I've just managed to do this without the need to remove the platter. I found the correct size of screwdriver bit from a set and was able to grip the bit with my fingers and tighten the two screws. Making sure that the two slots where the cart slides in were at right angles with the deck. My reason for needing to do this process was due to the cart being cocked at an angle from the deck. Therefore the screws needed to be loosened first. Just make sure that the screwdriver bit is a snug fit.

Excellent video. I'm actually having to send one of my 1200s in for repairs because I was a little over-zealous with the tightening of the little screws on the underside of the arm. Ugh.

Great tip!... Nevertheless, what I ended up doing was using one of those eyeglass mini-screwdrivers. Worked beautifully and no dismounting required (not even the platter). Thanks!

I said GENTLY because you don't want to pull on fragile wires inside. Before removing screw on gimbal, make sure your tone arm is adjusted straight on the loose joint first, you dont want to tighten the tone arm way out of adjustment.

Well, the screw heads may be stripped or the screws have been over-torqued causing a loss in metal and making the whole a little bigger. You may have to take one out to inspect the threads of the screw. If they are damaged then it is likely that the holes a stripped. Take the screw to a good hardware store that would carry such screws and get one that is the same size and get one that is a little bigger in diameter- try the new "same size" first.
