New years day is a WHOLE metaphor for the whole album. Cleaning up the mess after the party with her lover=finally feeling ok after the chaos and the hate bc she found what actually matters to her. ITS BEAUTIFUL 😭😭😭😭😭

Midnights should definitly go next, midnights is a different sound but very similar and I feel you will like it, and you seem to like more the mature taylor so midnights is the best thing to listen to if you want to hear more of this taylor, obviously the 3 AM edition.

I love that you catch all her adlibs and harmonies because that's a big reason I love listening to her. She is SO good at keeping you interested in every single lyric and melody and note... even if a song seems "repetitive" she brings so many layers and sometimes changes one word that flips the whole script. Taylor was so ahead of her time when she made reputation. When the album was released, critics had mixed reviews because since the production and the theme is not what they expect from Taylor but as the years went by, it became one of the best album despite being an experimental.

I always LOVE your unhinged reactions to the songs that really GAG YOU. I can't wait for the next reaction hdiwnjskahxs. I think you should do midnights next!! it has more of that synth sound, but 1989 is known as the pop bible. but if you do midnights next make sure to listen to the 3am edition which is basically the deluxe version.

She has mentioned in various interviews that she keeps a running list in her notes app of her favorite words, phrases she hears/comes up with, that she wants to work into a song eventually, etc. 😊

I LOVE YOUR REACTIONS everything’s a vibeee. Based on everything you’d probably really love Midnights lots of synth with a moody pop vibe, 1989 is Rep and Midnight’s upbeat cousin. Red is giving country pop Taylor when you’re in the mood and the Speak Now vault tracks are so so nice.

Such a great reaction, had a blast watching it! Got me back to listening to Reputation for the first time, I think we all gagged. I do think 1989 should be next to keep up with the great pop energy. I absolutely love Red, it’s in my top three, but coming from Rep, 1989 is like the brighter version of it. Light, fun, vibrant, and it’s the pop bible. Red after 1989 that would be a nice way to calm down and get back to some heartbreak and misery, while still having some bright pop moments in it.

I know I'm commenting a lot but like I am high and can't help it. I think "This is why we can't have nice things" is the semi tame version of what she wanted to say and on Rep (TV) we are going to get a scathing song that should have been there on the album.

“This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things” doesn’t fit sonically, but I love the song. When you’re pissed at someone, it’s just so fun to sing. And I don’t know where else you could put it… maybe as a bonus track? A plain single like “I Don’t Want to Live Forever”? I think you gotta listen to Midnights. You want vibing? You want synths? You want storytelling and metaphors and a concept album? I feel like I can just lie down and close my eyes and check the fuck out with Midnights. The concept part of it is it’s supposed to be thoughts that keep you up at night. And the 3am/Til Dawn tracks are the ones that keep her up all night. Other notes: - I think you’ll like “Look What You Made Me Do” better if you watch the music video and the concert - I think you’ll find Red real hit or miss. It’s not sonically cohesive at all. There’s a lot of great stuff, something for everyone…but also something everyone hates lmao. My only T Swift skip is on Red, actually. - I think you’ll like 1989, but I think you’ll like Midnights more. I feel like Midnights is 1989’s big sister? Last thing-did the link I sent last time work for watching the Rep tour? Great reaction, really enjoyed it. Hope you weren’t too hungover!

I can't entirely agree. This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things fits the album, especially the front half before Delicate and LWYMMD. It has heavy production, with drums and bass being the focus and less poppy synths than the second half. Sure, it's not a stand-out track like Getaway Car or Dress, but that doesn't mean it should be kicked from the album. Besides, it wouldn't fit on any other album; it only really fits with Reputations' production. It also wouldn't make sense to have it as a single bonus track, and 'I Don't Want To Live Forever' was from a movie soundtrack, and most sources label it as a Zayn song ft. Taylor (even though I believe she wrote it, but legal things get complicated). This is just my opinion, though. 🖤

@@emmalemay4129 I’m afraid that I’m one of the handful of weirdos who thinks it would be great if Taylor released EPs or singles in addition to albums. 😅 So it’s not just the one song, really. Just a little CD with that, a mashup of it and WANEGBT, a rock remix, a karaoke version, nothing else. I got lots of those kinds of CDs when I was living in Japan, and I think they’re delightful. And she’s only got two EPs, but she has sooo many unreleased songs… Since she worries so much about sonic cohesion, I worry that we’re going to miss out on gems like “Haunted” in the future as a result. So that’s where the eagerness for stand-alone singles comes from, if that makes sense?

@@emmalemay4129 I meant like…how Haunted had such a different sound from everything else. And how in the years since she hasn’t done individual experimental sounds inside albums. Basically mourning future Haunted equivalents. So if she made a habit of dropping little bonus singles…maybe we could get more little gems. (I mean, I’m desperate for so many unreleased songs… “Just South of Knowing Why”, “Need”, “All Night Diner”… Look, I even want “Thug Story” lmao. I would buy a literal DVD of that music video.)

You can look so far back & see so many Easter eggs she gives for future albums and songs! She started doing hints like these for us in the first album if you ever wonder if it was on purpose it probably was shes such a genius! I always get so excited when I hear them in songs even if it might be coincidence. Also, love your reactions, this is my favorite album! I think you will love Midnights as well. Please do the Midnights Til Dawn Edition because that has the extra bonus songs on it that the regular version doesn’t. Also the song Your Losing Me is part of Midnights but was put out later as a single. It had previously only been on a special CD that was sold at a few Eras tour shows.

omg yayyy this was so good!!! there were definitely songs I didn't like upon first listen but they have definitely grown on me. large in part because of the Rep Tour. the live versions are soooo good. especially King of My Heart. i didn't start liking that song until after I saw the live version. I really like the theatrics of This is Why We Can't Have Nice Things. It's taylor at her prettiest IMO and the lyrics are my favorite part of it. but yeah, once you said it, I definitely think call it what you want would have been amazing right after Dress. And New Years Day is honestly top tier. a bit bittersweet now after her break up with joe, but it's honest and vulnerable and hopeful. ending on that song after all the revenge and pettiness from the earlier songs really paints a whole picture of an album that works so well. also appreciated you talking about what the album's overall feel is. the nighttime aesthetics are so good. i think 1989 would be great follow-up to this. i think midnights is like a mix between reputation and 1989, so I would do 1989 first.

Your reactions are always the best!!! I think you’d love 1989 and Midnights, but if you listen to 1989 TV, make sure to do the vault tracks and the re-record of Bad Blood with Kendrick Lamar. The Kendrick Lamar version still has the 1989 TV album cover, but it’s separate from the album. I can’t wait to see what you post next!!
