair a broken trigger safety??? I only shot one mag out of the stupid gun. This is the last Taurus I will ever buy!

The finish? It ain't a $600 gun, it's a budget micro 9. I'll buy it before any other Micro 9 if I buy a Micro 9. I can get one online for $289 with shipping, tax and transfer included...just checked today. A Sig P365 is at $499.

I've been watching numerous GX4 videos and the trigger pull is all over the place from 5 lbs. to 12 lbs. I'll pass until Taurus gets their shit together on that trigger.

I own two Taurus G2c's (9mm & 40 S&W) and a TX12 (and a whole bunch of non-budget weapons), so I'm very comfortable with Taurus products. I'd even been thinking of upgrading my 9mm G2c to the newer G3c, when the GX4 came out. But that's not going to happen now, since a quick look at the GX4 shows it lacks a rail for a light (or combo light and laser) like I have on my G2C. What was Taurus thinking? Other than that, the GX4 appears to be an excellent budget micro. But no rail is a deal breaker for me. And if Taurus is going to upgrade the GX4 to include a rail, how about adding optics capability?

I would advise anyone whose considering this for their micro 9 edc on budget to go with Ruger max 9 or for a little more the shield plus which is what I'm upgrading to as my micro.
