Mopar guy here. I needed a new ABS Wheel Speed Sensor for my 300c and another video said he tried 2 different aftermarket sensors (speed) and neither worked, and when looking at them you couldn't tel them apart, so he answered my question so I went Mopar. I usually like to go OEM when possible, and these videos confirmed that I should spare any headaches and spend the extra $$.

Great information, I agree! Here in America, an OEM oxygen sensor for my Honda Civic was over $600 from the dealer and still nearly $500 online, but I didn't want to spend nearly $200 on another Denso sensor that's going to die in another couple years. Fortunately I found that in Japan the exact same OEM sensor with the exact same part number is in the $200 range, so I ordered one from a reputable Japanese eBay seller for ~$240 shipped to my door with 30 day free returns. So far so good! Just another option to investigate if an OEM part is ridiculously expensive here. Jp-carparts has great prices on OEM parts for Japanese cars too, I've found that for whatever reason the exact same part is often significantly cheaper in Japan compared to in America.

I just searched Ebay for Jp-carparts and that seller did not show up. One Japanese seller showed up by the name Toyo???? something which didn't have the part I need and most of the other international sellers were from Germany, Lithuania or United Kingdom.

i always buy Oem parts or same brand as original installed. one day my camshaftsensor died, my option was 80 dollars Oem part or 50 dollars Ngk brand aftermarket. So i give it a try for the the Ngk. it worked perfectly for 3 months and suddenly it stopped working with a check engine light. So i bought the Oem part and it works great for 2 years now.

The best is always Oem parts ! But sometimes you can find the exact same sensor on a autopart store, and buy it cheap. You only need to be sure its the same brand and Oem number when buying one.

4 yrs extended usage, not bad. If have had a serious accident in the mean time, render the vehicle worse condition than the sensors. So in reality you saved money.

4 years is pretty good for a aftermarket indeed !

What are your thoughts on the NTK aftermarket brand? I’ve purchased sensors from them and so far they are still holding up couple years later. Is there an aftermarket brand you would recommend that would have closest to OEM standards?

Can an aftermarket sensor make your car run roughly even if the sensor is just new on the car, for me it's the crankshaft sensor, I had a service light came on and the engine codes lead me to that sensor after I replaced it with the aftermarket one the service light disappeared but the car runs even worse than it did before.

While unlikely, it is possible.

Yup. Just because something is new doesn't mean it works properly.

Yes I’m dealing. With this right now with my 2006 Hummer H2 where it needs an OEM Crankshaft Sensor

Also some aftermarket crankshaft position sensors just won’t work & fix the problem & you might be left scratching your head, I have a 2006 Hummer H2 it only throws 2 codes, the crankshaft position sensor & evap, she starts & runs & then cuts off & won’t crank back up, runs smooth for about 3-5 minutes then cuts off & that’s it for a few hours, so I had her put into the shop, just got off the phone with them, dealing with this right now, turns out it needs a factory oem sensor, so point I’m making some vehicles computers are more tedious than others.

Great video! I have a Nissan Altima coupe 2012 with a faulty mass air flow sensor, would you recommend aftermarket 100$ sensor or OEM 500$? Thanks and keep those video coming, cheers!

Oh man that's quite the price discrepancy! How hard is it to change on that car? Personally I'd probably just buy the aftermarket in that case due to the huge price difference, and if it's easy to replace and there was concern of the aftermarket one failing maybe buy a spare and keep it in the car just in case.

It’s easy to change on the Nissan. Good idea, I’ll buy a aftermarket spare and keep in the car as a precaution. Thanks for helping out!!!

Buy a new one. The used one is just a bandaid and could fail in a day, week, month. It's a crap shoot and not worth the gamble

My old sensor caused the check engine light to turn on after a wile but after i changed to a new O2 sensor my check engine light came on really fast so should i find a more expensive sensor?
@LifeatSpeed
@LifeatSpeed Жыл бұрын
It's possible you got a bad replacement sensor, but it's also possible something else is causing the problem.
