I prefer this Conan and format. Intelligent and way more engaging with his guests since he can bring out more thoughtful storytelling. Got himself out of the quick laughs and theatrics of live television. Jimmy Fallon for this reason is puppeteering and nauseating. That said I am hooked on these Conan episodes. 👏

De Niro!👌🏼😎❤️ ..Many wild things flash through the mind at the mention or even whisper of that name. A great man: and that's saying the least. Undoubtedly, like few others have been he will be remembered for "generations" to come not just years, I can easily imagine. - Nothing and nobody can cover Robert De Niros' giant footprint on Hollywood and Cinematic History, not in the way he has and it's sad but I see nobody else today like he was in his prime, just noone to compare to these days, it doesn't exist: there's only one De Niro! Always gonna love this artist, could hardly wait to see anything he starred in, through my entire life of just under 40 years.

Funny stuff. I too had the good fortune of interacting with Robert De Niro as a sales clerk at the famed Hammacher Schlemmer flagship store in midtown Manhattan. It was my M.O. to treat all the celebs as just another customer so they could enjoy the simple experience of shopping. And I think that's why he sought me out when visiting the store. He was low key and matter of fact with our interactions. One time he purchased a fedora and of course he had to try on a couple of sizes and look in the mirror. At one point all I could think about was the scene from Tax Driver; "you talking' to me?" I worked there for 12 years and word got out Mr. De Niro was my customer and one day a Park Avenue producer gave me a movie script (with budget and shooting locations). He said you get this to De Niro and I'll make you a producer. I wouldn't put that on De Niro and funny enough De Niro didn't return to the store for several years after that.
@h3artands0uLL
@h3artands0uLL Жыл бұрын
That’s so great you treated him so regularly so he could enjoy that simple experience. It must’ve meant a lot to him without him saying anything about it. I’m a little confused on the last part. You wouldn’t put that on De Niro.. meaning the movie script that was handed to you.. but he still didn’t return for a few years? Was he upset about it?
@JK-xl7un
@JK-xl7un Жыл бұрын
@@h3artands0uLL Thanks, In regards to the script, I didn't want to give it to him and break the customer/sales relationship we had. Coincidently De Niro was absent from shopping at the store for at least 2 years after this producer gave me the script. So I was able to honestly tell the producer De Niro has not been shopping as of late. I hope that clarifies things.

"About my farther" is a nice movie. I like the scene when the father & son take a walk together to the tennis court, where the son can join the game with his girlfriend's family members. Because they stay at her parent's home, the father said something to the son like he hopes nothing was being stolen this weekend, as wealthy Americans love to blame everything on immigrants 😅. It's funny but it reflects the ugly truth of American white supremacists' ideology.

It's funny because I just rewatched Analyze This and Analyze That over the weekend - and I was totally distracted by how utterly unbelievable De Niro's crying scenes were. Lol I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I just don't understand all the hype about what a GOAT-level actor De Niro is. He's _amazing_ in the types of roles that he takes, but they all seem so typecast and similar. Where does he get this reputation for being a consummate actor? I've seen 95% of his films and I've never seen much range or depth from him. IMHO It's not so much that he's one of the greatest actors of all time and more about the fact that he's been in some of the greatest films of all time.

Have you watched The Mission? It also has Jeremy Irons and Liam Neeson. It was a sleeper hit at the time, not much BO success. If you wanna see him cry...like really cry, like a child...watch that. I think when De Niro was younger - certainly in the ‘70s, but also in some of his work from the ‘90s - you can see that he really transforms for each part. However, as he’s gotten older, he‘s primarily taken jobs that seem to be easy ways to earn a paycheck, many of which typecast him in roles that riff on his public persona and ask him to play similar characters (stereotypical Italian, grumpy old guy, gangster, etc). A lot of younger people know him primarily from these movies, and not for the ones that made him famous in the first place, so maybe it’s a generational thing?
@squiggan
@squiggan Жыл бұрын
@@Elena-er7zpthose are the films I think about when I say "this man's imprint on Cinematic History just won't be filled, anytime soon ..if ever". He does his homework on his roles and most of his early work which didn't require him to be much of a "all feelings happy go lucky" kind of guy, if anything he portrays his characters very well, giving that "cold blooded killer, gangster" vibe but somehow still so very approachable. IMO, there was more or less a standard on how to do(perform) some things and he just went through the paces as any, but did perform as well as any other top notch actor, IMHO. Yet, admittedly nobody is perfect and I can't say I enjoyed every single film he's starred in ..But most are a real treat!💯
