You can do timing curves in your launch control. Like, just an example, the button pulls 3 degrees of timing out, release the button and it puts 1 degree back in a half second, another degree after a full second and another in 2 seconds. This will help manage horsepower with your limited control of boost. Just spit balling. You can even do this on the throttle position sensor. I know you like tinkering in the software. Just maybe giving ideas to think about.

Spooled soft copper line is the plan stuff to use . Tight to the frame makes a good heat sink minus your wrap . . Instead Wrap your exhaust with aluminum backed hvac tape . 7 layers is a fantastic thermal insulation that works off radiated heat reflection . The glue carbonizes and you have black -shint -black -shiney -etc . Hot gases flow far better and it dampens tone . I love this stuff !!!

I am loving this truck! A common mistake that I have also done (smoked the trans) is to zip-tie the cooler lines together for nice tight clearances. This effectively negates the trans cooler because the hot fluid in one line heats up the cooled fluid in the other line by the time it gets back to the transmission. The simple zip-tie wire spacer trick works perfect to keep the lines far enough apart so the cooler actually works as it should. Also check out Cal-Tracs or Slide-a-links to help traction and eliminate wheel hop, a must have for leaf sprung drag vehicles. Looking forward to seeing this thing progress!

That Derale trans cooler should be more than enough to keep that trans cool. That location is the issue, no flow through with being mounted against a flat surface on the backside, no air flow and mounted directly above the exhaust. Mount it where you put that second cooler and you should be fine. If that doesn’t fix it you have a trans problem.

@Mr_Ruhl
@Mr_Ruhl 5 ай бұрын
@@Taylordrifts yeah, the cateye front clips have more room between the grill and the radiator than these 99-02 fronts. Everyone is saying to get a 40k, but I think the tru-cool 30k would fit better where you have it underneath the front. It's still the superior plate\fin type and has side fittings rather than at the bottom\top as it's 6"x 23"x .75". With the 30k you could probably get rid of the one near the exhaust in the back and maybe see if they make some fans for it, or if you have at least 1" between your intercooler and radiator it could slip in between so hot air isn't being pulled through the intercooler.

True Kool 40k up front in good airflow and you'll never have cooling issues. The 3rd gear "spool mod" from experience puts soo much heat in the trans and fast. And if I'm not mistaken is a fast way to burn up some clutches. Maybe something to look into more. Also it doesn't sound like the transmission shifts are very noticable at all when making a pass.

After seeing this cooler again, not surprising that it’s getting hot. Probably not the best that it’s sitting above the exhaust, especially if the fan is pushing air through the cooler. And beyond that, doesn’t look like there’s a lot of room for the hot air to get out above the cooler. Could try switching the polarity of the fan to pull air through the cooler if it’s not already, should take the exhaust out of the equation, or at least make it less of a factor, make sure the shroud is sealed good if you’re doing it this way, but I know you already knew that. And then angle the cooler more. Should be sitting in there at like a 30° angle or so. That way it kinda acts like a scoop for air as you’re driving, and it won’t have to work so hard to pull air from above the cooler if that makes sense. Mounting coolers under the bed is very common in the diesel world. That’s how they all do it. 2000hp+ “street” trucks keep tranny temps at 120 all day with a single cooler like this

I've got a TruCool 40k up front behind the intercooler and in front of the radiator and I can easily stay 100* within ambient outdoor temps. Very similar setup, just in a Bronco. I've got a setup in my crawler like you ran with a cooler in the back as space is tight up front but I used a 25 pass Derale unit and it still doesn't keep my C4 cool after extended beatdowns. Not sure what I'm going to do there, run two of them or run the trans fluid through the radiator... not sure.

Dude please build this thing into a pre runner. You haven't gone too far you can still do it!! Seriously man Camburg makes a really good kit and you can use the stock mounting points with a few kits. Those get you like 16-18 inches of travel I believe. I mean you have the RX-7 now. Why 2 straight line vehicles? I mean, you pre runner the thing out you could still throw some radials on the back, crank the coilovers as low as they go, bobs your uncle. Before I built my extended cab 1995 f150, I had a 2001 chevy single cab short box. It was a 2wd, v6, stick shift work truck. I put denali interior in it, built up a 14:1 LQ9, 4L80E, and built a Dana 60 to accept the trailing arms, coilovers etc I was using. I ran a Dana 60 because I don't carry a ton of shit in my truck. I carry one spare, some tools, spare driveshaft, alternator, and serpentine belt. I also keep a couple injectors and spark plugs in the glovebox. That's it. So I really needed that super heavy rear axle for ballast. Anyway I built that truck for $9k and it was flat out badass man. Not on the level of the ford i own today but, I have $50k into that thing and I do all the work myself. Ive been drifting since like 2008. After the Marines and racing motocross my entire childhood, my body is too screwed up to race moto anymore. I still crank big ass whips, but no more racing. Drifting is what took the place of moto. I absolutely LOVE drifting. But dude, I swear to god, I love driving my pre runner more. Its an absolute riot man. I wont get into all the shit I did to it but its a twin turbo big block ford that made 720 at the wheels with 40 inch tires. Over 800 ft lbs. People are right when they say you don't need a ton of power to have fun...but when you do have a ton of power in a pre runner, it makes you feel like a god. I'm telling you man, you have a damn good platform there.
