1300 round Full Review. Awesome handgun! This is a winner! Hearing more and more reports of it being reliable and accurate.
-Polymer frame, full size, striker fired, 22lr
-Polymer frame, Solid 7075 aluminum slide Steel insert for breach face, Steel barrel
-Includes 2 mags, Thread adapter
-4.1” barrel. Threaded barrel. Includes thread adapter for 1/2x28. It is a fixed barrel design. But easily removable. Barrel just feels and looks like good quality.
-TX possibly, probably military jargon means Training Excercise
-16 round capacity. Will have 10 round version.
-Mags probably need to be loaded carefully because of the design to allow for 16 rounds.
-5lb trigger. Very short though. Great trigger! No blade safety. Built into trigger shoe. Some take up. Most of that is the trigger shoe closing the gap to the actual trigger. A little bit of creep, but very minimal.
-TX22 17.4 ounces. Glock 23 23.8 ounces. But TX22 frame is 8.55 ounces where Glock 23 frame is 4.6 ounces.
-Sights replaceable. G2C and 709 sights.
-So far very reliable. It didn’t like M22. Shot Winchester White Box, Remington Thunderbolt and Golden Bullet just fine. Of course, it shot higher quality stuff just fine. Ran 325 round gauntlet. Had 2 small stoppages.
-For me very accurate handgun. It’s not a bulls eye gun though. That’s not what it is intended to be.
-Taurus markets this a competition ready. They don’t mean by that that this is a high end bulls eye gun. They mean it is competition ready in the sense of running around shooting steel targets in a fast paced competition.
-Easy takedown.
-The polymer frame is very high quality. It feels nice. The metal central block adds rigidity and weight in the right spot. The polymer parts don’t flex. All the molding marks are very smooth. Looks like very good attention to detail of the lines. No sharp edges.
-Dry fire safe
-Standard 1913 rail
-Fairly small ejection port, but I haven’t had any problems with ejecting. It generally throws the shells 6-7 feet.
-No undue wear. Some loss of finish on slides and underside of barrel where it is natural.
-The Slide stop catches on the steel impact insert instead of on the aluminum slide. Very good idea!
-Nice stippling on the frame. Not too aggressive like SWMP92.0
-No mag safety
-Manual safety. Just right. Won’t engage unless cocked.
-Scallop on side of frame is perfect for resting forward thumb.
-Mags have thumb stud for load assist. Biggy1 showed how he removed the stud and used a rod to pull follower down
-Mags seem to be of high enough quality. They aren’t the best I have handled, but they are good.
-Grip is nice. A little on the big side.
-Suppressor ready!
-Mag release is reversible and metal.
-Like a friend of mine jkv45 said about the gun.
“Sounds about like what I was expecting - decent, but not a high-end comp gun or anything.
It should do exactly what I need it to do - which is mostly put a smile on my face but also be something that I can start a new shooter with.”
-Pretty good price! MSRP is 349, but street price should be around 300. Some a little more some a little less.
-Designed and Made in the USA
-1 year warranty
-Mine is a sample size of 1.
Pros:
Higher Capacity
Built very well
Nice Trigger
Threaded Barrel
Easy Takedown
22lr
Cons:
Some parts made out of polymer
1 year warranty (Has been revised as of March 1, 2019 to be a lifetime warranty to original owner)
22lr

I was just cleaning my TX22 after putting another few hundred rounds of CCI SV’s, and from the front the barrel looks like it wasn’t rifled correctly. When you look down the front of your barrel, does the rifling go all the way to the end of the barrel? It’s a kind of a stupid question, because I’ve never known a barrel to not be rifled all the way.

David Brown I don’t personally own a TX22 so take what I say with a grain of salt. I don’t think it’s rifled all the way because of the thread adaptor which is internal.

I cleaned the crap out of my TX22. After shooting some Stingers through it, and cleaning it again, looks like it was some nasty fowling. I had run M22 through it, fowled up bad. No more M22 for me. Nothing else I have ran through it had anything close to that kind of fowling. It is rifled all the way, and other than the fowling from M22, has been a fantastic firearm!!!

Dude! I put over 500 rounds thru mine, today. Wow!!! Not ONE SINGLE PROBLEM! NOT EVEN A MISFIRE, using Fed 550 bulk ammo. This gun is perfection. Period. Can't wait to put 500 more thru it, tomorrow!!! I love everything about it. I've never been this impressed, with a new gun. Taurus knocked it out of the park, with this one. For real. The trigger reset feels like something that you would pay $1,000 bucks for. Crazy good.

And 3, the price is absolutely incredible. I am more impressed with Taurus everyday, and I applaud them for really upping their game.

