Overview of a Technics RS-M250 cassette deck from 1980/1. Explanation of some of the issues encountered and a description of some of the steps taken to get it functional again. In part 2 I'll go into more detail about getting it running well and how I went about diagnosing and resolving some of the issues.

Really helpful. Thank you. With the pendulum, mine doesn’t engage left or right fully. And I really cannot work out why. Do you have any footage of the dismantling and reconstruction please ? I can see a cog behind where the motor it seems to be ok although are there actually 2 cogs at different angles ?

It's actually on the shelf waiting for final adjustments. If you can wait a little while I'll have a look at it and see if I can figure out the probable culprit. Usual suspects are old dried grease, weak springs, or worn idler tyres. It's a great mech to work on as all the wires can be disconnected and the transport unit worked on separately.

Creo que entiendo la pregunta: ¿quieres decir que tiene un amplificador? La respuesta a eso es no, no es así. Esta unidad usa alrededor de 10 W, pero necesita conectarse a un amplificador o usar auriculares.
