Mikey's Anhyzers are totally nonexistent. Let's help with that! This video goes over some important issues that keep him from achieving the anhyzer angle and some cues to fix his form.

That was the best video intro ever. I had to stop it and post this before even watching the video itself. Heck, I might just rewind and watch the intro itself again. Nice.

The pre-positioning of the elbow in relation to the torso and the wrist in relation to the elbow is a great prompt for me, i just imagine Niklas Antilla "rocking the baby" and my release angles are significantly more predictable. Also, production value?? 13/10 🌟

I like the instruction to make sure you elongate the throw. I drop my arm too soon in the backswing which I am sure is costing me power. Love you guys!

I use anhyzer drives for my distance. I throw stable to overstable discs and a few understable discs but it works for me. You can get crazy distance when you need it

I tore my right shoulder last year and required surgery. In my down time I learned how to play left handed, and got up to about 250-275 feet of distance. I’m back to playing right handed as of a month ago. I don’t necessarily have to learn anhyzer shots because I can just throw left handed instead 😂 Im still going to learn anhyzer, and I’m working my way back to 300 feet right handed. My form is all thrown off, but slowly getting better.

had to come back to this one after trying to throw rollers that were just turning into lazy air-bounce turnovers. i'm fully committed to screwing up every anny shot i attempt this evening at league, but at least i'll be attempting!

Keeping the nose down on these shots seems to be my struggle. Would be interested to hear talk about wrist position- of if proper arm swing is the real issue and the wrist can just be neutral...
@OverthrowDiscGolf
@OverthrowDiscGolf 2 ай бұрын
It’s tougher for sure because your arm doesn’t like to supinate higher up but it’s the same motion just to a greater degree

@@OverthrowDiscGolf I second this ask! This is the main reason I dont throw anny shots for distance, I cannot get the nose down. Probably comes down to more practice.

I try (and often fail) to focus on one "new thing" at a time. And right now I really need to get better on shots that go, and finish, right. Neither my anhyzer nor my forehand is very good. If you "had to choose just one" to focus on, which would you prioritize....improving my forehand, or improving my anhyzer (with the tips in this video)?

There's another popular instructor that teaches leaning back while keeping the disc perpendicular to the chest for anhyzer throws, i.e. using the body instead of the wrist to control the angle. Do you consider this valid? Can you estimate what percentage of pros use either technique, or would both be valid for different situations?
@OverthrowDiscGolf
@OverthrowDiscGolf 2 ай бұрын
For most moderate anhyzer shots pros will still be bent forward a bit as it’s the easiest way to get power. Once you need A LOT of anhyzer or finesse over power then you really get into the lean back territory. But check out the posture from behind on our Drew and Simon slow motion videos and see for yourself

Best perk of coming from ultimate frisbee background. When you're trapped on the sideline with a 6'2" mark forcing you to throw around them you learn how to anhyzer.

All ultimate players are good with angle control. However there are some other areas we can struggle with full power shots imho

I got 2 questions: 1. Do you think there’s more distance potential in being able to throw clean anhyzers? 2. I think I have a similar problem as Mikey in that I have difficulty not collapsing my elbow. I also notice that I tend to throw nose up when trying to throw on anny. Does focusing on that pull through and having the elbow out get at throwing a proper nose angle on anny?
@Chillydall02
@Chillydall02 2 ай бұрын
I’m not a form coach so I can’t offer insight about ur 2nd question. But neither hyzer or anhyzer has more distance potential. It just depends on the wind and the person. But generally if conditions are somewhat calm you’ll see most pros in distance competitions throw hyzer flips.
@OverthrowDiscGolf

1. No 2. It makes proper nose angle much easier to achieve
@NickCarroll
@NickCarroll Ай бұрын
As someone with the "elbow drop" problem, I recommend you look into 2 things: 1) Shoulder down and out, elbow up and out. This creates more room for the disc, and puts it more inline with the elbow during the swing. 2) Make sure you're not leaning past your brace. Your body might be bringing the shoulder up and the arm in as a balance measure. I'm not saying this is for sure what you're dealing with, but I think those are two things to check, just in case.

Are you talking about for nose up approach shots? He had an issue with dropping the elbow so that would only make it worse I would think.

I have the opposite problem, a high tendency for anhyzers when throwing with power. Maybe I can reverse-engineer something from this though

The word “champ” has meant bite, as in a horse's biting impatiently at a bit, since at least 1577, according to the Oxford English Dictionary. The word “chomp” has been a variant of “champ” since at least 1645, though the early references deal with chomping on food rather than at metal bits. 🤓 🥏⛳⛓️