Nancy M-R Taurus has come alive in the last few years. I love all 3 of my Taurus firearms. BY FAR, the worst two guns that I own are new Rugers(10/22, 22mag LCR). I was all set to buy the S&W M&P 22, but discovered it was discontinued, so thought the Ruger SR22 would be the best route, but after seeing so many great reviews of the Taurus TX22, I think this is the one. Very few issues with ammo, great trigger, awesome capacity. Going to go see how it feels, but leaning that way now. And they have the TX 22 Competition and the accuracy is supposed to be stunning.

I bought one last year on a whim. Went in to pick something else up and saw it. For $198 I couldn’t pass it up. Phenomenal. I love this pistol. It will eat everything and never jams. So simple to takedown and clean. This thing runs as fast as you’ll pull the trigger. If I had known how awesome it was gonna be I would have bought two! If you can find one buy it. And the grip, wow. It fits the hand beautifully. And the trigger shoe is great, doesn’t have that stupid middle lever. It puts my Walther to shame. You don’t need a magazine assist to load or alter it lol. If you can’t load .22 into a magazine maybe you should try a slingshot instead. Overall it’s a great pistol

Dry Firing...... its not just the chamber damage, but the breaking of the firing pin. I worked several years for a gunsmith, and the #1 repair, was replacing broken firing pins from OVER dry firing them. They are hardened, and brittle, and over time they will crack from the shock of not hitting a soft primer or rim, so they will eventually break. Better keep a spare unless you trade guns often. So many new .22lrs are so called Dry Fire safe, meaning they will not damage the breech, but the firing pin can still break. This goes for ALL guns.

I am not ashamed to say it is a Taurus up next to a Ruger mark IV, or Browning Buck mark, and I do not care that my full size M&P .22 has been relegated. Had almost 100 rounds after checking the operation and at slow speed, double tap and fast fire. Kept them all inside a coffee cup with my old eyes. That's very good engineering, and very precise specs, to make a .22 that's safe to dry fire. The striker block is allowing just enough protrusion from the striker to ignite the round, but not contact the barrel. Impressive! Plus, you could allow it to protrude more, if you were having light strike issues(if you knew what you were doing). I love this gun.

Picked mine up tonight and wow, the ergonomics are terrific for my medium hands. Grip texture, angle and shape feel great and it naturally points towards my target. Feels like it was made for me. I kinda love the side cut out for my supporting thumb. Why doesn't everybody do that? Of course when I get it out to the range tomorrow I may change my mind on that. The trigger feels pretty darn nice too. Fit and finish seem good. Take down is easy. Mags took 16 rounds no problem. I do wish the mags were metal tho. Oh, that's another thing, the gun it quite light. Surprisingly so, even with a full mag. Overall I'm pretty excited about this little guy. Looking forward to putting some rounds thru it and teaching my step daughter how to shoot with it.

Put a few hundred rounds thru it yesterday. Ergonomics are great for my hands. Very, very comfortable. Reasonably accurate. Very nice trigger. Had one misfeed. Was using Federal 40 great 1240 for rounds. I think the failure may be mag related. The mags are my only complaint. Plastic and not very confidence inspiring. A buddy who hadn't shot in a very long time may have tried to jam an extra round into one mag with a little too much force. 🙄 I'll keep track and see if failures are mag specific. All-in-all tho, a really fun handgun. Easy and comfortable to shoot and accurate enough for my plinking needs out to 35+ft or so.

Perfect!!! Just got mine Saturday, out the door from my FFL for 289. Put 600 rounds through it Sunday, 500 of Thunderbolt, and 100 of CCI MM’s. Two failure to fire with the TB’s, perfect with the MM’s. The two that failed to fire had strong strikes on them, so probably dud rounds. Now to order more magazines. The magazines aren’t horrible to load, in fact that little loader that comes with the gun is pretty simple but effective. I sold my Ruger SR22 to get this pistol. I do not regret it. Now I have to get one for my wife, cause she absolutely loves it. I don’t know if Taurus will make the same design in 9mm, but I love the stipple. It’s just enough, while not being too rough. For a sub 300 gun, it’s got nice quality. If it had S&W rolled onto the slide, it would probably sell for 400-450. Great job Taurus, glad I could get in on the ground level with this pistol.

You have really done an incredible amount of review work on this gun. I was on my way to buy the Ruger Mark IV when this gun came out. I wasn't at first all that interested but after watching your reviews I am reconsidering it. If you don't mind could you compare this gun and the Ruger Mark IV as far as accuracy goes? If you have another pistol that you think I should also consider please let me know. Accuracy is the most important feature to me. Cost and lightweight is next since my wife just doesn't care for heavy pistols. Congratulations again to you on the depth that you went into on this weapon. Plus, amazingly, you hit the internet before anyone. I've never seen one reviewer do such a thorough review of any pistol on the internet. Count me in as a subscriber.

