I can listen to this Concerto over and over again. All 3 movements shine in their own way and its the only concerto that I can listen to multiple times and not feel bored of it. Tchaikovsky was one of the best composers who ever lived no doubt.

Completely agree with you. Half the time listening to other pianists I spend the whole performance feeling as though I have been running for a bus. This is just perfect. Bravo Natalie.

Except for the fact, I was enthralled watching her face and her movements as she felt the music, this is a recording, I could listen to with my eyes closed to absorb the pure enjoyment of the sounds! I wish the man who owned this house was still with us, for he would have loved this!

I wonder if Caterina Valente has ever seen this video! My fave of Natalie's many solo performance videos is the Chopin Scherzo #2, Chopin Institute ch. Audio is too weak, but still well worth viewing. I wish my mother had lived long enough to have seen this video. I took her to many piano recitals over the years.

Your comment about your mother, touched my heart. You were a good son. Today is my mother's birthday(stepmother) but she is the only one I knew. She loved country music and so many of Webb Pierce, Ferlin Husky, Faron Young, Kitty Wells, and many others from that era. I was never able to take her anywhere. She did finally go to visit Nashville, with her brother in her early 70s. I have never been to a piano recital, or many other concerts of any kind. I saw Kitty Wells, the Wright brothers, she was married to Johnny I believe. Hank Williams, Jr when he was very young, I saw at a high school in Va. Ernest Tubb, Narvel Felts, Gene Watson, are a few I saw at county fairs. My tickets for John Fogerty , I have purchased for June 6th, I am super excited about.

Appreciate the comments! I just left a comment on that new Ray Price video BeMisty posted, which I notice you also liked. Of all the videos I have recommended, it gratifies me the most that you are so impressed by this one, since it is so far off the beaten path of country. But I was 100% sure you would like it! But nowhere NEAR as nuch as you do! Great music is great music. All these immortal classical music composers fed off gypsy tunes and the folk music of their era to embellish and build into more profound large scale symphonic masterpieces. So it is all tied in. If Tchaikovsky had been around when Ray Price was in his prime, he very likely would have been one of his biggest fans! And for all we know, Ray Price may have loved Tchaikovsky! The best part is that I doubt if you would ever have randomly encountered this video, whereas with the country, you already knew of much I have recommended, and would most likely have eventually found everything else on your own without me. Great music, and an appreciation and respect for God, are the greatest "ties that bind!"

Yes. With what this stellar young Czechoslovkian lass brings to this performance, it is easy to understand why this is the most popular piano concerto ever composed; and this assessment is based on only hearing the first movement!

Her 2nd round performance was even more spectacular in my opinion. Her performance of Rachmaninoff's Corelli Variations was stunning

Dear Javier Tan: Thanks for your kind assistance. I watched the 2nd round and was impressed. For some reason the comments section is NOT dis abled for the videos of the finals.(???) Anyway, it was nice to finally have new material from Natalie to view. Her Rachmaninoff 3; first movement randomly popped up, and I was elated. It was ever so gracefully and meticulously played, but lacked the fire I have seen from her, even in mere studio practice type videos. It seemed like she was hold- ing back. The male prize winner with a Russian sounding last name, but who was not listed as a Russian, also was underplaying this mighty warhorse. Perhaps for a reason. Also, the finals videos had weak audio which needs to be amped up. Thanks again!☺

I personally found the orchestra in the competition rather awful. I am also still wondering how Natalie only got 4th. The participant who got 3rd performed one of the most dismal Tchaikovsky 1 I have ever heard. The winner of the competition also did not perform the Rach concerto with as much clarity and many of his phrases sounded very murky and unclear.

I agreed enough with the essence and spirit of your remarks to give you a thumbs-up, but think you exaggerated somewhat regarding the issue of "being out" by hitting wrong notes, which the legendary Arthur Rubinstein was wont to do, and all pianists inevitably fall victim to. The key is to minimize them. Having watched many of Ms. Schwamova's videos, she seems to be adept at avoiding them. I daresay we are all itching to see her play the next two movements of this concerto. I would think this should have already transpired given the level of favorable response she has garnered thus far from her admirers. Respectfully.....
