First time the TDI Ranger has moved under its own [diesel-fueled] power! Forgive my neighbor's poor choice in music at the end of the video. Exhaust at this point is just a downpipe.

Yes I’m in the stages of doing this same swap. Have a ranger that was given to, was planning on fixing some of the gremlins that came with it. Drove it for a while. The engine gave it up a few weeks ago. Now I have a idea of it’s going to sound and I like it. Just have to find the donor engine.

You have done a great job. With the price of gas in Canada this is a great swap. Will you be posting any drawings or pics of your adapter plate? I have had 4 rangers. My present one is a 2009 4 litre Sport. Great truck but would love to do a diesel swap. I have also had 5 diesel cars 4 vw"s and 1 Mercedes.

What motor mounts did you use? Any trouble with clearance from pan? Or steering?

I used the stock Ranger mounts and fabricated new engine brackets. No clearance issues with oilpan or steering rack.

how is everything holding up? i would love to have one like this! how much do you think you have invested into the swap with the engine included. just wondering if you would possibly be interested in swapping out a diesel into a hardbody for some extra cash??

Hi Max. It all depends on how cheap you can get the donor motor, how complete it is and the condition. It doesn't do you any good to buy a super cheap motor that needs a $2k rebuild and another $1k in parts/harness. Best advice is to buy up either a wrecked tdi or one with a bad transmission.

Oh, I've got almost 10k miles on it now. Been averaging a rock solid 39mpg no matter what I do. I've hauled several jettas/golfs on a car dolly and towed em like a champ!