The gun having a empty chamber is completely ammo related and not the magazine. Ammo that is loaded too light will not push the slide back far enough to come forward and pick up a new round. My sr22 does this with cheap bulk ammo from time to time. Great review.

With barrel and Guide rod recoil spring replaced. So be warned if you need to be repaired it will take at least 4 months 😣😣😥

Not really sure what all the beef is about the ease of mag loading for this thing. It's not meant to be a 'grab from one side assist button'. If you try to pull down too much you'll mess up the round alignment. Simply plug the 1st one in through the feed lips and thereafter sort of gently pinch both sides of the follower button to assist with pushing the follower down. I can certainly see where that could be problematic for individuals with arthritic or other hand condition where dexterity could be limited. The little loading tool now furnished with these helps but is much slower if you can manage without it. I also have a maglula that has been modified to load the Kadet magazine and that appears to be a no-go with the TX22. It is important that the loading tension be adequate in order for the bases to stagger into position by themselves. Plus the beak thickness won't allow the 16th rd to go in. I've only put 2 mags through it so far and it was great. I've spent more time handling and getting familiar with the mags. I'll get a bunch more this week through the pipe. Really seems very nice for a lightweight, budget friendly gun. And with the rebate currently offered by Taurus it gets even more budget friendly.

I was torn between the full size M&P 22, and the TX-22. But, because of the striker fired, round count, slide stop, extra mag, better trigger, and ergonomics, I'm going with the TX-22. Picking one up, Monday!!! I hope he has one in stock.... They've been selling like crazy.

I've had my TX22 for six months now - above and far away my Fav handgun - 2000+ rounds through it and it only hiccups if I use cheap ammo, but then, it never does when I use CCI and is that REALLY expensive as compared to other calibers...? I say a resounding...NO! 👍😁

@@countryguywithcamera thanks for the reply. I am considering four .22s. TX22, Beretta M9 22, Ruger SR22, Browning Buckmark micro bull 4 inch barrel model. It will be my second 22 as i have s Ruger MKIV 22/45 tactical and love that one. I want another 22 for fun, training and practicing my trigger pull and sight alignment. ...which of the four would you suggest? ...Do you think the tx22 is built well as a long term gun or a short term throw away?
@countryguywithcamera
@countryguywithcamera 3 жыл бұрын
@@francostacy7675 the Browning buckmark is one of those legendary guns that can be passed down, I'm just not a target pistol kinda guy. The safety is odd on the sr22 but they are great pistols, however they are small. I have no input on the Beretta. However the Beretta and tx22 are both full size guns with controls to match. Tx22 also has 16+1 mag capacity. I went with the TX22 over the other competition due to ergonomics, and price. Mine has been absolutely amazing. Although bad ammo caused it to get sent back when my girlfriend experienced a squib load. Taurus covered it on their dime with great and friendly customer service even thew in a free mag. My only complaint was their turn around time, I thought 3 months was a little excessive, however it had only been on the market for 3 months at that time

I have one and the slide stop locks on every 2nd or 3rd round. Love the way it shoots but hate having to send the side home every other round. This happens with mini mags, cci standard velocity, and fed automatch. Happen every 8-10 rounds with cci clean subsonic/suppressed. Called Taurus (have been impressed with their CS in the past) and they told me it’s too new so they don’t have parts and to call back in a month. I’ve concluded the slide stop spring is too weak. The frequency decreases when it got dirty because the grit provided resistance on the slide stop lol. If roll pins weren’t what’s keeping the thing together, I’d take it apart and see if I couldn’t just fab another spring. Been considering making a channel just so I could post a video of it. Also great vids, man.

Guns & Accessories thanks for thinking of me! Yeah I ran about 200 rounds with the suppressor on and got it reaaaaaallly dirty. The grit from that between the slide stop and the frame provides sufficient grit that it’s about 90% now. I have a label to send it back to Taurus, which I’m going to, as the rear sight is adjusted as far left as it can go and the pistol still prints about 0.5-0.75” right at 10 yards, which has translates to holding on the left edge of a 10” steel gong at 75 yards. The sights were so-adjusted from the factory, so I feel as though they should’ve moved the sight assembly at the factory. It doesn’t have much room in the dovetail to be adjusted. I’ve installed about a dozen sets of sights in dovetails, but they were all steel, so I’m going to send it to Taurus to be moved so I don’t bugger up the plastic assembly. Also, sorry for not getting around to posting a video. The one time I had a camera man, I made it through two mags with 10 rds each without a hiccup, wouldn’t you know.
