Dirt racing for sure. Some of the clay tracks are like running on asphalt or concrete.

I remember when I was kid loose tracks were all that was available, the buggies bounced around like mad, mind you they were 80s Tamiya buggies so I think that was baseline. Your videos are fun and I'm excited to go racing this year. Thanks a bunch.

Great vidieos. I've been out of the RC world for about 7 years just getting back to it. I run a Traxxas Slash short course truck all set up for the track an a HPI Savage X 4.6 nitro. So now I find out the clay indoor track I use to go race an have a lots of fun closed down some time ago. I'm in Northern Illinois close to Wisconsin, looking for a track now. Keep the good racing coming

Dirt is THE great equalizer in RC racing. You could take a TT02BR out on it and it'll keep up with those thousand-dollar top-end machines with the right setup. Car control matters so much more on dirt than it does on clay or carpet. If you take a look at all the 1/8th scale cars you'll notice they're still built to handle a wide variety of surfaces and conditions, they're not overspecialized like the 1/10th scale stuff, that's because if you tried to make a 1/8th scale buggy specialized for smooth, super high-bite tracks to the same degree as the 1/10th scale cars you'll end up with a vehicle that's basically useless. Honestly, the track shown in this video is pretty high-bite by dirt standards.

People like high traction so they can run a 2WD buggy without having to learn to drive a 2WD buggy, so they can copy setups instead of having to tune for track conditions, and so that they can feel good about spending huge amounts of money on expensive 2WD jumpy touring cars. 2WD buggy ran on dirt like everything else before carpet and clay tracks came around. As for price, yesn't. Racing has always been expensive but back then the cost wasn't in your kit, it was in your running gear, and you used to be able to at least show up and run even if you had the RTR version of whatever car you're running, with the option to gradually upgrade that car to something competitive over time. These days motors and ESCs have gotten a lot cheaper, but as the kits have become more and more specialized towards smooth, high-bite surfaces their price tags have skyrocketed.
