A common confusion and question we get are the differences in fitting styles. This video talks about the difference in NPT, O-ring (ORB), AN, and Face seal style fittings.
Each fitting is different, unique, and has a different sealing style and needs to be treated differently.
A short recap:
NPT Fittings: Use Pipe tape or Liquid Pipe Tape
ORB (O-ring): Do not use pipe tape or pipe sealer (seals off the oring)
AN: NO tape or sealer needed on the AN portion of the fitting, it seals off of metal to metal interference.
Face Seal: Uses a Soft aluminum or copper washer to seal the fitting to the piece it is screwing into.
