Join me and my friend, Arlene Oliveros, for some kwentong buhay! She is a Chef, Storyteller at Olive Rose Farmhouse and the 1st Filipino-Canadian Sommelier.
Recognized by Tatler Asia as “one of the most influential female wine experts in Asia”, Arlene Oliveros wears many hats as a food and wine specialist and as an entrepreneur. She is an internationally renowned Filipino-Canadian sommelier, food and wine reviewer and VINOpreneur behind her World of Wines and Fraiche Vinotherapy and Enocosmetics.
In 2015, national magazine Canadian Immigrant placed Arlene on its cover and recognized her as the first Filipino-Canadian Certified Sommelier. In 2019 in Paris, France, Arlene was recognized as one of 100 Most Influential Filipina Women by the Global Filipina Women’s Network for her trailblazing journey in the global wine industry. In 2021, Singapore’s Wine and Dine included her in the list of 7 female wine experts in Asia who “break the glass ceiling” and who paved the way for other women in wine.
Currently, Arlene is in the Philippines launching her own ”terroir-focused” Olive Rose Farmhouse and Farm Kitchen in Nasugbu where she is the chef, sommelier and passionate storyteller of fine food and wines.
In her recently launched social media platform The Food and Wine Guru - Food, Wine and Life , Arlene explains that her priority now is to challenge the global wine industry to a paradigm shift. She teaches a more mindful approach to the enjoyment of food and wines and shifts the messages of wines toward promoting kindness, equality, love and compassion in the world.
