What a nice swap, i own a 1.9 tdi beetle, and a 2.8 TD ranger, my ranger only makes 114 HP and 134 pounds of torque, i always have this swap in my mind, because the 1.9 tdi got so much potential and such a good mpg,. My ranger gets 26mpg and the lil beetle gest 38. I got to make this swap

@@greengeeker1 I'm from Guatemala, central América, between 2002 and 2007 , we got a ford ranger with a 2.8td power stroke, mechanical injection, very durable, and a 3.0 TD power stroke , electronic injection, this was more powerful but not as reliable as the 2.8 TD, with time that 114 ho and 134 pounds of torque feels underpowered , that's why I wish I can do your swap, the 1.9 TDI makes good power with a little money, and daaaaam they make so good mpg. Your swap is a dream on wheels hahaha.

Yes I’m in the stages of doing this same swap. Have a ranger that was given to, was planning on fixing some of the gremlins that came with it. Drove it for a while. The engine gave it up a few weeks ago. Now I have a idea of it’s going to sound and I like it. Just have to find the donor engine.

Do you think this swap would be doable on a 1990 manual 4x4 ranger? The stock 2.9 is really lacking torque.
@AirborneRenegade
@AirborneRenegade 2 жыл бұрын
1.9s don’t have much more torque. They’re more for economy. They have 177lb-feet of torque. Your talking about a swap just to gain 7lb-feet. But to answer your question it should be just about the same to swap it. Nothing is different between the 2wd Ranger and 4x4 aside from the 4x4 having a transfer case and beefier frame. You’d also have to change the entire fuel system to support diesel fuel.

Is this the same as the BKC engine? I have just done the timing belt and now the car won't start, timing marks line up correctly. I noticed your crank locking mark is in a different place to mine though, mine locks at something like 1 o'clock and yours locks at 11 o'clock. Everything else looks identical though.

Greengeeker, I've got a problem and question. My ABS light goes on, and there is no error code stored in the ABS module. So I was thinking about checking the wires of the ABS connector. I assume that the sensors are fine, because I can read the spead they are measuring, with vcds while driving. I can also turn on the motor and bleed the brakes with VCDS, so the ABS module and pump should be alright. The question: Where do the cables go, that do not go to the sensors or provide the module with power? Or, better phrased: Where can I unplug a plug, so that I can measure the resistance of the cables in question? Also, amazing video. Thanks.
