Friends, as many of you know, Alzheimer's prevention is personal to us. In our very first meeting, we connected over the shared loss of our grandparents to dementia and since then we have dedicated our lives to combating neurodegenerative diseases. This put us on-the-ground in communities around the nation. We saw family after family suffering from the tragedies of Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and cognitive decline. This is when our life's purpose took shape, and it was to share this simple, but powerful, piece of information: cognitive decline is preventable and you already have most of the tools you need to do so.
That's why we are so excited that today we finally get to share our new book, The 30-Day Alzheimer’s Solution with you. This book was written with every intention of helping people. We want to make the science around lifestyle medicine and brain-health accessible and digestible to as many people as possible. The result? A guide to transforming your life in 30 days. We actively fight against that notion and want you to know: health starts with everyday habits, not hardcore protocols. The response has been incredible so far. Thanks to our collective efforts, we've seen the book rank as high as #15 on Amazon! All of the profits go towards the non-profit, Healthy Minds Initiative, whose aim is the improvement of brain health in communities through education, research and mobilization of resources.

The Brain Docs channel is all about brain health for you, your family, and your community with Team Sherzai, a unique husband and wife team on the cutting edge of brain science. Dr. Dean and Dr. Ayesha Sherzai are dedicated to educating people on the simple steps to long-term health and wellness through their work as Directors of the Alzheimer’s Prevention Program at Loma Linda University Medical Center, with patients, as well as through online writing, videos, and books.
There is a tsunami of diseases of the brain such as Alzheimer’s, stroke and Parkinson’s disease permeating our culture. In our own communities and families, we all have known at least one person suffering from these illnesses and in many cases seen the fallout first-hand. There is no treatment for these diseases, and the emotional, financial and social burden is immense. These diseases are thieves, stealing time, money and ravaging the minds of our loved ones. Lifestyle change is the only answer.

Beautiful book. Just picked it up at local vendor. Chuckled when I read the NEURO 9 on page 9. Then I became the 99th viewer hitting the like button. Pleasantly surprised that I’m incorporating about seventy percent of the foods on the list. Looking forward to trying out some of the recipes. Thank you for generously sharing your expertise on brain health.

I loved the way that Dean's talk had an urgency to it and he stressed being proactive by literally turning your home into your get well clinic. Today! That kind of talk drives home the message. I am currently a patient of his wife Ayesha and think she is a jewel in every aspect. Thank you both.

Climate experts have spoken of urgency to tame the climate change for 6 decades now Neither the corporate universe not the politicians listened until very recently. Biden is taken a stance different from that of Obama but it is bit too late. We are going to suffer a lot . Clime change is one thing that would fuel dementia tsunami

I try to eat as much like the Mediterranean diet as I can. I prefer chicken, turkey and fish for protein from meat. But I like every type of bean, whole grains , ( wheat, quinoa, rice). I am confused though as to dairy products because I’m also trying to strengthen my bones because of osteoporosis diagnosis. My 88 yr old daddy and his mom ( deceased) both have had Alzheimer’s. So I of course want to do everything I can to prevent the disease. Is low-fat Greek yogurt and 2% milk better for the osteoporosis and Alzheimer’s? Thank you for everything you’re trying to do for us families that have experienced the terrible emotional trauma of watching our beloved parents and grandparents slip away right in front of our eyes 😢❤ 4:12

Want to buy your book but I am already on a whole plant based diet that is 90% SOS following the advice of Dr Esselstyn and amny other well known Doctors in the whole food plant based eating world. My concern is why do you use oils and sugars? Have you not found a need to eliminate these in your protocol because of new scientific evidence you have found? would love to hear your take on this. Thanks for all your work and the free content you put online to help people prevent these lifestyle disaeases.
@TheBrainDocs
@TheBrainDocs 3 жыл бұрын
First of all, we don't recommend the use of refined sugar - there are none in the recipes and there is a long section about its harm in the book. Second, we love and respect Dr. Esselstyn - he's like family. That said, there's no evidence against using extra virgin olive oil - EVOO - for brain health. On the contrary, EVOO seems to have beneficial effects, but it is a processed food and high in calorie, so for people with metabolic issues, they have to be careful about the amount consumed. But for the rest of the population, there is nothing wrong about consuming EVOO. Thank you for your comment.

@@TheBrainDocs What good news. I wish Dr. Esselstyn could note this as the current state of the evidence, even if he still feels it best to eat No Oil! I think this could help a lot of Italians who WILL not hear that they should give up their favorite, "national pride" oil completely. thank you for taking the time to respond to the recurring question. I join another commenter in asking if you could do a deep dive on autophagy. thank you for your loving and indefatigable dedication to you helping so many of us. It takes time... yes, Dr; Greger has a video reporting that most? medical advances in treatment take about 16 years to trickle down to the patients. I live in Florida post-fleeing our Northern Calif toxic smoke-outs from wildfire that will only increase ad finding a boarded WFPB or Lifestyle Medicine MD is a nightmare. If you and others in the food revolution could create a national site for the MDs by speciality, including serious bio info who are available to treat a in-person and remotely, we would be so very grateful!

Why is the Podcast called: „The Definitive Guide To Cognitive Decline“? Was that a mistake, or is my English not quite well? To me, just from the title, it sounds like it is a Guide, how to get cognitive decline?!
@deansherzai6728
@deansherzai6728 3 жыл бұрын
From our experience in the community and the clinic it is apparent that after a certain age, which by the way is much earlier than people think, cognitive decline has started and is ubiquitous. But at the same time with the right lifestyle, thus the guide, one can avoid it. The blunt nature speaks to its ubiquity.
