The SCT Manufacturing SCT-19 Compact Pistol Frame is a very popular starting point for folks who want to build up their own custom pistol using Glock® parts. The SCT-19 comes stripped, except for the slide rails and locking block. The good news is it accepts a G19 Gen3 slide assembly and internal parts. Brownells Gun Tech™ Caleb Savant shows us how to install all the parts needed to turn a bare St. Croix frame into a complete lower half for your pistol. He's using a handy kit of Glock® factory parts from Brownells. NOTE: SCT Manufacturing's frame is a serial-numbered FFL item.
The SCT frame comes with the locking block installed. You will need to remove it so you can install some of the other parts.
SLIDE LOCK (2:47): This is the pair of levers on each side of the frame that you pull down to release the slide so you can take it off the frame. The part of the slide lock spring that has a 90-degree angle in it is inserted facing the front of the frame, with bit that sweeps up like Caleb's hair pointing toward the rear. The notch on the top of the lever itself should face the rear of the frame.
MAGAZINE CATCH (6:13): If you're using a factory frame, the magazine catch spring will be installed already. You'll have to install it on the SCT Manufacturing frame. There's a big opening for the mag catch on the right-hand side of the frame and a small opening on the left. So you know the small end has to go through the large hole opening first, with the cutout for the mag catch spring pointing down. Caleb shows us the trick for finagling the spring out of the way so you can fully seat the catch.
ASSEMBLE THE TRIGGER (10:34): The trigger spring, trigger, trigger bar, and disconnector all meet up in the trigger housing.
INSTALL THE TRIGGER ASSEMBLY (13:06): The trigger housing snugs into the pocket behind the magazine well. Now you can reinstall the locking block. Insert the small plastic pin through the hole at the back of the frame. This keeps the trigger housing from popping out of the frame when you take the slide off. Farther up, there are two holes on each side of the frame. The pin that looks like a barbell goes through top hole.
SLIDE RELEASE (17:10): Goes between the frame and the trigger body, under the locking block. Insert the last, largest, pin into the frame from the opposite side to anchor the slide release. Make sure the slide release snaps into the notch in the pin.
Congratulations, you have a complete pistol frame ready for a Glock® G19 sized slide assembly. That's a topic for a future video!

Speaking as a Glock armor since 1998 and retired Dept. armor, you did a great instructional video. I always enjoy Brownells channel, website and supply. There is never a replacement for quality. Stay the course.

I bought two of these frame this month and recently put them together. Huge Tip for anyone planning on buying one.. DO NOT USE A P80 PARTS KIT/ ESPECIALLY TRIGGER HOUSING. use factory a factory trigger housing.. I had a lot of issues of the slide not going back into battery. A lot of trigger connector run in the inner part of slide caused this issues. I recently used an Overwatch Precision Polymer DAT complete kit (it uses a factory housing) and they run amazing. Highly recommend and hope this helps someone. Good job Caleb.

Nothing should use P80 parts kits, not even P80 frames. OEM all the way.

@@zobiya17 I agree. I had an extra kit I had bought and was anxious to put it together and test at the range. Waited for a the OEM parts and trigger and now it runs perfect.

@@brandonjames9663 It's the Alpha comp trigger,. Also got a 3.5 pound trigger connector from Lantac. My slide issue was due to the slide stop being backwards. Once I got it turned around everything worked great.

Knowing you're a gunsmith which is not the same as a "Glock armorer". One is a skilled trade and the other is being able to perform obvious entry level tasks.

The only Brownells branded part I have ever been disappointed with was the gen3 “factory“ parts kit, hopefully mine was an exception. Get the OEM Glock parts kit instead it’ll save a lot of time and cussing for a little more money. Thanks Caleb good video I wish you would have made this a few years ago:-)

Is it weird that I think that these are relaxing…? I have little to no use for these tutorials, as I’m in ca and the alphabet boys might try to hurt my dog if I even thought about thinking about not fully complying with draconian gun laws that are a complete theft of our inherent rights as Americans. But I do find the building/cleaning aspect to be very enjoyable. I take my guns apart to take a look at any little part. I check for function testing and I like to take every gun as apart as possible to see as much as possible, and there is something that feels like Legos as a child, that you’re doing something positive for yourself and for your firearm, and building, cleaning, checking and servicing are a big part of the fun for me. Still blows my mind at what a complex mechanical instrument the tool is, and any firearm is a wonder to behold. These are fun. Don’t worry ATF I learned nothing and I would never even think about doing anything like this. Thanks Caleb. These are fun to watch, even if they are things that might already be known, or things that might not pertain to my little shooting niche. I hope that everyone can build an 80 percent, they should, and should have fun doing so. Looks like a blast.

The take down lever of the SCT17 is different than the SCT19. The 17 requires a standard spring, while the 19 uses bent steel as a spring (shown in this video). My OEM Glock lower parts kit does not have the right spring 😢

I have the SCT frame with Glock OEM parts kit, and Live Free Armory slide and barrel. The gun shot terrific in all aspects from the first trial run The only thing I would like to revamp is the magazine release. It sticks out a bit too far when using the Glock factory mag release, its obnoxious to the eye. What other offerings in mag releases are available that works, and does'nt stick out like a sore thumb?

It's not always about aesthetics. Some people pay more for aftermarket parts to mod the mag release like that.

Actually, as you're a gunsmith, and traditionally the work done is called out on the invoice, and things nowadays being mostly computerized, i would not be surprised at all if someone were to put an exact number on how many of a particular operation on a particular model they have done.

@@thechad503nd it wouldn't be illegal, unless they were selling the 80 lower with the parts kit and/or jig. The courts haven't settled this issue, yet. It does seem like the frame/receiver rule won't pass judicial review. Edit: frame, not lower
